I am trying to get a song, which i have as a you tube video, on to my itunes collection, the song is not available for purchase on itunes, is there anyway i can do this.

Looks like I solved my own problem by going to itunes, preferences, advanced, media folder location.

Problem getting music from Ipod to Itunes

I have a 2nd Gen Nano and recently had to reinstall my operating system (Windows XP), which required me to back up my music. I had no external HD at the time and not enough discs so I sync'd my Ipod and stored all 812 songs to my 4GB Ipod. Now that I am back up and running, I have re-installed everything and again downloaded Itunes and authorized my computer (I only have one authorization left apparently, any way to fix this as well?).
The problem is that only songs I purchased from Itunes are in my Library. How do I get the 812 songs on my Ipod to my Itunes Library? I thought I could do it with a sync, but a window popped up saying that it would delete my current Library. I know little to nothing about computers so any plain speak will help. Thanks.

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

You can't do anything about that until you hit the maximum of 5 authorizations.

How can I get music (not purchased from iTunes) and photos from my iPad onto my MacBook?

I just recently had my hard drive replaced and lost all of my music and photos from it. I have all of my music and photos backed up onto my iPad and iPhone via iCloud.
I was able to download all of my purchased music from iTunes, back onto my MacBook. The problem is, how do I get the other music and photos from my iPad, back onto my MacBook?

i cannot find the way to import my music whuich is already onto the ipod into the itunes folder? i reformatted my computer and transferred all my music files onto the ipod to save them but i cannot get them back onto the computer!!

By doing some research I found out that it seems to be difficult, but haven't found the solution.
Would be helpful to post a solution (if there is one) or share the information that there is none, instead of just suggesting more research...

Is it possible to get music from iPod to iTunes?

THis question is not as stupid as it sounds. I recently had to purchase a new computer because my old one with all my music files crashed. I have all my music files on my iPod and wanted to know if there was anyway I could take them off my iPod and put them all into the iTunes on my new computer. I also had my iPod to synch with iTunes and I want to turn that option off but I am not sure how to. If anyone knows the answers to either of these questions your help would be greatly needed. Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

How to get music file name in itunes

OK I have some music files on pc side. wav files mostly. Some of them have proper id tags, some don't. When I try to import tagged ones to itunes I get only partial info preserved. So either I have to edit tags manually, which is tedious work, either I have to burn to cd and then import. The best is last way, but there is tremendous cd waste involved. Is there easier way to import files? Is there something like virtual cd for mac? I tried using disc utility, but nothing happens. Itunes doesn't recognize files...
There are verbatim 32x cd-rw too, has anyone any experience with them? Speed is good and would solve waste problem too.

HELP ME PALEEEZE!!!! how to get music from iPOD to iTUNES on new computer

I bought this iPOD overseas and started the music downloading thing from the iTUNES on my friends' computer.
Now I'm back home in the states and have my own computer and don't have a clue how to get the music from my iPOD to MY computer.
How can I get ALL this music from my iPOD to MY computer? I don't want to lose all this music b/c I don't have the cd's b/c I got the music from someone else.
I'm new to this iPOD game as you can tell any help would be greatly appreciated. Please help me!!!!!!!

Hard drive crashed, I restored my itunes music from a backup, but the backup was not updated, I'm missing music that I have on my iphone playlist, this music I got from a friend, I didn't buy it from itunes. Question: How can I get this musica from the iphone into my itunes library???

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases.
You may be able to purchase a third party program ( not supported by Apple).

There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

Getting music on new computer Itunes

I got a new computer, and I got my purchased music to go on the new Itunes. How do I get the other music (from my CDs) onto my I-pod? I dont have the old computer, just the music on my I-Pod.

One of the new features in iTunes 7 is allowing the iPod (has to be version 1.2 for Video iPod I think).
Authorize your new computer (when you put iTunes 7 on it after you get it) by going to Store -> Authorize Computer. Put in your store details and Authorize.
Then, connect your iPod and go to File -> Transfer Purchases from "(iPod Name)" and it will put all the purchased music from your iPod to your new computer.
For your other music, just turn disk use on for your iPod. To do that, go into your iPod Summary page and check 'Enable Disk Use'.
Then select all your non-bought music in iTunes and copy it into your iPod (if you have Windows it will show in My Computer).
Then just copy and paste it from your iPod to your other computer through My Computer.

Can't get music from desktop to iTunes?

My dad sent me a recording, and I downloaded it onto my desktop. But I can't figure out how to get it onto my itunes? Before you say it, I've already tried importing it, and usually it works when I just drag it in, but it didn't work this time. HT1535 Whatever all the topics I cannot get music to download fron ITUNES to my IPOD Classic

Itunes recognises my ipod but will not enable download of any music. The ipod has 127GB of space left.

Here's what I did. I took songs and right-clicked them and clicked "add to playlist" I clicked on the name of my ipod shuffle, and it appeared in the contents section of my shuffle's zone. I made sure that the checkboxes next to the songs were checked, then clicked sync.
