Get Folder Status activity?

Hello guys,
Is there an activity similar to the Get File status one? The thing I'm trying to do without having to resort to a PowerShell script is the following:
I give a top level folder (for example C:\Temp) and I want the Runbook to look for a folder in one of the subdirectories called $tmp$ and delete it. I've tried using the Monitor Folder activity however it only gives me the "Origin Folder"
(C:\temp) as published data and not the folder it actually triggered on.

Thanks again for the answer. That solution works fine. I tried doing it without a .Net script activity because not everyone here can decipher code that well... But I suppose a single line of Powershell shouldn't be a challenge for a hardened IT-guy
:) ... In any case I think a standard installation of the Orchestrator can't do something similar out of the box using other activities... I have seen some IP's that implement a "Get Subfolder" activity though but I can't get 'em to work (I
think they're created for an older version of Orchestrator).

Can BPEL Email/SMS activity get delivery status from UMS???

While implementing to send SMS/Email using BPEL service, does BPEL service gets delivery status back from UMS? If yes, how?
Below UMS documentation indicates UMS makes delivery status available to application.
Robust message delivery: UMS keeps track of delivery status information provided by messaging gateways, and makes this information available to applications so that they can respond to a failed delivery. Or, applications can specify one or more failover addresses for a message in case delivery to the initial address fails. Using the failover capability of UMS frees application developers from having to implement complicated retry logic.

Hi Priya,
In our case, with respect to the SMS interface, whatever SMS server that we are using should have a specific set of documentation listed with respect to the different status of the message delivery. We have handled that using the java embedding activity and then updated the DB records accordingly.
Coming to the Email services, am not completely sure if there is one. However we can monitor the same using the EM console itself.

View for active Incidents related to WI (Problem) with status (Active) works but can't be changed.

Hi,
I wanted to create a view of Incidents which are linked to a Problem (any problem).
I did a quick test using the Incident (advanced) class, selected to display Incidents with status Active and [Work Item] Is Related To Work Item and status for Problem with the status Active.
At this first test I didn't bother to select any specific columns to display but just went with the pre-selected ( Description, Display Name, Display Name) and it worked.
I got a list of expected Incidents in the view but having the Description column made it quite useless.
So, when I try to select the columns I find useful it will not update and it returns a No items found message instead.

It is of course possible to group by one of the Display Name fields and collapse to get a more workable view but it still lacks a lot of good information. One would like to include ID, title, Created date,
date modified, Display Name for Affected User and Assigned to user, and a few others.
I was just a bit stumped as to why this fails when changing the columns on a view that obviously is possible to create.

Consider using the Advanced View Editor( or
the free edition), since it has much more robust criteria and column editing capabilities.

"unable to get printer status" and "server-error-not-accepting-jobs"

I've got an Intel Mac Pro with Tiger. When I accepted the latest update from Apple, I lost all my defined printers! I've re-added a local USB printer and a networked Laserjet - fine. But I also added a Phaser 850 color printer (networked) which used to work fine. It connects ok, and opens the printer queue window, but when it tries to print, it says "Unable to get printer status (server-error-not-accepting-jobs". The queue stays active (not stopped) but the jobs don't move. I've tried deleting the printer and re-making it - same deal. What's going on?

I get the imessage activation code but nothing happens

im trying to activate imessage, i get the status as "waiting for activation", after an hour or so i got sms from a number starts with 4477 with some programming text and that's that, nothing happened and the status still shows "waiting for activation"
note: i can send imessages but im not getting any, my friends tried several times from several accounts and still the same.
any suggestions please.

That SMS shows that you must not be connecting with the iMessage servers in the UK. Where are you located? Are you using a supported carrier for the iPhone? Normally, supported carriers can send this SMS with no problem, or no cost, but you need to have a texting plan. Issue using Get-DatabaseAvailabilyGroup -Status Exch 2010

When trying to use this CMDLET (Get-DatabaseAvailabilyGroup -Status) on Exch 2010, I get a powershell error message:

Have you checked Jared Van Leeuwen's suggestions? Is there any update?
The Status parameter instructs the command to query Active Directory for additional information, and to include real-time status information in the output. Please add the DomainController parameter to specify a domain controller to retrieve data to check
the result.
If you have multiple DCs in your environment, please make sure there is no replication issues.
If the issue persists, could you please use the ExBPA to check against your Exchange server health?

I have a job, there are two steps. I have checked in the table TBTCP, the status is always 'P', which means:job step scheduled, even the step is finished. How can we get the status of every step? Many thanks in advance!

but Table TBTCO(field-status) gives the status of the job i.e whether scheduled,released,active,finished,ready or terminated job.

Is there a easy way to get folder size in bytes? I don't want to check each file in it and then add them up.

Years ago, I found my home PC was lacking disk space and could not exaplain where all of the space went.
At the same time I was teaching myslef how to use the Picture control and Windows did not allow you to check the size of a folder and it sub-folders. So I used that situation to learn about the picture control and LV at the same time.
It worked and ran but very slowly.
Soon after Greg McKaskle was putting together the first version of "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" and was looking for fodder to beat up. I offered and he accepted. When the time came for the presentation, my code was chosen as "The bad" since I had not learned how to do a cluster sort at that time so I wrote my own version of a bubble sort (the VI presents a Pie Chart of disk usage and clcik on the sectors of the Pie Chart allowed you to drill down so I hd to sort by sizes).
So why am I telling you this long boring story?
That code is attached for you to look at laugh and tell me how dumb I was.
Feel free to beat me up. It can't be any worse than the abuse I got from Greg (I felt like I was being raped).

I would like to get number of active, ready to run and dehydrated instances for an orchestration in my master orchestration. How can I do this using WMI?

I have done it recently...its quite simple...
You can use System.Management in a helper library and create a helper method to implement this ->
int instanceCount = 0;

You can pass your orchestration name as a parameter to this method. Additionally you can modify the if conditions to include/exclude instance status.
Make sure to verify the syntax before you use it!!

I would like to monitor execution Status/Activity?

I want to monitor for activity or lack there of in the MainSequence. I am thinking that I want to launch a New Sequence in the same Thread, but I am not clear on what Property/Method will expose a change that I can monitor? Thanks...

When you launch a new sequence in the same thread, you are actually changing control to the new sequence from the calling sequence. So, in your case, monitoring the MainSequence after calling NewSequence in the same thread would not give us any new information because nothing in MainSequence would change.
If you decide that you could launch the new sequence in a new execution, then you would have two sequences being executed simultaneously that you could monitor one from the other. If this sounds like what you are trying to do, I would recommend taking a look at the Knowledge Base How Can I Get the Status of Another Sequence Execution?
If you'd like, yo
u could also try to use the Synchronization Step Types, specifically the Notification Step Type, to notify another thread or execution that you have achieved some status that you choose. The Notification and Queue Step Types together are especially useful for passing data. The Synchronization Step Types are discussed in the TestStand User Manual(TestStand User Manual March 2001).
