Get my iPhone bookmarks to my MBP?
I recently had an issue with my HD and had to revert back to a cloned backup. However, my bookmarks got lost somehow and now I'd like them back. The weird thing is that they are on my iphone, but not on my MBP safari browser. How can I 'export' from iphone to MBP? I have a MM account and syncing is on, but it's not syncing to Safari on my MBP? Any ideas?

IPhone bookmark sync all messed up
I have iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.3 and a MacBook with OS X version 10.6.8.
I don't know when the problem started, but my iPhone bookmarks are totally whacked out. Meaning, new bookmarks and folders are sometimes not syncing from the Mac to the phone, and some bookmarks and folders have been duplicated or triplicated on the phone. Everything is set up as it should be for syncing via MobileMe, but it doesn't work. I get no error messages, as some others have.
Has anyone run into this and found a solution? I'm just about ready to hit the Genius Bar.Plug your phone to your CPU.
Bring up iTunes.
Click on your phone name on the left hand side.
Click on "Info" tab near the top of itunes.
Check to see what you have checked off to sync on that page. If you have mobile me, you should NOT have anything checked.
Apply any changes.
Sync.
You may have to go back and get rid of the duplicates one last time after you do a sync. Or maybe not. -
Hey! I would like to get an iPhone 5s, but I want to have all my saved information (Apps, Reminders, Games, etc.) I know I can use iCloud backup, but does that save absolutely everything or do I need to (for example) write my reminders down somehere?

Syncing Bookmarks erases all iPhone bookmarks
Twice now I've spent several hours gathering and organizing bookmarks on my iPhone. Then when I sync with a fresh copy of Safari, one with no bookmarks, it deletes all bookmarks from my iPhone rather than transfer them to Safari.
I see an option to push all bookmarks from Safari to the iPhone, but no option to pull all bookmarks from iPhone to Safari.
Is there a way to recover lost bookmarks from the iPhone, perhaps by restoring an iPhone backup? If not, I've lost hundreds of now unreplacable bookmarks.It turns out that Allan Sampson is incorrect in his understanding of what data gets restored from backup. He claims that any data that is synced is not restored, ie. music, videos, calendar, contacts.
I just completed the process and here is the scoop of what you can expect when you restored from a backup.
First, you cannot simply restore a backup; rather you must do a full and entire restore process. This restore process will first check to see if a newer software update was available, and if so, iTunes will commence the download, as was what occurred for me. I'm guessing that if newer software version was not available, it would have reinstalled the last iPhone package from my computer.
After downloading new software, the iPhone was reset to factory defaults, and the new software was installed. At that point I was offered the option to restore my iPhone backup, or set it up as a new phone. Of course, I selected my backup.
After the backup was loaded, here is what occurred:
1. Custom icon arrange was not restored;
2. SMS threads were restored
3. Calendar was restored
4. Maps were restored
5. Camera Roll was restored, but all other photos were not; will have to be synced
6. Notes were restored
7. Weather locations were restored
8. Clock locations were restored
9. Stock picks were restored
10. Favorites, Contacts, Recents and Voicemail was restored
11. Mail was NOT restored. In Box and Sent Box contents were gone; I did not have any mailboxes for storage on the iPhone so I don't know what would have happened to stored mail.
12. Best News of All -- Booksmarks were restored!
13. No Music or Videos were restored; will have to be resynced
Therefore, some syncable data is restored from backup: calendar, contacts, bookmarks.
Now, it's back to figuring out how to get my iPhone's bookmarks to import into Safari. I have a feeling it's going to have to be done by hand, as I don't want to risk looking my bookmarks again. This restore process, including downloading updated software, took a couple of hours to complete; something I'd like to avoid in the future. -
On 10/16/14 I downloaded 11 critical Windows Updates (I have the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Pro).
All updates ran successfully, but after the updates, Firefox would not run. Instead I got the error “Couldn’t Load XPCOM”. Internet Explorer was working. I reinstalled Firefox . I did not delete it and then reinstall it, I just downloaded Firefox.
That worked and I can now use Firefox, but I have several other problems:
• I lost all my Bookmarks
• I lost some of my History. I can only view history for “Today” and “Yesterday” in the Library. I am missing “Last 7 days” (except for 10/16 and later) and “This Month” history view.
I have been trying to research how to fix this on my own for the past several days, even though I am very non-tech savy.
I tried the following, but none of these things has corrected the bookmarks or history problem:
• I did a System Restore to 10/13/14
• I tried to do a System Restore to 10/12/14. I got the error “Did not complete successfully. Unspecified error 0x8000ffff”.
• I reset Firefox to its default state.
• I tried to change the Privacy setting for Firefox history from “Remember History” to “Use custom setting for history” followed by checking “Remember my browsing and download history”, “Remember search and form history”, and “Accept cookies from site”. I am unable to change this. It always reverts back to “Remember History”.
I located only one Profile Manager, which I found by going through the Windows start menu with "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" –p.
I found "bookmarkbackups" under my Profile Folder. The oldest bookmark folder listed is from 10/16/2014.
Could someone please help me get all my Bookmarks and History back from before the 10/16/2014 updates? Thank you.Hi askmozilla, yes, the Previous Versions tab in the Properties dialog for the places.sqlite files in the oldest of those folders.
I'm not sure whether Windows can match that file up with earlier restore points once the folder is moved from its original location to the desktop.
I wonder whether there is any way to access the restore point created on 10/16 just before Windows installed the updates. That really would be the best place to look if possible. -
So i have 29 albums and my computer says it has 2.55gb on the itunes, and im planing on getting a iphone 5 that has 16gb or 32gb and idk which one to get? Idk but i just need to know how much storage that can hold 2.55 gb of albums and rest of the apps and pic i gonna put on this iphone 5 im getting! please help!!!!! (16gb or 32gb?) If maybe can i get some tips about Storage!
I certainly owuld not get the 16 Gb. My old phone had 32 Gb and it was pretty much full. I just depends on what you wan tto place on it in the way music, apps, videos etc

I got an iphone 4 a week ago and i havent hooked it up to itunes yet until today. I plugged it into my computer and itunes doesnt reconize it. My itunes syncs just fine with my ipod touch but it wont sync with my iphone at all. How do i get my iphone 4 to sync to my itunes?

I can't get my iphone to let me connect to itunes. It keeps teling me can not connnect to itunes. This is after I just updated it to the new 6.0
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
My iphone is not working, i was planning on getting the iphone 5s for christmas, but i do not have my phone backed up on itunes. You wouldn't need to see the screen to backup unless you have a passcode on the device. Is that the case? You should be able to plug the device into the computer with iTunes and just select backup now.

When a pop up window comes up it is - search bookmarks and history window! I cannot log into my bank as login button should open new window to log in but I get the search page. I cannot see larger images as again I get the search bookmarks and history page etc. Happens on all options that should open new page. i'm on MAC OS X 10.5.8. Still runs great but now i have no itunes as i've followed this post that covers my first issue. i've followed it correctly to the part of re install the latest version of itunes and i cant.
i've been running logic pro on this mac and i have no issues so i've not upgraded software etc.
i need a way around this problem without having to upgrade the OS if there is one.
does anyone please have a suggestion that doesn't involve spending hundreds of pounds?

My big issue is I would like to retrieve my contacts
I have an iPhone 3GS that has been regularly synced to my iTunes 9.02? on an older powerbook running 10.4.11. I would like to have a new iMac but the delivery time currently for the configuration I wanted is 8 - 10 weeks.
The iPhone has been regularly crashing so the local Apple store advised me to upgrade the OS which I was only able to do using a PC as I couldn't do it using my Mac.
Now I'm stuck. The iPhone is asking me if I want to restore from itunes (on the PC which as far as I know has nothing on it) OR from icloud which seems to have only one contact (me) OR to set up a new phone. I cannot use my old Mac now as when I plug in the phone it tells me its not compatible.
Am I screwed? Should I give up, get a new blackberry and just forget about Apple after being a loyal user for 25 years?
Can I somehow find a way to get the iPhone backup from the old Mac itunes up to icloud?I solved my problem eventually by getting all the devices - 2 iphones, the newish pc and the older Mac on icloud.
All media, calenders and messages were lost from the iphones, except for purchased itunes that I paid another $30 to Apple to save for me and also paid Appple some more to use icloud but the good news is I did save my contacts
I opened all of my contacts and pretty much had to edit and drag them over almost individually as they weren't all in some sort of configuration that Apple liked - i.e. if an email address ended in ch or es or de it might not be accepted as a properly configured vcard.
It would be nice if Apple made it a litle easier when you have older devices and need to get them in sync with newer ones. -
Things have just kind of escalated. We started with the ipad and she really liked it. Then we were given an itv and it worked so nicely with the ipad, that we decided to get her an iphone. We've been buying music, tv shows, movies, taking photos, looking at them on the tv using photostream. But now I'm getting an iphone and plan to by a macbook or mac mini some time soon, and I'm wondering how I can setup my own account but still have all this really nice seamless sharing across devices. If I buy an album on my phone, I'd like to be able to play it on the itv (which is setup with my wifes account). And so forth.
I hope I've explained my concern and someone can point out how to set things up so that things remain as seamless and easy as they are now.
