What is a non postscript printer? I get error that I am printing to a non postscript printer????? I have Windows 7 64 bit and use Adobe Elements 6. This problem started when I got a new HP computer over a year ago. Photos now print so dark and don't come close to matching what is on screen. Never had this problem with my last computer and printer. Has anyone else had this problem and what is a possibly fix? Thanks.

Well, not totally true. I have heard tell of a utility that will turn your computer into a print server and serve up the printer to the iPad/iDevice, whatever. Here are a few links:

PLEASE NOTE: I don't know whether or not it works. I'm trying out the PC one, and if I can't get it to work I'll try the Mac one. But it's an option, and I don't see any harm to it.

Delete the printer in System Preferences and re-add it. You may also want to restart the Airport.

Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. Because your printer shows connected on the Wireless Test Report, I am going to have you run some standard Mac troubleshooting steps to see if we can resolve this issue.
Step 1: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
First, it's important to have a nice clean slate to work with. Therefore, I am going to have you remove and uninstall the software and drivers for your HP Envy.
To start, can I please have you click here and run through the steps on how to Reset the Print System for your computer. Please run through the steps on 'Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X v10.5.x or 10.6.x'. This will remove every printer from your computer. However, this does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, if you use other printers on your Mac computer simply ensure that the printer is connected through the USB Cable or network connected and (+) add the printer back in via the Print & Scan window. Do not add your HP Envy back in at this time.
Next, please click here and follow through with the uninstall steps under the 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' dropdown.
Once the uninstall is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
Go to the Utilities Folder
Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 3: Check for Apple Updates:
Go to Apple
Select System Preferences
Select Software Update
Click Update Now
Install your available updates
Restart your computer
Step 4: Reinstall your Software and Drivers:
Please click here to download the latest drivers for your printer
Once the website opens, select the Download button on the top left
Once the download is complete, please follow any onscreen instructions to reinstall your wireless printer
Once your printer has been successfully reinstalled please test the printing function again to verify if the 'offline' issue has been resolved.

I have a canon mp620 and it has been config to my airport express when it was initially hooked up everything fine..now when I try to print I get "printer off line" where is the online setting...I'm a new switcher and still finding my way

I noticed that you said you uninstalled the printer, but you didn't mention resetting the print system. Resetting the print system will reset the drivers the Mac has installed and make them work like they should. Give this a try and see if it gets the printer working like it should. The document below will expalin more about doing this.

If that doesn't help, see if you are using the AirPrint driver, or the printers driver. By default 10.8 uses the AirPrint driver if the printer supports it, so I'm betting that's the driver you're using. If it is, try using the driver for the printer itself. To do this, access Print and Scan. Click the + sign to add a new printer. Select the printer from the list. Click the dropdown next to Use and select the 7515's driver. Let me know what happens.

OK, I tried a few things, and I do not understand the results.
1) I opened the document in Preview, and it would only recognize the three initial pages which I typed using the Pages App. It did not recognize the bulk of the text which I copied from Appleworks 6. It also did not recognize any of the scans.
2) I tried opening a pdf in Preview, and it would only recognize the scans. (No Text!)
3) I tried copying everything (select all, and command-c) in Pages, and then opened a blank Pages doc, and typed Command-v. This got me all of the text, but none of the scans!
4) I was worried that my Pages app might be corrupted, but I successfully converted a similar 78-page document with copied materials from Appleworks 6 and similar scans, ant this worked perfectly.
My conclusion is that my file must be corrupted. Is there any way to check this? shabda88

Wireless connectivity lost this morning. Don't know why. When running diagnostics, I get message: The wirelss radio is not functioning. Contact HP support.

My HP C309a had exactly the same problem. Everything I found on the internet said that the printer could not be fixed and the only solution was to buy a new printer. The printer report said the wireless radio was not functioning. A factory reset did not fix the problem either. I had a problem with my HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop with the video graphics IC. The solution for that fix was to do a solder reflow of the graphics IC. Did it and fixed the problem. I figured maybe the same fix would work on my printer as I didn't have anything to lose at this point. I located and removed the wireless radio board in the printer (on the left side upper right corner). I then did a solder reflow on BOTH sides of the board. I put the board back into the printer and wa-la, it connected immediately to the network. It has been functioning with no problems now for at least four weeks now (knock on wood). Hope this helps.

Here is one of the symptoms when you fill out a PDF form with Preview: If you save it and return it to the author, they will not be able to see the text that you've added to form fields - unless they click on a field, which will reveal the contents of just that field. When printing web based .pdf or regular .pdf I get message "This document failed to print". I've ran the HP Diagonistic tool and no errors are found. I've gotten the same message on many different .pdf's so I don't believe it is a margin issue.

Are the static IP addresses inside the DHCP range? If so, move them to ones outside the range.
Also, have you set the IP address in the printers' embedded web pages (via IP address in a browser) to match the ones set in the router?

Keep getting a printer offline message

I am trying to print a MS Word doc in Windows 7. I am using parallels to run windows, 7 I think. When I connected the usb cable to my mac I selected the WIN option. When I go to print from Word I check for the correct printer in the Word print panel and I see the green check for my HP 1510 printer. I select print and nothing happens. I get a Printer off line message. I have rebooted mat MacBook Pro to no avail. Same thing.

I don't use Parallels, I use VMWare, so I can't give you exact instructions but try something along these lines.
What you need to look for when you are running Parallels is the setting to take over or connect to the USB port. This will allow the Windows environment to use devices connected to the USB port. In this case it will allow the Windows 7 environment to connect to and print to the printer that is connected to the USB port.
Once you quit Parallels it will release the USB port so it can be used by the Mac once again.

Running Mavericks, when I try to print on my HP LaserJet 1320tn I get the message "Printing - The printer is in use." and nothing happens. Worked fine with Mountain Lion.

1. tried to print form a different add
2. deleted and reinstaled the printer
3. deleted and reinstall the printer drivers
4. reset the printing system
there's no problem with the printer or the wireless as (1) i can print using my partner's mac with mountian lion and (2) I can see the printer on my own mac (mavericks)
Any more suggestions?
