Get metadata from VM within vAppTemplate

I am trying to obtain the MetaData currently created on a VM within a vAppTemplate in a vCloud Catalog.
If the vApp is deployed to my cloud I can get the metadata without issues with the below code:
$Sourcetemplate = Get-CIVM -name $SourceVM
$DestinationTemplate = get-CIVM -name $DestinationVM
$metadata = $sourceVM.ExtensionData.GetMetadata()
$DestinationVM.ExtensionData.CreateMetaData($metadata)
But I'd like to skip the deployment of the vApp just to get it's metadata. I know I can make a REST call to get the info but I'd like to stick solely within powershell. Anyone have any thoughts?

This is possible, but you'll need to dig into the actual template in the catalog. for examples:
PowerCLI C:\> $temp = Get-Catalog "Brian Graf" | Get-CIVAppTemplate "vRB std w/PowerCLI 5.8 -BG"
The following will display all the VM's within the template. there are several ways you can get metadata off those vms
$temp.ExtensionData.Children.vm
You can get the metadata off of a specific VM by specifying it's order
$temp.ExtensionData.Children.vm[2].Getmetadata()

Error getting metadata from WS

Hi to All
I wrote the WS and want to use it in my Dynpro DC, then created DynamicWSproxy for my WS with name LoggingProxy and import model to Dynpro using this proxy alias as defaultMetadataDestination and defaultExecutionDestination.
Everything was fine - application works and got the correct result. But today i get message:
'com.sap.tc.webdynpro.model.webservice.exception.WSModelRuntimeException: Cannot create instance of model class for model model class name 'FindLogAgents' as this model class name does not exist in runtime metadata. Probably runtime WSDL and design-time WSDL 'http://<url:port>/LoggingServiceXX/Config1?wsdl&mode=sap_wsdl' are inconsistent.'
This url was used to import model, but as far as I understand it, there must be some mistake. URL from LoggingProxy alias should be used instead of given url from error message in runtime. Visual admin shows that LoggingProxy exists and point to correct url location, basic authentication method used.
Testing WS through WSNavigator is ok.
5 apps use this service and all of them gives such message (but differs in class name)
I try to reimport model in dynpro but got no changes.
What I'm doing wrong?
What part of code or setting I must check?
The very strange situation that I test my application during one week and there were no errors.
P.S. this is my first time developing and using web service.

A couple of things you could try, this is in most cases due to the fact that the WSDL URL used during design time & the one used during runtime are not the same:
- Check that WebDynpro tracing is setup as per note 742674.
- Try & re-create the error & then check the defaultTrace for more error info.
- Maybe also try re-importing ALL 5 apps with the correct runtime WSDL URL. The problem sometimes is that maybe one of the 5 apps could be using an older/different WSDL URL & if that app is executed then it invalidates the metadata contents in the cache for the 4 others that may be using the correct WSDL URL.
- You could also try by re-starting the J2EE engine to refresh the metadata contents in the cache as this metadata is persistent.
- Do a comparison between the WSDL URLs for 'http:///LoggingServiceXX/Config1?wsdl&mode=sap_wsdl' & for defaultMetadataDestination or re-import the model using the URL for defaultMetadataDestination instead (if different).
- One last thing you could try, add an additional parameter to your WSDL URL that won't affect getting the WSDL like a version e.g. 'http:///LoggingServiceXX/Config1?wsdl&mode=sap_wsdl&version=1.0' to create a new cache key for the WSDL URL. Use with caution & try it with one of the 5 apps first. Remember that if you initiate a call from the other 4 apps using the same service & on the older WSDL URL then the cache contents might become inconsistent again.

I think you should test this with one or two pictures - import/convert, save metadata to file, geotag, read metadata. Also try import/convert, make small adjustment, save metadata to file, geotag, read metadata. In iView I often write metadata to DNG's that have been adjusted, then read the metadata in Lightroom - sometimes I add more data in iView and do more adjustments.
I have seen the problem you describe, but it has been with raw files which I have adjusted in Lightroom but haven't saved out the metadata. I have then created an xmp sidecar in iView, and read the metadata in LR. So the sidecar had no ACR/LR instructions. The result was that my adjustments were wiped out. What I suspect is that something similar is happening with your DNGs - that conversion creates them but doesn't write the ACR/LR fields.
So try a few alternative sequences.

Metadata from epma Planning application to classic Planning application?

Hi!
I am creating a new classic planning application, but I would like to use all the metadata from existing epma application.
I'm wondering whether it is possible to get metadata from an existing epma planning application to a classic application? Is this possible using LCM?
Or do I just need to get an ads file from the epma planning application and then create a csv file that I would then load into this new classic app using for example OutlineLoad utility.

You should be able to export the metadata from the planning application using LCM, you could also see if the outlineload utility will let you export, can't remember if it allows it even if it is EPMA enabled.

Also, a tool bar has shown up for YAHOO which I did not request. The old detailed tool bar for Firefox has disappeared. All that now shows for Firefox is the area to enter website urls and an area to enter topic for a Google Search.
Many times I have to exit Firefox and re-enter it later to access the internet.
Please advice what I need to do to get back to the speed I had with the older version of Firefox.

IP routing doesn't work the way many folks might initially think it does; functional IP routing requires manual configuration and the establishment of static routes and default routes specific to the local network configurations, and it's very easy to get it wrong, or to get the default route swapped. Multiple NIC boxes don't magically work, either. (Been there, done that, wondered what happened to my network when the paths got reordered or my route settings were messed up, etc.)
Routing configuration errors can be quite subtle, too. (Again, voice of experience. Ever had a thousand-seat office LAN accidentally routing through your desktop? As the, um, unnamed guilty party discovered, getting into that configuration was subtle. Seeing the performance crater on the fellow's box and on the LAN was obvious.)
Knowing how IP routing works is a prerequisite to getting this configuration to work; there's manual configuration required. Clearly something has gone weird here.
What to do? Read up on IP routing. I'll again suggest the threads and the manual mentioned earlier.
And in general, I prefer to avoid using my comparatively expensive Mac boxes as sub-optimal IP routers or as firewall boxes. General-purpose operating systems and generic x86 boxes are going to be inherently poor IP routers. Dedicated routers (or embedded or surplus x86 boxes with routing software loaded) offload the Mac boxes here, and are also typically easier to configure manage. And "real" IP routers can have hardware specific to efficiently routing packets. Use of an outboard firewall or firewall-router box also greatly simplifies gateway routing, too; it's a configuration that many folks and many businesses tend to use.

C++ code to get XMP metadata from pdf files ??

I am new to this field and now I have to write a C++ code which will read the XMP metadata from any pdf files. Could anyone please tell me how to do that or where to start? Is there any sample code available for that?
I am reading the Programmer's guide and XMP specification to have the whole idea.

The same code for reading other formats will go for Pdf too.
Only difference is while reading PDF it is not calling any smart filters.

Should i use pipeline in order to get data from file path to create metadata?

we use sharepoint 2013 to index file share and the folders structure represents data as project name / subject etc.
Do you reccomend use pipeline capabilities in order to create metadata from those folders name? (so we will be able to use it as refiners later).

Can not get data from mySql

I'm very new to mySql as server. When I was assigned
to write the application, the administrator has set
up mySql database in the company web server for my
application. My program runs very when using my
workplace desktop with java web start or with java
web start in netbeans (all paths should be link to my
desktop hard disk, i.e. users/application/). I can
not run the application at home because I can not
access to the company intranet server (for security
purpose). The problem happens when I post the
application in the company web page (I have to modify
all paths in jnlp file to the company web address).
The program then runs without exception except it
seems that it gets no data from the database (for
example, when I type my username, it returns that
"There is no such user name. contact.." as what I
code in the application for not correcting user name)
It happens for not only using my company desktop but
also for others.

Seeing as how you get that error, the obvious answer was, "No." At which point we could have continued.
Configure the needed users into the DB, without forgetting to allow them access from the machines from which they are going to access from.
Although, I agree with Rene, that you should set up a server of some sort, located on the same machine as the DB, for communicating with the DB.

Trying to get multiple cell values within a geometry

I am provided with 3 tables:
1 - The GeoRaster
2 - The geoRasterData table
3 - A VAT table who's PK is the cell value from the above tables
Currently the user can select a point in our application and by using the getCellValue we get the cell value which is the PK on the 3rd table and this gives us the details to return to the user.
We now want to give the worst scenario within a given geometry or distance. So if I get back all the cell values within a given geometry/distance I can then call my other functions against the 3rd table to get the worst scores.
I had a conversation open for this before where JeffreyXie had some brilliant input, but it got archived while I was waiting on Oracle to resolve a bug (about 7 months)

BTW, if anybody wants to play with this functionality, it only seems to work in 11.2.0.4.
Below is the code I was using last, I think it is trying to get the cell values but the numbers coming back are not correct, I think I am converting the binary to integer wrong.
Any ideas?

That's a good spot and as it happens I spotted that and that is why I am sure I am querying that lob wrong. I always get the a logic going past the total length of the lob.
I think I am ok using 11.2.0.4, if I can get this working it is really important to us, so saying to roll up to 11.2.0.4 for this would be no problem.
The error in 11.2.0.3 was an internal error: [kghstack_underflow_internal_3].
Something that I think I need to find out more about, but am struggling to get more information on is, I am assuming that the lob that is returned is all cell values or at lest an array of 4 byte (32 bit) chunks, although, I don't know this.
Is that a correct assumption or is there more to it?
Have either of you seen any documentation on how to query this lob?

CS6 Mac- How to disable metadata from showing in web gallery???

Does anyone have a way to stop metadata from displaying in my web gallery main image display? I am trying to create a simple html web gallery of some images from within Bridge output module. Thumbnails look ok, but when I click on one and get the large image, at the bottom of the page it is displaying all sorts of info that I don't want showing!
There does not seem to be any way of turning this off.
I am on a mac 10.9.5, Bridge CS6

I think part of my problem is that I was working from Nikon RAW files and converting those to a web gallery. It's been a while since I made a gallery in Bridge, but as I recall now I used to shoot RAW + JPG and use the jpg images for output to web gallery.
I just did this your way and it worked fine. I never used the Export menu before. Does it automatically default to JPG? I don't see any options to do tiff, PSD etc. Obviously jpg is what I need for web, but wondered if output file kind could be changed in export somewhere. I suppose this is what Actions are for. Adobe could make this simpler by having a check-box in the Web output that gives the option of including metadata or not.
Anyway thanks for your help. I really appreciate it. Been hitting my head against the wall about this.

Error: Could not read Metadata from Portal Database !

Hi All!
My problem is when i am trying to open the portal page (Oracle 10G)

then i have an Error: Could not read Metadata from Portal Database.
And i do not know why because everything is up and running. I can connect and browse my database schema with portal user. I can connect to pls/orasso and where ever i want.

Hi Andreas,
I've changed the permissions to 775 and changed the ownership of /sapcd (volume name) to orasid:dba (including all files within the staging area /sapcd/ora-patch).
So the permissions and ownership seems to be fine.
I've also ran your suggested commands but the issue still exists.
I'm now liasing with our UNIX guy to check if there is any underlying permission issues on the volume (sapcd) that may be causing this problem.
In the mean time, let me know if you have any further thoughts.

Get photos from camera option in Bridge CS5

I really would like to use the "Get photos from camera" option in Bridge CS5, as it would save me a few steps in my normal workflow (dowload images from my Canon 40D with EOS utility, convert to DNG, delete CR2 files, update metadata with copyright information), but when I try with with a large number of images, some RAW images are not downloaded and converted. All jpg images are downloaded. So I would get e.g. images 1.dng, 1.jpg, 2.dng, 2.jjp, 3.jpg - in othere words the 3.dng file would not download. Any help would be most sincerely appreciated.
BTW - when I use the Canon EOS Utility, all files get downloaded, but then these are all cr2 files.
I use Windows 7 64-bit as my OS.

On further testing, it appears that the download function works fine as long as the "Convert to dng" function is left unchecked. So the file loss occurs during the conversion process. I have looked but cannot find an answer - is there a way to batch convert downloaded cr2 files to dng from within Bridge? Or does one have to load up the DNG Converter separately?
