Get more episodes is gone in iOS 5

A large part of what I use my iPad for is listening to podcasts. One important part of this has been the "Get more episodes" that was present in iOS 4 that would allow me to...get more episodes...without having to hunt down the podcast all over again in the iTunes store.
I'm hoping that this feature has just been moved, and not simply removed. If so, I'd like to request that it be brought back. This makes my iPad less useful than it was before. It makes it more important that I have a computer to plug this into, not less. The cord is not cut.

First, sorry to say and I know that I am in the minority but I don't listed to music on the iPod. I use I-Heart-Radio to listen to talk radio, watch videos, and listen to podcasts.
This is also a feature that I have used quite a bit and while I understand that IF the podcast has been subscribed to, and IF you are within range and connected to your wireless network, and IF the iPad is plugged in, and finally IF you sync the iPad, you can update your subscriptions.
Wouldn't it be so much nicer if the "More" button as still there?
I love my iPad, I mean really love it! I am a converted PC user and I just can't get enough of it. I would really like to know from the Apple higher ups why items like this AND SIRI were left out of the iPad revision of IOS 5? I just can't buy the "processing power" reason.
Enough of this, please bring back the "More" button for podcasts.

IPad podcasts " get more episodes" function gone ?

Hi all,
Not sure if I have missed something but after the ios5 update(?) on my ipad2 podcast support / functionality seems to be reduced.
- the " get more episodes " option has disappeared for each podcast
- " podcast" media type has been moved to the more section, with no option to customize.
The only way to get additional podcasts seems to be individually via iTunes and manually search for each podcast. If this is the case then this process for me is a significant step backwards.
Hopefully I am missing something.
Ps. Is there anyway to roll back to an old firmware. (4.3.3 ?), can it still be downloaded.

I really would like to go back to older version instead of os5. They have ****** up my podcasts and i am ******. when I tap on the podcast playlist it doesn't play.
Then when I get it to play by first starting the podcast in another apt then coming back into the apple app, the podcasts don't play consecutively. WHAT KIND OF A **** IS THAT!!!
Was it because Steve Job passed away why apple is all ****** up now?
Soon I'll be gettin rid of this piece of **** and buy a Galaxy tablet!

HT5295 Has the "get more episodes" link gone away with the new ios podcast app? If I want another episode of a podcast, I have to exit the app and go to itunes and search for the show and episode?

Do I really need to navigate out of the app to simply download a new or different episode in the Podcast app? Was a simple one touch before, but maybe I am missing something.

Nevermind, I realize you must the have subscription button (in settings) turned to 'on' in order to manage/DL episodes.

Why has "get more episodes" disappeared from the Music App in iOS5

Since I upgrade to iOS5 I have noticed 2 "downsides" to the "iPod" replacement app "Music".
Firstly the "get more episodes" has disappearwed from the podcast pages as has the symbols as to which track is playing or is unplayed.
Apple please may we have these facilities back?

I don't care for the changes to "music", formerly "ipod", app either. Even the icon color is a bit much compared to the old ipod icon.
I really miss the "get more episodes" and hope it will be back soon. It is a good feature, and one I used every day.
The format is harder to work with.
If one podcast is playing or loaded and paused, I don't seem to be able to activate a different podcast.
All but one or two of the podcast icons just show music note instead of podcast picture.
Button to switch back to list of podcast episodes seems to be gone as well.
Missing the played/unplayed as well.
There is no 30 second replay button on the broadcast as far as I can tell.
I seem to be getting all episodes listed on a podcast page, but not all of them are even loaded.
IOS5 didn't really improve the podcast format/experience, but has made it less user-friendly. IMO

Podcast 'get more episodes' no longer works

Hi,
I download podcasts directly to my iPhone, however I have noticed in the last week Apple has made this harder.
It used to be that if you pressed 'get more episodes' you would get a list of podcast episodes which you could then download. Underneath this seemed to do the following:
1) iPod application displayed 'get more episodes'
2) once link pressed, Safari opens goes to a certain link that then redirects to
3) iTunes, which then opens listing the podcasts, allowing you to download
Now it seems to do the following;
1) iPod application displayed 'get more episodes'
2) once link pressed, Safari opens goes to a certain link that displays an iTunes preview window, listing the podcast episodes in HTML form, which you cannot play or download.
So now, I have to go to the iTunes app on the iPhone, search for the podcast, select it, see the episode list, and then download it there.
Anyone else have this problem?
Know if it firmware version specific?

HT4291 I just bought a used iPod touch that was held out as 2d generation. Turns out it is not. My problem is that I cannot reach the iStore or get more episodes for my podcasts when I am using wifi. Any help for a technical novice?

I purchased a used iPod touch advertised as 2d generation. I later found that it is first generation. I can use the device for my limited purposes but only when connected to my desktop. For some reason that I can't figure out, I am unable to download "more episodes" for my podcasts or otherwise connect to the iStore when using my wifi connection. Can anyone provide a fix for this problem. Note that my technical skill level is about 3 on a scale of 10.

When I select "get more episodes" in my podcasts it freezes

FOr the last few days I have been unable to update my podcasts on my iPhone 4S. I have shut all apps down, restarted phone and not sure why this is happening. Any help to fix would be appreciated.

I have an IPAD2 that I upgraded to IOS 5. There is no option to get newer episodes of podcasts from my Ipad. Why the feature degredation ??

I used to be able to sync my podcasts to my Ipad2 in the previous release of the OS via the "Get More Episodes option", That option is not in the current os or if it is its not easily found.
Why do I have to sync my subscribed podcasts via my PC for this supposedly syncless os ?

The whole purpose of me buying an Ipad was so I wouldn't have to keep things in sync via a PC. The previous version of the OS did an excellent job of that. Now I have to connect at least 1 time a week to keep up.
This is a clear feature degridation and not a very good one, and I'm NOT HAPPY AT ALL about this. I'm actually glad my Ipod is generation 2 because at least its still useful on the previous OS.
I hope you fix this bug in an upcomming release.

I'm also on iPhone 4, iOS 6, and have exactly the same problem. I've tried resetting privacy settings, turning restrictions on and off, deleting and reinstalling apps. Nothing seems to work. The lists of apps in privacy settings are all empty, except for location services. When using Tweetbot the app is regularly asking for permission to access my twitter account, but even when I allow that, the app doesn't show in privacy settings. When I try to go into the camera roll from the Facebook app, the app tells me I have to allow access to the camera roll from the privacy settings - which I can't do since the app is not listed there.

While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Update using iTunes on your computer. The space requirement does not apply because of how the process works via iTunes as opposed to over the air.

If I purchase an entire season for a show, I should get it even if more episodes are added later right? Plus, how do I access an old account without access to the email it was created with?

Issue 1: I had purchased the entire season of Off Limits, and downloaded the available episodes when purchased, yet the season wasn't over. Since I purchased the entire season, I should be able to get the episodes added since then instead of having to buy them seperately like iTunes is asking me to do correct? Issue 2: Also, I had an old apple id on a computer that crashed and never got the chance to change it over to the new email even if the purchase was transferred via my iPod I was using at the time, and is on the pc i'm using now. Yet when I go to play this file, it asks for the password for the old email account (which I no longer have access to) and this has been nearly 7 years ago so I forgot what the password is to that acct. What do I do to rectify this and play this particular purchase?

How to get more control over DVR recordings

Looking for some advice on how to make sure the DVR records (and keeps) the episodes I want.
An example:
I want to record a series that is still producing new episodes, but is also in repeats in syndication. For example, Big Bang Theory. This has new episodes each week on CBS, but has about twenty or so repeats each day on TBS.
Due to the high number of repeats, any new episodes pretty quickly get overwritten by the repeats. So is there a way to record both first-run and repeat episodes, but prevent the first-runs from getting overwritten before I can watch them?

Put simply, I cannot change the settings on how I record each show.
Try the Box's Menu/customer support/tops support tools/Fix Fios TV option. (exact working may be different on your box)
