Get Info on .mov file resolution information is missing

Hi - I have captured some video on my Imac with the built in Isight camera it shoes the dimensions 640* 40 and the codec whn I get get info - however when I do the same on my macbook (white) I do not get any more of the same information just last time the file was accessed. Is this to do with the built in isight differences or a config setting ?

How can I tell? The 'get info' window has no lock and under sharing and permissions, on says 'you can only read'. I did a get info on the Macintosh HD and it had a lock on it but said I could only read, for what that it worth.

It may be because of your settings. You can modify that setting in System Preferences > Trackpad. Another way of making right-click is to click the app icon while holding the Control key

Problems with 'Get Info' in movies and TV Shows

Hey all,
Very Recently I have acquired a problem with my iTunes application and specifically the 'Get info' option in movies and TV Shows. For some reason I when I use apple + I or go to file then 'get info' the information box for the item in question does not appear.I have tried restarting iTunes and also restarting my machine but the problem still persists. any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Movie file resolution

How do I determine the resolution of a movie file that I have downloaded from iTunes? The file info does not include that information.

Ok, so back to my original question, how do I tell what the resolution is?

"Get info" on video files freezes iTunes for minutes.

When I right click a video file and select "get info", iTunes always freezes for at least 60 seconds. Then it shows the normal tag info. If I change anything and press ok it freezes again, then it works as it should (with the edited info saved properly). This is making it impossibly time consuming for me to organize my TV-Shows to my new iPod.
No issue with audio files, but all mp4 video I've tried so far gives me this issue (from movies of 2 hours to YouTube clips of 10 seconds length).
I have tried reinstalling with the newest version to no effect. I'm clueless, can't find anybody else with the same problem.

This has always been the case for me. I thought it was normal behavior for iTunes.

How to get self-contained .mov files without FCE opening up?

Hi all experts,
I have fully rendered my first file, which is a simple text animation.
I did Export > QuickTime Movie. I am sure I tick the MAKE MOVIE SELF CONTAINED box.
When I quit FCE, I went to search for that .mov file. When I click at the file, FCE project file open up as well !!
If I copy this file for my friends, when they click at it, will they be able to see it if they do not have FCE ?

Cant get a clean movie file

hi all
I am expoerting a movie from final cut pro 5 with compressor. I have used the settings for DVD fast encode and high quality.
The problim is that everytime i use compressor and then play back the movie files they look corupted. They have alot of digital break up and sometimes skip or jump frames.
Has anybody got any advice on how to fix this please.

It's not really possible to diagnose your problem given that you've provided so little information on your encoding method, source video, and/or your playback and evaluation method(s). NTSC or PAL, standard definition DV or HD, interlaced or progressive, frame rates, field dominance settings? What exactly do you mean by "digital break up?"
I assume that you are using the latest updates to FCP v5, Compressor 2, QuickTime 7, and Apple's Pro Application Support. I further assume that you are not trying to use presets that were either imported or derived from Compressor v1.x (that will not work, a documented problem).
Furthermore, have you tried using a range of different source video (not all based upon the same capture session or materials). Has your source video gone through any form of post processing other than simple cuts and scene transitions? What about frame rate conversion, deinterlacing, color correction, scaling, etc?
Finally, what you are reporting is not common -- at least not common based upon my understanding of your problem -- but as I noted you haven't provided many details so it's hard to know what you are actually seeing.

I a owner and administrator. I can't change any file permissions. Help tells me to 'get info' on a file, them click on the lock icon to enter password. The lock icon is not present on any files I 'get info' on. How can I change permissions

I attached an external drive to my macbook pro for backup purposes. I found that the device is 'read only' for me. I read that I could change permissions by selecting 'get info' for a item and clicking the lock icon to submit my password. The lock icon is not displayed on any 'info' window for any file on my macbook, much less the attached drive. I am the only user and administrator as far as I know. Get Info for multiple files

Seems to be a beginner’s problem, sorry …
I have a folder on my HD with 250 mp3 files (1.25GB) and want to copy some to a SD card (512MB).
So I (shift) select say 95 files in Finder:
It lists “95 of 250 selected, 723.39 GB available”

To get the size I try the right click at the selected files (blue) with “Get Info” (or the top menu icon) - but now 95 windows pop up with the size of each file, I can’t stop it (fascinating to watch, indeed) and don’t know how to close all “Get Info” windows at once.
1) 95 x Cmd+W or “Quit” Finder from Activity Monitor?
2) How to “Find” the size of a bunch of files?
(I bet it was working before, selecting multiple files with one “Get Info” summary?)

I did not understand the “or press Option when the File menu is open …” instruction, always returns the folder size.
The slow moving shift + Get Info is cool.
I am sure I did not use any of these combinations before, but ... +

"Get Info" displaying wrong file size

Hey Guys take a look at the image to see my issue
get info shows two different file sizes but then when i send the file or upload it to a server it shows the real file size

When I attach the image to an new empty email, before I send it I do not see any "Image Size popup at the bottom right corner of the window." The only size info I can see is the "Message Size" on the bottom left hand side. On the bottom right hand side there is Image Size with a drop down menu where you can choose to view the image either by "Actual Size"(default), Small, Medium or Large.
I am only able to see the attachment size info above the image after I have sent it when I go into Sent Messages or after I have sent it to myself I can see it in the received message.
Can you tell me where to hover the cursor to get this "Image Size popup"?
I am using Mail - Version 4.2 to send the message.

Finder Get Info on music file shows comma in Year Recorded

Has anyone else seen this?
If you Get Info on a music file in the Finder I'll see the Year Recorded as "Year Recorded: 2,009" or whatever year. Does anyone have any idea why?

I see the same thing. seems to be a minor bug. you can submit a bug report if you wish but since this bug is not present in snow leopard it is extremely unlikely that anything will be done about it.

"change all" is grey after getting info on a file

I can't stop Preview and set Photoshop to open all graphics files with a .pdf ending. When I get info on a .pdf file the "change all files like this" button is greyed out.
What am I doing wrong? Adobe advises using .pdf. Is .pdf less portable in 10.4.4?

Osx lion get info reporting incorrect file size

Hi all,
I am trying to troubleshoot a strange problem I am having with Adobe Revel. Adobe have been helping me to resolve it but my mac is displaying some odd behaviour which I need to explain and which may be affecting the adobe app.
The adobe app creates a library file of pictures and the file should be growing as I download more pictures. If I right click on the folder and "Get info" the folder size shown is smaller than I would expect at 25MB given that it should contain a good number of Jpeg files.
I have downloaded an app called "Grand Perspective" to help me manage disk space and for this particular file it reports a completely different (much Larger) file size than "Get Info" did (155 MB) which is much closer to what I would expect to find and it is growing as more pictures are downloaded.
Any idea what could cause "Get Info" to report the wrong file size.
I have another osx Lion mac with the same software loaded and although a completely different machine, it reports the same file size for this library folder as grand perspective does.
Any help gratefully accepted.

I'm finding the same behaviour running Lion 10.7.2 and the file with the exact same problem as yours is a Sente (bibliography software) library containing references and pdfs. 'Get Info' reports it as 130KB but I know the file is much much larger than that! Even the Size reported on Get Info shows 874.4MB which is still too small. If I 'Show Package Contents' on the file and 'Get Info' on the 'Contents' folder which it then shows, I get the correct size of 1.14GB
Apple Tech Support over the phone wasn't able to explain this behaviour.
