Getting icons for application

Hi all,
I'm adding new features to the application I'm working on, and am looking for Icons for the new features. I can't design icons, never had any experience, but they are very common icons (a phone and an email icon). Just wondering is there any free repository of icons that I could use on the web? I persume it wouldn't be legal to screen grab from MS word/outlook or thunderbird or something like that?

To create a desktop shortcut icon for the application for a jar file

Hi
I have created a jar file for my application. when i double click this jar file, the application opens.
What i want is--
Instead of user clicking on the jar file, my application also has to create a desktop shortcut icon.
If the user clicks on the icon which is on the desktop the application should open.
Please suggest me.

if your talking about on the desktop:
go to dock, click on finder, go to the menu bar, click on the "Finder" menu, chose preferences. When Finder Preferences opens, click on the "General" icon from the toolbar. Under "Show these items on the desktop:" check "Hard Disks". You may want to check "External Disks," and CDs, DVDs, iPods and connected servers.

How to get icon for bean

I can use loadImage method in the beaninfo to give my bean a cion, but beanbuilder did not get it into the pallete, however, the netbeans can do that, what is the reason? the same .jar file works in beanbuilder but not netbeans, strange.

sorry I may confuse you, I mean I can let netbeans use my icon for bean from my beaninfo class, but beanbuilder can not. meanwhile, netbean install new bean function is very restrict, and often refuse use jar file that has worked in beanbuilder, and gives the reason is you may miss java-bean: true setence in manifest.tmp, really confused me, do you know why? the icon is a long time headache for me, do you have any code example that worked in beanbuilder?

Installer and icon for j9 application

Hello there!
I've done a j9 (personal profile for windows mobile) application and I wish to change the executable icon on the device. Additionally I'm in need of as installer for this application. Is it possible to build a cab file with both application and j9 to deploy on the taget device?

I would like to do exactly what you are describing, however I am not there yet since I just started the development of a Java on Pocket PC project.
I did see reference to a tool by IBM called JXE which seems to wrap up a java app in a native executable for Pocket PC

Application Switcher: no icons for open applications.

After updating to OS 10.6, when I use the application switcher (command + tab) no icons appear for the applications I have already opened. I have only finder icon.

Delete this file.
com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences
Drag that file form the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

If deleting the finder.plist file didn't help.. delete this file also.

GUI Builder: Where to get Icons for Swing components

Hi,
I am creating a GUI Builder for Swing GUIs and I am searching for icons representing Swing Components as seen in many GUI Builders like JBuilder.
So I want to have ToggleButtons with icons in a toolbar, to let the user choose what Swing Component to create (e.g. JTextField, JList, etc.).
Are there any free icons for Swing Components?

What I am searching for are icons of JComponents like JButton or JTextField etc. . You can see them for example in some GUI builders like JBuilder-Designer and they are looking as if they are Java native.

How can I add an icon for an application into the dock?

I just installed an application that I will using often, but I cannot add it to the dock for some reason. I tried dragging it from the applications menu but that didn't work. How can I get it on the dock? Thanks in advance

Launch the application and then press the Control key or hold down the mouse/trackpad button while clicking on its icon in the Dock; choose Keep In Dock from the menu which appears.

How do I get icons for my yahoo email, Face Book, You Tube, and other sites that I use a lot?

In the past I had icons on my toolbar for my Yahoo email, You Tube, Face Book, and a lot of other sites that I use a lot, but I can't find where to get them to add to my firefox tool bar.
Also I have a lot of plug ins that I'm not sure I need, is there any way you can tell me what I need or don't need to keep?

I disabled acceleration in the flash player by linking to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Troubleshooting and scrolling to the line that specifically outlined my problem - split horizontal screen with green line - clicked on the flash link then right clicked the flash icon and ticked disable acceleration.
I also uninstalled and reinstalled more programs then I probably need to.
We will see how long it lasts* site explains it may not be permanent

Disc drive icon for downloaded applications doesn't go away

I have downloaded Chrome and Skype for my macbook, and when the applications have downloaded I copy it to my applications like it prompts you to, and delete/eject the disc icons. They go away at first, but once I try to open the new applications the same prompts and disc drives appear on my desktop. Do I have to keep doing this process over and over again? Please help!

DO you OPEN the disc image (.dmg) file and THEN copy the application(s) to your Application folder, or are you simply dragging the .dmg file to your Applications folder?

Missing application icons for many applications

After a failed upgrade to kde 4.3 beta through KDEmod I removed all of the KDEmod stuff and reinstalled arch kde 4.2. But now many applications are missing their icons. Anybody has an idea on how to fix this issue? Thanks
P.S. I already tried removing all of the configuration files and already removed every last trace of kdemod stuff.

Hey all, i got the same strange behavior after trying to update to kdemod unstable 4.3 nad move back to kdemod stable.
After unsuccessfully trying to fix it with the given hints i managed to get "all" icons back.
What i did:
Removing the oxgen icon pakage: pacman -Rd kdemod-kdebase-runtime-icons
After that the oxygen icon dir was still there, so i moved it to get a fresh dir after reinstalling the above removed pakage.
cd /usr/share/icons/
mv oxygen oxygen_old
Removing the hicolor icon theme: pacman -Rd hicolor-icon-theme
After that you get a funny looking desktop, cause all icons are gone.. the questionmark icon too.
Then i cleared my pkg cache: pacman -Scc
After that i reinstalled the above removed pakages.
pacman -S kdemod-kdebase-runtime-icons
pacman -S hicolor-icon-theme
Now all my icons are back without one exception.. the settings icon in the kde menu.. it shows the icon from the monochrome icon theme.. strange but i can live with it.

Diffrent icon for applications

hey guys...
i got a small problem with the icons for my applications...they arent the same anymore...i changed them once and now i can not chane them back...because i dont know where the originals r...
so can any1 tell me where i can get them from and how i can change them back to their original look...
