Get higher resolutions for extended desktop

We have a new iMac. We also have an older Apple Cinema HD display monitor that we're using with the iMac as an extended desktop. On the iMac, we're using 2560 x 1440 resolution; but the highest resolution we can get on the Cinema HD is only 1280 x 800. Does anyone know how we can get higher resolutions on our Cinema HD display monitor?

I've been looking for a way to have the screen resolution change for different Apps too.  I can't find anything in Automator, but I hope there is a way..  Like you, I like my editing programs to be higher resolution and my finder, email and the rest to have a lower resolution.

  • Why am I am getting high resolution signals on any of my photos that I want to print  how do I remedy this problem so that I can print photos and also make a book

How can I change my photos from high resolution to be able to print them or put them into a tabletop book?

You're going to need to explain this a bit better
What are "high resolution signals"? How are you printing? Why would you want to change your photos from high resolution for printing, they higher the resolution the better they will print.

  • Enable High Resolution for Retina Screen

Version 11.0.0 downloaded from Creative Cloud on iMac 5K Retina screen (Yosemite). Acrobat Pro opens in Low Resolution - all text.images appears blurred/bitmapped/low resolution.
On looking at the applications info: 'Open in low resolution' is ticked and dimmed, so it can't be changed.
I've seen a couple of hacks to fix this, one of which states you should go into the Contents/info.plist and add <key>NSHighResolutionCapable</key>
    <string>True</string> just before </dict>
I'm not keen to do this, plus sounds like it will be glitchy.
Please would the next update allow high resolution for Retina screens. Thanks.

Big thanks Adobe, a day later, you release 11.0.09 which has fixed this issue.

  • Are JPEG 3504x2336 pixel pictures too high resolution for the photo books?

    Hi,
I am done creating my photo book and I am ready to order, but I'd like to know if my pictures are too high resolution. They are professional wedding pictures so they are 7.4 mb each JPEG 3504x2336 pixel pictures. (Last time, I printed through MyPublisher but the pages with multiple pictures didn't turn out well and they said it was because the resolution was too high so when they compressed the file for the pages with multiple pictures it didn't turn out well.) Will I run into the same problem if I print directly through Iphoto?
If I do need to lower the resolution, how do I do it, given that I've aready created the book?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
When you order the book it will be compressed and a PDF will be created. That PDF is what gets uploaded to Apple (via Kodak) for printing. So the best way to check your book before ordering is to create a PDF, then inspect it. Chances are, what you see in your PDF is what you will get printed.
To do this, select your book and do File > Print. You'll get an "Assembling book" progress bar. That can take several minutes. When done, you get the Print Dialog box. Click the PDF button and choose "Save as PDF..." Choose a name and location for the file (the Desktop is convenient) and Save. Then switch to the Finder and open that PDF in Preview. You might select a page or two and do a test print yourself, to see if the quality looks good. The PDF saves you from having to print out the whole book yourself to check for errors.
    Regards.

  • How do I get high resolution on my jpg photo

I have a photo in iphoto that I need to change to high resolution and email it.  HOw do I do that?

You can not "change" an image to High Resolution - what ever resolution it was created at it the maximum resolution it can be
the most general way to use the max is to select the photos in iPhoto and export it to the desktop using the highest resolution and quality settings (see the user tip on exporting for details on the options)  and email from there

  • Satellite L650: Is it possible to get higher resolution screen?

    L650-1CH 15.6", 1366x768.
    ATI HD5650 1GB
Hardware enthusiast, so please don't feel expected to dumb things down for me.
Is it possible to get a higher resolution screen than the stock one, or one with better colour / contrast?
I've always been annoyed at how washed out the stock screen on my Toshiba looked. Recently the screen cracked, so I figure now is the best time to look at options.
Google has given me very little information so far. I've checked up pricing on screen replacement, with the part being around 60 and the part + service averaging 120, but that most likely leaves me with the same or inferior screen quality.
I would hope to find something more suited to movies / games and in 1600x900 if possible.
Any pointers as to where I should begin my search?

    Hi
    > Is it possible to get a higher resolution screen than the stock one, or one with better colour / contrast?
Yes this should be possible since the graphic card should support higher resolution.
The notebook supports the 15.6" (HD) TFT display.
You need definitely the same size display.

  • How to get higher resolution previews in HDR Pro

I often make HDR images by exporting a bracket from lightroom into photoshop via right click>merge to HDR in photoshop.  When the dialog comes up it is always a very low resolution preview.  When I go to zoom in (cmd +) the resolution remains the same and I am zooming in on a pixelated image and the zoom is very limited.  I am working from D3s files so there is plenty of resolution but it just doesn't show up in the preview.  Is this simply the way it works or is there a way I can get a higher resolution preview.  I'm not worried about rendering times either as I'm on a 8 core with 16gb or ram.
    Thanks!

    Liter Cola-
not sure if this is entirely what you want, but there are options in adjusting the preview for a 32bit HDR image. with a 32 bit image you can store the entire dynamic range of the HDR image:
    "32‑bit Exposure
Option for adjusting the preview image for viewing 32‑bits-per-channel high dynamic range (HDR) images on your computer monitor. The slider is available only when the document window displays an HDR image."

  • Adapter for extended desktop

Hi there, I am new to this forum, so I hope I am asking this in the right place.
I just bought an Intel iMac and have kept my old 17inch studio display monitor (ADC). I would like to have an extended desktop, but I am confused as to what type of adapter I need to buy for this.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'd be tempted to sell the 17" Apple Display on to a PowerMac owner (who no doubt have old graphics cards lying around with ADC connectors on) and use that money towards a new display which can be taken with you to all future Mac purchases.
    kind regards

  • L10: Using single click for extended desktop

    Hi
I use a Sattelite L10 for presentations. Is there a way to set up the extended desktop with a single click (one! via .exe, .reg , .. file etc)? (A hot key would be nice too)
The problem is, if I start the computer without the external monitor / projector etc connected it reverts back to single display (normal desktop) and I have to Click right, browse to the correct option etc) I want a single button on my desktop / taskbar. (or hotkey)
    Thanks
    JP

    Thanks for the replies.
But it obnly works until you shut down and restart without the external monitor attatched!
Thene you have to right click, properties, choose extended desktop etc again.

  • Satellite P200D: How to get higher resolution with HDMI on external monitor

    Hi,
i have problem with my notebook P200D. I want to use my book with extern LCD in resolution 1680x1050.
In analog connection i have reached this resolution, but the quality of the output is bad.
I see some waves on the screen of LCD. And colors are little bit different.
Notebook has hdmi output too, so I have bought hdmi/dvi cabel, which is working, but i have reached only the resolution of 1200x1020.
Cabel is signgle link, it exists dual link cabel, but i am not sure if this sloves my problem. I have read that the hdmi output in the Toshiba notebooks is only single link.
So i cant reached higher resolution than 1200x1020... Is it true?

Vlada I do not know what you mean with bad picture but if you can use the right resolution the picture must be simply brilliant. I am afraid you can not set the right resolution (1680 x 1050) and because of that you are not happy with analog connection.
About HDMI usage I can just say that I have tried to connect Qosmio G30 to my HD Ready LCD TV. I have just switched to the TV using FN+F5 key combination, checked graphic card settings and set it to the center. The picture was perfect and I didnt change resolution.
It is very interesting theme and I hope someone else will post own experiences.
    Bye and good luck!

  • NB305-106 - Display driver for extended desktop

I would like to know if there is a display driver or any way possible to have "Extended desktop" with my NB305 rather than cloned dual display?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there,
Yeah thats the first thing I tried. However the extended desktop is not showing as an option, only dual display clone.
The display version was 8-----1972 so updated to the latest driver from Tosh support but still no extended desktop option.
A little frustrating as I have a really old Dell laptop with xp on running two external monitors as extended desktop.

  • Can't get correct resolution for second monitor

I am trying to use two monitors with a Vostro 1400 (Intel X3100 video card), the problem is I can't set the external monitor to 1280x1024. Gnome's screen resolution program only let me choose from 640x480 to 1360x768. Besides the resolution of the second monitor, everything else seems to be working fine. Some relevant info:

    Yes, I tried xrandr:
    $ xrandr --newmode "1280x1024" 65.0 1024 1048 1184 1344 768 771 777 806 -vsync -hsync
    $ xrandr --addmode VGA 1280x1024
$ xrandr --output VGA --mode 1280x1024
$ xrandr --output VGA --right-of LVDS
At first this didn't work at all, so I tried to mess with screen resolution applet and got output on the second monitor, but not at the desired resolution.
I tried running these commands again and got output on the second monitor, but at the wrong resolution. The strange part is that the resolution I want is listed by xrandr:

  • Windows 7 will not allow a high resolution for my apple 30" monitor?

For some reason I cannot change the resolution on my 30" monitor as high as I can on my 23 inch monitor. This results in super big windows and font 4 times the size of the 23 inch monitor. My IT searched for a driver but could not find one. I used to use windows XP and he did find a driver for that. Anyone know where we can find the right driver to solve this problem. The video card is a Radion. My computer is a 3 year old Mac Pro..
    Thanks in advance!
    Mark

Recently I purchased an alienware M18 laptop installed with Windows 7 . I wanted to downlode the latest Itunes to this system as I have on other comptures I own. Itunes dowloaded and is accessible to a limited degree . What it will not do is provide access to the Itunes store. Something is blocking my access to the Itunes store and I have benn unable to determine what the obstruction might be.
If it's an alienware PC, plausibly you might be getting the Bigfoot networks variation of the problem described in the following document:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
If it is the Bigfoot networks variation, stopping Xeno NIC from running at startup is worth a try, as per John's post here:
Re: Safari Not working at all! (Windows 7)

  • Very Bad Experience with EDGE Program, Trying to get a resolution for 2 Months

This is long winded but a lot has happened in two months. My wife and I are both on the Edge program. When she initially signed up for the program she got the Iphone 5. She ended up having some technical problems with the screen on her phone so she took it to an Apple store. The Apple representative replaced the phone for her and this is where all of our problems started. A couple months later she was eligible to “Edge Up.” She decided to do that when the newest Iphone came out. She got the Iphone 6 and sent her old phone back just like she was supposed to. The phone was sent back to her because Verizon said it wasn’t the original phone. She called Verizon and explained what happened and was instructed to resend the phone, which she did. We didn’t hear any more about it until our October 27th bill was $398.51 higher than it should have been. They charged us as if we never returned the phone.
We called Verizon a couple times and finally on November 8th a ticket ([removed]) was filed. At that time the representative told us she would follow up within the next couple days but she didn’t. During the ensuing month we made close to 15 inquiries (THAT IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION) with Verizon customer service. During the first 3 or 4 calls we were told that the refund should be coming soon and to be patient. After that the representatives would ask some new questions but mostly ones that we answered on previous calls. The representatives would say they’d have to do some investigating and would give us a call back in a couple days. With the exception of one time, they never did so my wife or I would call Verizon back. Each time we’d be connected to a different person so we would have to repeat the same story and answer repetitive questions. Before we would get off the phone we would ask to make sure the account notes were updated in hopes that we wouldn’t have to keep explaining ourselves.
We were becoming very frustrated over the whole situation. It bothered us that they weren’t getting back to us, that each time we called we had to tell the same information and mostly because we weren’t getting any answers about our four hundred dollars.
Finally about a WHOLE MONTH after the original ticket was filed, on December 5th I finally spoke to a Representative (JP) that was helpful. Apparently, the ticket was stalled because the Verizon Rep either put incorrect or inadequate information on the ticket.  She was able to track it down with the USPS tracking number. That frustrated us further because we couldn’t understand why she was able to find this out but why none of the other people could. She was going to look into this further and gave me an email address so I wouldn’t have to keep talking to new people.
We have emailed back in forth many times since December 5th.  After the third submission of the ticket by JP, some warehouse in TX has confirmed they received my wife’s phone but I still don’t have a refund. I don’t know what to do!!! At this point I am beyond frustrated. I actually feel a little helpless. This has gone on for over two months. My wife and I have literally spent hours on the phone with Verizon. I haven’t heard from JP since before Christmas. I never would have before but I am considering another wireless company. Can anyone on here help me or point me to someone that can? For anyone that is currently considering the edge program I would think twice.
If anyone is willing to help or has any ideas please let me know.

It seems as if you have done all that should be expected of you. I have seen where exchanging the phone at an Apple store has caused this type of problem when performing an Edge Up when the Apple employee who makes the exchange does not file the proper paperwork in order to have this reflected in Verizon's records.
I would try contacting the area president for your location or possibly the person in charge of national customer service. The following site has information about Verizon Wireless leadership with a method to make contact. Simply click on the "View Profile" link on the person in question and at the bottom of the page should be a contact line.
I would relate your story to one of these executives and am confident they will have the fortitude to help you out in a timely fashion.
    Good luck.

  • How to get Imac resolution for windows more than 1600x1200

I try to install windows 7. followed boot camp assitant instruction. using usb drive and windows 7 iso. everything seem ok. Installed boot camp in windows ok, But can't get resolution as Imac 2012 native resolution, and can't get adjust volume and brightness either. What's wrong?

try reinstalling just the graphics drivers from inside the folder of Boot Camp drivers, or the mobility driver for your gpu chipset.
