Get It Now charges

I have been charged $9.99 to one line for "Get It Now" download since August of last year. I have called a few times and gotten the run around... oh, I can't tell what it is..etc.   I called today and the customer service rep told me that I have no subscriptions on my account and that the charge should not be ther. He credited the current bill (did not remove any subscription or on going charge) and told me that is all he can do.  How do I prevent this charge from reappearing and how do I get the now $109.88 that I have been erroniously charged? 
I does appear on my bill as Need 4 Speed application, but the customer service rep confirmed that Need 4 Speed does not require a monthly subscription and there is no number to text "STOP" to.  Also, the application was on the phone when I purchased it and it will not allow me to remove the app.  Tech support advised me to "force stop" the app and leave it alone. Any help would be appreciated. I love Verizon Wireless but I cannot resolve this issue I am ready to switch carriers over it.

I feel your pain.  I just called about this exact issue.  I informed them of your situation and they said the same thing that you have been told  "there is no subscription and it is a one-time charge".  They wouldn't even reverse the charges because they said we DID download it.  We are both in our 50's and we have no interest in any games other than cards.  Yes we have Grandchildren, but they were not around the day it was downloaded.  They would rather play on our PC's or Tablet PC's instead of a small phone.  This is very aggravating.
We did find the app under the "manage apps/media area".  It was listed as NFS something.  We uninstalled.  You can try this as well and I hope it solves your problem.  We couldn't "Force Stop" as it was not a running app.
If this charge is on my statement next month I am going to be furious and will NEVER recommend Verizon to any one ever again.

        Unexpected charges are no good KENNYHEBEL. SuzyQ was correct that Get It Now is where you can download all sorts of great things like apps, ringtones, music, and more. To see exactly what was downloaded, log into My Verizon http://bit.ly/xB4iTc as the Account Owner and select "View Printable Bill". When you scroll down to the end of her line's charges and usage, the download charge will be detailed with what was downloaded as well as when.

    First turn off auto-renewing subscriptions:

    Getting a refund won't be as simple. For that you will have to contact iTunes Store Support.

  • "Get it now" App charge?

    What is this charge? It is repeatedly showing up on my bill and I have no idea what it is. I googled it, and turns out there is a class action lawsuit against Verizon for adding this charge for no reason... I cant call customer support right now since I am at work, and cant find anyway to contact them online.

    You don't mention what kind of phone you have, so I will assume you have a basic phone.
    A "Get it now" app charge could be for any type of app which was downloaded to your phone or a monthly charge which is associated with apps that had already been downloaded. Examples would be VZ Navigator or Mobile Email. These apps can come with a monthly fee, but not all do.
    You should go into your "Get it now" menu and see which apps are installed on your phone. If there are some you don't use, you can delete them which would stop any monthly fee which could be associated with the app.
    If there are some you don't recognize, it is possible that someone else downloaded it to your phone. I have had people download things to my phone without my knowledge before which is why I am a bit more selective to whom I will loan my phone to now.
    To question items already on your bill and/or have a chance of having the charge removed, you would have to call CS.
    To have a better chance of having any of these items removed from your bill, you would most likely have to have Verizon put a block on "all" purchases of this type. Otherwise, that would be a reason to suspect you wanted to try an app but didn't want to pay for it. Some of these paid apps have a trial period, but unless you delete them prior to the end of the trial period, you will be billed for the monthly charge.
    Edit: more examples would be ringback tones and ringtones you downloaded from Verizon.

    I could be the cable or it could be that the connecor in the iPod is damaged.  If the iPod is the problem replacing the cable will not help.  Look at the dock connector on the iPod and the contacts on the cable.

    I have had your exact problem with my old 3GS, now I cannot even get it to turn on, I still see that it is supposed to be charging though, but it never charges any so it seems.
    I replaced the Lower Dock Connector Assembly back when it still charged while hooked to my PC, and it found it made no real difference.

    Did you look to see if there is debris or dust causing the problem? Get a flashlight and take a look to make sure.
    Is there something in the USB end of the cord perhaps?
    You didn't answer this question ....Are you using the charger and cord that came with your iPad?
    You could try changing cords if you have another one available to see if it is the cord. Have you tried connecting to your computer to see if you get the same message?
    You could try a hard reset by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears, let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. Then try the charger again.

    I THINK I have solved the problem. Can't be 100% because I don't want to try a restore. At least the Apple home page lites up correctly with quicktime now. It hadn't in the past.

  • Is there any way to see what Get It Now apps were downloaded?

    I just recieved my bill... for a HUGE shock. I have 18 charges for get it now downloads! Before I call customer service, I'd like to see if there is anyway I can find out what exactly was downloaded. It is possible that one of my kids got a hold of my phone over the past month, but if they did, they removed everything they downloaded! I'd just like to see what's going on, as this isn't the first time it's happened. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!

    If you log in to your MyVerizon account, on the HOME tab, click MyMedia, and it should show you a list of all the apps, ringtones, etc that you (or someone) have downloaded.
    If you are on a family plan, it's possible they are using their own phones to download ringtones, music, games, etc.

    Without knowing what happens when you try to restore the iPod
    Try:                                               
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable       
    - Try on another computer                            
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    A "Get it now" download is content you purchased or subscribed to in the get it now menu on your phone, usually under the media center, in settings...These include but are not limited to: VzNavigator, Ringtones, Games, Wallpaper, or any apps that are designed for feature phones...You would have been prompted by at least two screens that confirmed purchase and subscription. You should log into your My verizon and go to view bill, bill details, charges by line, and look at what the charge is for, Verizon will usually adjust accidental downloads if you call cust care, unless they can see that it is an application you have used (if data was logged)

    There either needs to be a way to block 'Get It Now' downloads completely or a way to at least require a PIN to confirm the purchases.
    My 7-year old daughter was playing the Let's Golf 2 game on my wife's Droid 3, and apparently she was able to just click on a button that approved the purchase of that game... Also a week later another game N.O.V.A. showed up... my daughter isn't admitting that she remembers confirming either purchase, so I called verizon wireless support, who told me that she was unable to credit the original charges since the download was initiated by the phone.  I then was transferred to a supervisor, who in the end proceeded to say that it was my wife's fault for letting my daughter use her phone because it is so powerful for a 7-year old.  She said that since she can see that it was used, she would go ahead and credit half of the charges.  My opinion is that either there be a way to confirm the charges by a PIN or some other way, that they should have a way of crediting the charges.  This is the first time in the year my wife has had her phone that this has happened, and I guess I will have to reconsider keeping the 3 lines I currently have with Verizon as well as those my agency has if this is their standard policy of helping customers.

        @lvshadow - The two titles you mentioned are pre-installed in your device as demos. When the demo is over, there is a pop up, as you mentioned, that asks if you would like to purchase, or subscribe to this application. While there isn't a special pin you can enter, there are certain blocks that can apply to these applications. You can login to vzw.com/myverizon to add these feature/blocks. Keep us posted!

  • How can I tell if my phone is only getting a quick charge if it reads charged 100%?

    iPhone 5c battery is not holding charge for more than 3-4 hours.  It has gone completely dead twice in one day because of it.  Battery says 100% at start.  Apple Genius Bar help said that I'm only getting a soft charge or a partial charge and that is why the battery runs down so quickly.  They recommended replacing my power cords.  Problem is, I have charged it on 3 different cords and it doesn't seem to matter. 
    Took it to Apple store- they wiped it, let it die completely, recharged it to 100% overnight and still had trouble.  Took it back, reloaded everything, phone died, let it charge overnight to 100% and today the battery is down to 40% after about 2 hours. 

    No problem.
    If you took it to the Apple store and they troubleshoot it for you and you still have issues.
    Better to get another phone.
