"Get Info" only displaying "more info" 1 time

Strange problem here.
When I select a file in the finder, and hit cmd-i to "get info" it displays as expected. The "More Info:" section is complete. If it's an image, it gives dimensions and color space etc. If its a pdf, I get page count, title, creator etc. Everything works just fine.
If I then close the info window, then later (or immediately) return, "More Info:" displays only two hyphens: -- . This happens on every file. First viewing of get info works fine. Close it, open again, and I only get -- in the More Info section.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this?

I tried to edit before you saw the .pist because I misread that it also didn't work in the test account. The issue is systemwide and requires a systemwide approach. I wish I could pinpoint it more. I realize how nagging these issues can be as I frequently use the Get Info command and frequently close and re-open it.
EDIT: Can you shutdown, disconnect the Drobo and try?

It should display the closest ones. I would ask someone around your office what the name(SSID) of the WIFI network that is your company(some "hide" the network). Just press "other" and manually type it in with the password. The ipad will automatically connect to it from now on.
Edit: Or just go for a nice stroll around the building until it pops on the list. The list updates every few seconds or so(wheel turns..) Exercise too

ITunes "get info" respond time is slow

As a person who edits tagging info very often, the slow respond time when I click on "get info" is annoying me.
It used to respond immediately, but now I have to wait 2~3 seconds to get the "get info" window up.
I recently switched my computer from Windows Vista to Windows 8, and installed the latest version of iTunes (11.1.4.62, 64 bit version)
This slow respond time did not occur on my previous computer, so could this be a problem with my computer? Is there a way to fix it then?
I tried re-installing iTunes, but that did not solve the problem.

It doesn't look like this has been fixed -- in fact, it appears to have become worse. Now, if I'm in an iTunes window and I pull up "Get Info" on a track, the window comes up and I can edit, but when I press the "Next" button, focus reverts back to the iTunes window, leaving the Info widow hanging there without focus. If I want to add track numbers to a CD that was ripped without them, I have to keep clicking on the info window to restore focus after each change.
What's the problem here, iTunes??

ReturnEvent not get called after search more than 10 times in LOV page

I using ADF and Jdeveloper 10.3.1.2
In my project I have a form which called a LOV page for selecting multiple records and submit button sumup the values of each selected row of LOV and return to the main form and display added value on text field.
problem is when I search records more than 10 times or more I put search criteria and select row on each time. After click on submit the value of each row is sum up return on the main form but it not reflected on main form because ReturnListener not get called .
But when I select many rows more than 10 without searching then the ReturnListener get called when it returning on main form.
So should I do so that ReturnListener get called.
Is it any bug of ADF or Jedeveloper .

Otherwise, post it to the SOA forum if this is initiated by their generated code. The most common reason though is that the task flow lacks a default activity. So if the default activity is somewhat calculated dynamically in your application then this may be a reason

MFC apparantely will only return up to 1000 results when doing searches.

How do I get Firefox to display more than one web site that I am developing using Localhost command?

I write the html code for the four web sites I develop and the one I maintain. I want to view the sites before I put them on the internet. I am able to do this with only one of the five. What, if anything, to I have to change in the browser to allow me to do this? I have edited the host file to include the names of the files on my computer of each of the sites. What should I do now?

You'd like to be able to access each site with its own locally-hosted url, correct? (for example- http://localhost1/, http://localhost2/ etc, )? That's a ''server'' setting, rather than a browser one.
How it works will depend on what software you are running to serve the pages. ''Apache'', for example, uses [http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/ Virtual Hosts] (and in this case, specifically [http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/name-based.html Name-based Virtual Hosts] ). There's usually an example in the configuration file to experiment with (be sure to back it up first).

Itunes 12 will not allow you to paste album covers into the get info section of albums or indivial songs it makes you go to another area on your computer

I tried to do a cut and paste like I used to do for album covers that iTunes doesn't carry( go figure) and the 12 version wont let you instead it has a window pop up for pictures that your suppose to direct it to get the artwork from. That's a lot of work! All I can say is simplify and do more research before the next release. also iTunes has always had problems freezing up. This verion and past verisons. I'd go to a different player put I've already invested thousands of dollars in my iTunes media and the earlier stuff doesn't play on different players. So here I am stuck.

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.

Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.

The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing artwork in all tracks is replaced/removed.

My word files are all corrupted- when i open 'get info' under "More info" they all have 'Photos for Personal Use or Home Display" and Authors: technology

My Word files are corrupted. When I open 'Get Info' then 'More Info' I find 'Photos for Personal Use or Home Display' and 'Authors' : Technology. - Nothing to do with the file I'd just written. My most recent files can't be saved or opened.
Is this Malware or some other kind of attack? I grabbed photos yesterday from what seem to be freely available pictures online. I discovered Firevault and Firewall were both turned off. (I hadn't checked before.) Any suggestions?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start
with Option #4 and then #1 as needed.

Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Why does the "more info" of "Get info" get erased after the first time I look at it, and how can I get it back?

When I download a graphic, photo, or PDF, I can get information about it, including size and the web address of the download, using Get info. But in Mountain Lion, after I look at a file once, this information disappears. This wasn't true of Snow Leopard, though I can't remember whether it was true of Lion. In any case, it seems like a bug. Is there a way to recover this information?

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox

Get info saying only 108 gb used up on the hard drive, but it's at least 3 times that

Just wondering what the explanation for this could be. When I select the HD icon and choose "get info" in the file menu, it says that the HD file size is 108 gb, with 642 gb available. There is at least (on a rough count) 300 gb used up on the hard drive, with music, photos, movies, documents etc. They haven't been catastrophically erased or anything like that, they're all still there. So why is my hard drive saying only 108 gb used?

Have you compared this with what System Information>Hardware>Serial-ATA and what Disk Utility shows?
You might download OmniDiskSweeper from the Internet (free) and open it. This will show all of your files and the respective sizes.

Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. The "legacy" metadata editors, for which there was a "back door" in iTunes 12.0, have gone from 12.1. However, the revised editors in 12.1 provide access to (almost) all the metadata elements that were available in iTunes 11, albeit in a different layout and with some additional constraints based on media kind. Some users have / will have an issue with the statement that "Get Info has been completely redesigned in iTunes 12 to focus your attention only on what’s necessary for the selected item" since that removes some metadata elements that people may have been using in creative ways. iTunes 12.1 basically gives you access to the fields that Apple think are necessary ... . Some of the things that have been excluded by this rule:
track and disc number fields for video media kinds
show and episode fields for music
description tab for audiobooks made up of more than one file
Obviously the first two examples can be regarded as "overloading" the metadata elements - i.e., using them in ways that the designers didn't intend - but given that some users do find valid cases for this it's a shame that they've been deprecated in the new UI. There are couple of workarounds:
in songs view (or any of the other columnar views), you can still select any fields to display, independent of media kind, and these can be edited (though only one at a time) by double-clicking in the relevant "cell"
you can (temporarily) change the media kind of an item (or group of items) to get access to metadata elements that would otherwise be inaccessible.
It may be worth submitting an issue via https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html - I can't see it as a huge development task to have a user preference to switch between "show all fields" and "filter fields based on media kind".
One other oddity/irritation is that some of the tabs don't, by default, show all the available fields - you need to scroll up/down to access them or to expand the window by dragging on one of its corners. Fortunately, the latter seems to be persistent - once you've done this to make all the fields visible the editor will open at the same (larger) size when opened again.

"more info" in Get Info showing "--" instead of actual infos for newer videos and images

I've just noticed that when I click on "Get Info" on my newer pictures and videos, the "more info" section is now showing "--" instead of the dimensions of the images and videos. However when I go to my older files, the info is showing. Also if I search any of the newer files (those with the missing info) in Spotlight, it doesn't show up. I've done some research and some people suggest reindexing Spotlight, but that never worked for me. In fact, even if I exclude a folder in my Privacy list, it's still showing as a result when I search them. I'm sure this is a problem with Spotlight as it stores the dimensions info, but since reindexing it is not a solution, can it be solved in some other way?

It takes time on newer things, but might have to be opened first or something.
If you want, you can clear the caches with OnyX (#12) and that would rebuild and repair the entire sub-system.
