Get Flash Player to work under Vista

Using Internet Explorer, I am trying to get Flash Player 10 to work under Vista 32 bit. When I go to youtube.com, their greeting says "Hello, you either have JaveScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."    Looking at the 'Programs and features' on the Control Panel, it shows 'Adobe Flash Player 10 activeX' is installed.  In the Internet options, the security level is Medium-High. I tried to change this to medium but the sytem keeps reverting to Medium-High and in the scripting area, Active Scripting is set to enable. Can someone please tell me what I need do to get Flash player to work on my system.

Anyone here get an answer yet? Suddenly I'm getting those same messages that I either don't have javascript enabled (I do) or I need to get the latest version of Flash Player. But the latest version isn't for Windows 64. So what am I supposed to do, and what happened to cause this?

Tough without the Install disc, but some things to try...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.

  • I can't get Flash Player to work at all I need help PLEASE!!!

I have been trying for close to 1 week now to figure out how to get this flash player to work on both IE & Firefox and it's driving me crazy. I'm running a Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit not sure what other info you need but I'm here if you need more. I just want to get this fixed so hubby can play his games and I can play mine.
    Thanks so much

Games require not only the latest Flash Player, but the least Shockwave as well. I recommend a complete “clean install” for both.
Download the following by right clicking and  selecting either "Save target as"(IE) or "Save Link As"(Firefox):
    Shockwave Player Uninstaller
    Flash Player Uninstaller
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
Shockwave Player 12 FULL Installer (Other browsers)
Save the files - DO NOT RUN ANYTHING YET.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything, run the UNINSTALLERS to remove Shockwave and Flash Player,
Once they’ve finished, go to: C/Windows/System32 and delete the Macromed folder.
Go to: C/Windows/SysWOW64 and delete the Macromed folder.
Open your Registry Editor (Start>Run or press the Windows key + R and tope “regedit” [minus the quotes] and click OK)
In the Registry Editor, go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and delete the Macromedia folder.
Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software and delete the Macromedia folder there.
Close the Registry Editor and empty your Recycle Bin.
Run the Flash Player installers, and the Shockwave FULL installer for Firefox.
Lastly, using IE, visit: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/ to download and install the Shockwave FULL installer for ActiveX.

  • Flash Player not working with Vista in Firefox

I try to install Flash Player and Firefox allows me to download it, but I have no idea where or if it is saved.  The only place that I can see it is in the download folder.  Will Flash Player 10 work on my computer since I have Vista?  Help please!!

When you download anything, Firefox will give you two pop-ups
Click on 'Save File' here.  Next you will be asked where to save the file to
Navigate to the location where you want to save the file (e.g. My Download Files, or Desktop), and click 'Save'.
When the download is complete, exit Firefox, then run the downloaded file from where you saved it.

  • Flash Player not working on Vista 64 Bit

I too am having extreme difficulty w/ installing the new flash player.  At first I didn't know I had too.  Two days ago I was watching a show on YouTube, and last night it said I needed to install the latest version.
Windows Vista Home Edition 64 Bit
Preferred browser Mozilla Foxfire / secondary browser Internet Explorer
I did all the uninstalls and removed files from the download directory.
I followed all instructions making sure I chose the appropriate download version for 64 bit.
    Below is what I chose:
Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.94 (16.9 MB)
Your system: Windows 64-bit , English, Firefox
Do you have a different operating system or browser?
I downloaded, saved and ran it.  Made sure all Firefox windows were closed including weather network.  Then it stated 'installation complete'.
I went to YouTube and then it said I had to install the Flash Player.  I did this too.  Still, nothing worked.  I am somehow being forced to upgrade a perfectly good computer?
I hope this can be resolved.  I read through everyones comments, tried them all and still nothing.

    Surprise to me!!! It worked!!!
I decided to try for the 87th time and it finally worked.  What I did was (incase someone else wants to try this) well, it worked for me ... thought I did this before ...
    Uninstalled all flash players
Deleted all flash players from download directory
Deleted deleted items from garbage bin (you never know)
    Re-started the PC
Went to YouTube and it prompted me to install a Flash Player - did this and guess what ... it worked!  Only 5 hours in ...
Now, if I can just figure out how to properly use my new sewing machine hem foot and try to finish measuring (after 8 times) the duvet I am sewing then I will be well on my way!
They say it comes in three's.  Had mine.  Done !
    Good luck everyone!

The following information would be useful:
    - A direct link to the video / videos where you encountered the crash
    - Your Operating System and Version
    - Your Browser and Version
    - The Version of Flash Player (right-click on Flash content, look in the context menu)
Do you see the crash in only your preferred browser, or all browsers.  (The Flash Player for Firefox/Safari/Opera, Chrome and Internet Explorer are all significantly different.  Isolating it to one or more browsers is useful in understanding the root cause.)
Have you tried the video troubleshooting guide?  If so, please detail the steps you took and the results you saw.  This is extremely useful in isolating a root-cause.
    Video playback issues
If you're encountering the crash in Firefox, a direct link to the crash report would be extremely useful:
In the address bar, type about:crashes
You'll see a list of links with random letters and numbers
Click the first link.  It will take you to a crash report page.  Hit back, and the link will change to start with bp- and a new set of letters and numbers.
Right-click that link, and choose Copy Link Location.
Paste it into a reply here.
Repeat for the first few if you have multiple crashes.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot get Flash Player to work

Flash Player 11.6.602.180 keeps stopping. Everytime I try to use it I get the "has stopped working" message. I have un-insalled and re-installed several times with no positive result. It is very frustrating.

What is your operating system & version?
    What is your web browser?

  • Can't get flash player to work!!

I have downloaded and installed Adobe flash player several times but I can't get it to work. every time I try to watch a video on youtube it says I need the upgraded version of flash player. I have version 11.  I have went online and followed instructions on how to delete and reinstall but it still does not work!!  I don't know what else to do!!!!!

To assist us in quickly understanding your problem, please follow these guidelines when posting:

Specify your web browser and version (including 32bit or 64bit edition)

  • How to get Flash player to work?

I've installed all the updates. I've restarted me machine, I've enabled the stupid add on thing, I've turned of the stupid active X filter, and I still can't get any web based flash stuff to work. "install the latest update", ok, happy to do that, but I go to the update page "you have the latest edition"
So what now? I'm not a fricken computer tech, nor do I want to be, I just want the darn thing to work.
I didn't particularly want to sign up for membership either, can't I just get someone to fix the problem without all the rigmarole?
edit: Now I'm getting an download windoe for Flash Player 13.0 Installer, which downloads gets to "verifying", then "The Installation encountered errors: Your microsoft internet explorer includes the latest version of Adobe Flash player built in. Windows Update will inform you blah-blah-blah..."
If  it's built in THEN WHY THE **** ISN'T IT WORKING??!

You're using Internet Exploder 11. Here's the problem in three words:
    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser (Read more here).
User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video.
Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome).
Trouble is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11.
YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play.
Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess they've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE...
The Problem with THAT is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that, because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • I Cannot Get Flash Player to Work Properly

    The Basics :
Im Running Windows XP Home Edition Service pack 3
I have IE7  (I had IE8 But was told that this was the problem so I went back to IE7)
    Problem:
Everything worked fine until a couple days ago, then it told me to do a flash player update and that is where everything went to hell in a handbasket.
I can no longer access sites that require activex (IE: Farmville, Cafe World, and other apps on facebook). As I previously stated everything worked fine until I did the update. When I dl and install the Flash Player again I reboot and then go back to facebook and try to view the pages again but all i get is the message its not installed and at first I would just click the click here link and try to reinstall. Now I dont do anything but exit the page, uninstall and try again. I really don't know what else to do.
    What I have Done:
I have uninstalled Flash Player, reinstalled it at least 10 times. I have tried the forced removal, as per many instructions here. I did NOT dl the Beta 10.1.
    I have removed IE8 and reinstalled IE7.
Please can someone help me get out of this stupid loop. Im getting so frustrated.
    Thanks

With "forced" removal, do you mean using the -force option?  This is only for the 10.1 beta removal; it has no effect on the uninstall of the released version.
To uninstall the released Flash Player version, download the uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and save it to disk.
Next, download the offline ActiveX installer http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe; save it to disk.
Now close all browser windows, then run the downloaded uninstaller.  If you want to make sure that everything related to Flash Player is removed, run it with the /clean option.
Now reboot Windows, then run the downloaded installer.
