"Get it now" App charge?

What is this charge? It is repeatedly showing up on my bill and I have no idea what it is. I googled it, and turns out there is a class action lawsuit against Verizon for adding this charge for no reason... I cant call customer support right now since I am at work, and cant find anyway to contact them online.

You don't mention what kind of phone you have, so I will assume you have a basic phone.
A "Get it now" app charge could be for any type of app which was downloaded to your phone or a monthly charge which is associated with apps that had already been downloaded. Examples would be VZ Navigator or Mobile Email. These apps can come with a monthly fee, but not all do.
You should go into your "Get it now" menu and see which apps are installed on your phone. If there are some you don't use, you can delete them which would stop any monthly fee which could be associated with the app.
If there are some you don't recognize, it is possible that someone else downloaded it to your phone. I have had people download things to my phone without my knowledge before which is why I am a bit more selective to whom I will loan my phone to now.
To question items already on your bill and/or have a chance of having the charge removed, you would have to call CS.
To have a better chance of having any of these items removed from your bill, you would most likely have to have Verizon put a block on "all" purchases of this type. Otherwise, that would be a reason to suspect you wanted to try an app but didn't want to pay for it. Some of these paid apps have a trial period, but unless you delete them prior to the end of the trial period, you will be billed for the monthly charge.
Edit: more examples would be ringback tones and ringtones you downloaded from Verizon.

    I just recieved my bill... for a HUGE shock. I have 18 charges for get it now downloads! Before I call customer service, I'd like to see if there is anyway I can find out what exactly was downloaded. It is possible that one of my kids got a hold of my phone over the past month, but if they did, they removed everything they downloaded! I'd just like to see what's going on, as this isn't the first time it's happened. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

    If you log in to your MyVerizon account, on the HOME tab, click MyMedia, and it should show you a list of all the apps, ringtones, etc that you (or someone) have downloaded.
    If you are on a family plan, it's possible they are using their own phones to download ringtones, music, games, etc.

    That was for basic phones.  It is not needed for android phones.  Apps and games can be downloaded using the Android Market.

    The first line of prevention is you.  How were these "unauthorized" charges even made in the first place?  Was it a child under your control?  Did you leave your device around unattended?  Did you lose the device and not take steps to cancel features activated on the device?  Did you not read the fine print and note that some applications have secondary charges or subscription services?

  • Get It Now charges

    I have been charged $9.99 to one line for "Get It Now" download since August of last year. I have called a few times and gotten the run around... oh, I can't tell what it is..etc.   I called today and the customer service rep told me that I have no subscriptions on my account and that the charge should not be ther. He credited the current bill (did not remove any subscription or on going charge) and told me that is all he can do.  How do I prevent this charge from reappearing and how do I get the now $109.88 that I have been erroniously charged? 
    I does appear on my bill as Need 4 Speed application, but the customer service rep confirmed that Need 4 Speed does not require a monthly subscription and there is no number to text "STOP" to.  Also, the application was on the phone when I purchased it and it will not allow me to remove the app.  Tech support advised me to "force stop" the app and leave it alone. Any help would be appreciated. I love Verizon Wireless but I cannot resolve this issue I am ready to switch carriers over it.

    I feel your pain.  I just called about this exact issue.  I informed them of your situation and they said the same thing that you have been told  "there is no subscription and it is a one-time charge".  They wouldn't even reverse the charges because they said we DID download it.  We are both in our 50's and we have no interest in any games other than cards.  Yes we have Grandchildren, but they were not around the day it was downloaded.  They would rather play on our PC's or Tablet PC's instead of a small phone.  This is very aggravating.
    We did find the app under the "manage apps/media area".  It was listed as NFS something.  We uninstalled.  You can try this as well and I hope it solves your problem.  We couldn't "Force Stop" as it was not a running app.
    If this charge is on my statement next month I am going to be furious and will NEVER recommend Verizon to any one ever again.

    Our Bill for the last two months indicated that one of our phones called "get it now" and downloaded something.  The person who owns this phone has no idea what that even is.  Is there any way I can find out what she downloaded, and when it occurred?

        Unexpected charges are no good KENNYHEBEL. SuzyQ was correct that Get It Now is where you can download all sorts of great things like apps, ringtones, music, and more. To see exactly what was downloaded, log into My Verizon http://bit.ly/xB4iTc as the Account Owner and select "View Printable Bill". When you scroll down to the end of her line's charges and usage, the download charge will be detailed with what was downloaded as well as when.

    If you've turned VoiceOver on then see if triple-clicking the home button turns it off, and then change what Settings > General > Accessibility > Triple-Click Home is set to.
    Otherwise, via 'the touch to select double-tap to activate' process you need to go into Settings > General > Accessibility > VoiceOver and turn it off
    The manual (http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad) also says that you should be able to switch voice-over off by connecting to your computer's iTunes :
    Turn VoiceOver on or off in iTunes: Select iPad in the iTunes sidebar. In the Options section of the Summary pane, click Configure Universal Access. Select VoiceOver, then click OK.
    So select Configure Universal Access at the bottom of the Summary tab and set Seeing to Neither

    First turn off auto-renewing subscriptions:

    Getting a refund won't be as simple. For that you will have to contact iTunes Store Support.

    Reset the device, restart the device, try downloading any other app.
    All of these are basic steps that could have been found by a simple search of the forums as a resolution for the issue.

    Need help. I've only had my iphone4s for over a week or so and had no problems downloading free apps and purchasing apps using my bank card. I haven't brought any apps for 2 days now and I'm trying to update one of my apps I've purchased and it keeps saying billing details wrong and notice that my security code is not there so I've put it in and then it comes up with my payment has been declined. I have no reason as to why this is happening as I have money in my account and why exactly is it saying that when I'm only updating the app. I've even tried to get a free app and again it says the same. I've tried deleted every detail and re-doing it but nothing. I don't know whether it's to do with when I synced my iPhone on my laptop 2 days ago and my laptop died so it didnt sync completely so maybe its to do with that or to do with my bank.     Fair enough. The only reason why I asked for help is simply because I have never had to use my bank details to download a free app or to update an app. Not only that i have no idea how to work this phone. So I was concerned. And thought that the matter could be easily rectified hence why I posted this. Obviously if I had tried to purchase an app and I didn't have no problems in downloading and updating an app that Ive purchased or downloaded for free already then I would definitely know for certain that it would have to be with my bank. Same way you go to "a shop" and is given something for free, your not going to be concerned when someone asks for your bank details? Your going to investigate right? Ask questions? And thats exactly what im doing. And as for your rude/sly comment about throwing my phone, I don't expect you to care. I was simply trying to add humour. Thanks for your help anyway.

    The current bill says the same.
    Actually, now I'm realizing that last month's bill stated I was making the first payment toward the phone. Now this month also says it's the first payment toward the phone when it's really the second.

    If you are running iTunes 11 and if you didn't figure this out yet, when you launch iTunes - go to View>Show Sidebar from the menu at the top of the screen. Once you can see the sidebar, iTunes looks so much more familiar.
    The "new look" iTunes doesn't appeal all that much to me, I just want the functionality that I have always had. It's still there, its just been hidden with a lot of fluff and visual wow that I really don't care about .... Just my opinion.

    Unfortunately, as recommended by the lady from CA, as long as the Mac is still associated with the Apple ID of the original owner, you can't even buy those iLife apps with that Mac. You will always get the alert to download them with the original owner's Apple ID.
    As suggested by the chavo from España, you need the original owner to contact Apple Care* and request that the OS and the iLife apps be disassociated from his Apple ID. Then you should be free to OS X Recovery to resinstall the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac and install the iLife apps. Afterward, before using any of the iLife apps you need to open the Mac App Store (MAS) to the Purchases pane and Accept these apps into your MAS account's Apple ID. If you use any of the iLife apps before you have accepted them into your account, as per the app's Terms of Use, they all become one-trick-ponies that can not be downloaded onto another Mac or updated.
