From where do you want to get this? On the client? In that case you can use client_win_api_environment.read_registry to get the value from the registry (if the client is on Windows. Don't ask me which key :-) ).

Tried both ways in the Wiki, still can't get network printing work

Hi,
I have tried both the client and server ways following the Wiki, still could not get network printing work.
For the first way, I tried to put either the host name or the ip address (starting with 192) of the remote printer into /etc/cups/client.conf. But both Okular and Evince failed to see the printer in the dialog.
For the second way, with cups-browsed running, it only managed to discover printers in my local network (ip starting with 137) which I have no access. I tried to manually add the printer using its ip, but it still did not work.
What can I do? I have spent hours trying to work it out but failed. I would appreciate a lot your help. Thanks.

How to get Network Printing to work with Brother!!

So i have my BROTHER DCP-7020 printer connected to my Windows machine and i've been sharing the printer on the network with my old iMac 24' which prints perfectly. Now i have the 27' imac and i have no idea why it won't do printing via network, plugging in USB works fine, i've installed the driver but it doesn't look like it did anything. It just worked on my 24' without any hassle, it gets detected in the "Printer Settings" automatically and i dont recall doing anything to get it to work before.
Can anyone give me some tips of why it won't print and what I need to do in order to get network printing to work on my new Mac?
By the way BOTH MACHINE runs SNOW LEOPARD.

Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

If nothing in photoshop has that shortcut other than your action, perhaps that's a shortcut that some
other running software is stealing from photoshop or the operating system itself has that shortcut assigned to print.
I know some computer manufactors often have different functions assigned to some shortcuts that will override the photoshop keyboard shortcuts.
What happens when you use the shortcut F12 in another program?
Are you using any kind of macro program like AutoHotKey?
Are you using a laptop?

Get (variable) file path and name in a text element

How do you get the (variable) file path and name in a text element (label) in LCD? If you save the PDF and afterwards relocate it, it should update the values. Is that actually possible?

Does anyone have any advice on this issue?

I am trying to install this printer but I always end up in same place.
The install always stops wih the error "The Printer and the Computer are Connected to Different Networks"
The IP address of the computer is 192.168.1.93
The IP address of the printer is 192.168.1.94
My home network is conneted to the Internet via a AT&T Uverse. The gatway is 192.168.1.254.
The DNS is also at 192.168.1.254.
I can ping the printer from the computer at 192.168.1.93
I can access the printer via the web at 92.168.1.94 wih the usb cabel disconnected
Because I am at the max limit of the U-verse 2Wire box range I have installed a NetGear WiFi extender model WN2000RPT as an extender only, no DHCP or other features.
The configuration has supported other printers and the installing computer is connected via WiFi. I also have another computer at this same site that connects via WiFi.

Problems between HP network printer, WRT55AG, and wireless-G devices...help!

I'm having a weird problem that I just can't figure out. If I connect my HP LaserJet 2605dn printer via Ethernet to my WRT55AG router, all of the devices on my network (wireless-A, Ethernet) can see/access the printer except for the wireless-G devices. However, if I connect the printer via Ethernet to a wireless-G bridge, and then use the bridge to connect wirelessly to my router, my wireless-G devices can access the printer without any problems.
Here's a little more info. If I reset the router, the wireless-G devices are able to access the printer (connected to the routher via Eithernet) up until the point when I enable WEP...then the printer is inaccessible from the wireless-G devices. I've made sure that all of my WEP keys are correct; besides, the wireless-A devices can access the printer with WEP enabled and the wireless-G devices can connect to all the other devices on the network.
I suspect that something is screwy between the printer and the router. Using the wireless bridge is an acceptable work-around, but it bugs me that I can't get this working the "right" way.
Oh yeah...the firmware on both the printer and the router is up-to-date.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers for the printer?

Getting network printer to print

I have now set up my new officejet 6500 E709n wireless printer. I can print fine from my master computer, where I set up the new printer. I am unable to print from my laptop on my network. Network sharing is turned on. When I try to "add a printer" the computer directs me to a list of manufacturers ... I chose HP. But the 6500 series is apparently too new to be on the list I see. The list goes only to the 6200 series. An option given is to "use disk". When I put this into the "E" drive of the laptop, it recognizes the disk and gives a long list of file folders. Under "drivers" there are only two choices ... dot4 and scanner. I tried dot4, but there are more files.
I just don't understand how to educate my laptop about the new printer so I can add it to my list of printers, from which I can then select it for all printing.
HELP!

Are you trying to share a USB-connected printer? Why? Even if you get it to work it will only share printing,not scanning.
Why not connect your printer to your router (wired with Ethernet if possible)?

I have just purchased an HP ENVY 450 e-All-in-one printer and followed all the instructions. Now when I try to print anything, I am told that the printer if 'offline'. When I gi into Devices and Printers, the printer is shown as Offline and Not connected. How do I get it online and working?

I am developing Monthly wise report in FICO. My Inputs are Company Code, Fiscal Year and Date Range. From the Date Range I have to get the month and Generate the Report.
For Ex:
BUKRS : 1000
GJAHR : 2009
FKDAT : 01.04.2008 to 01.04.2009
From the Above Date range how can I get the individual month names or periods. As per my Knowledge I can get the month value when the date is parameter but here the date is ranges. Is any code available for this ?

Windows 7 and network printing with printers with "built-in" win 7 drivers

I'm trying to get network printing (i.e. printing to a printer not attached to the
PC) working.
This works fine for newer printers that have a specific, new Win-7 64-bit driver
written for them, but I can't get it to work for any printers (generally older printers) that just
use a driver that supposedly "comes with" Windows 7.
The problem is, the Windows 7 "Add a Printer" wizard does not automatically find the driver
for these older printers (like the DeskJet 950c or LaserJet 4300n) and so it wants you
to specify the .inf file for the driver package. This is fine when HP supplies a downloadable
driver package, but for these older printers, they do not. Instead HP just says "no
download is needed because the driver is included in the operating system" and to just
plug in the printer (via USB or serial cable) and the OS will autodetect it and set up the right
driver. Unfortunately this plug-and-play solution does not work when you're trying to set up
a PC to print over the network.
What can be done? Is there a generic driver package that one can download so as to
satisfy Windows 7's need for an .inf file?

When the printer list comes up click on the "Windows Update" box in the lower right. This will update the list of drivers available and will likely take several minutes. Once the update has been done the available drivers will show up.

Printer Sharing and Windows Sharing with Windows Vista

Today I tired setting up a printer sharing network over my linksys wireless router. I turned the printer sharing on and the windows sharing on my mac. Then I launched my notebook with vista on it and installed Bonjour for Windows 1.0.3. Once the installation finished I ran the wizard and installed the shared Epson Stylus Photo 1280 printer.
Once I finished the wizard I gave the printer a go.
I tried printing a word document on my Vista machine using the new wireless set up and nothing happens the printer queue gains the document spools it and then it's gone. Then, I tried using Vistas Sharing set up. After setting up another printer icon (the same printer). When I go to print I get an error message.
Also when I try accessing my shared folder from my vista machine. I use my Username and password for the login. The computer responds that my Mac Mini's username and password is incorrect. Thus, I cannot fileshare between by Mac Mini and my Vista Laptop
What can I do to get my printer sharing and my windows sharing set up to work.
(also, my Epson Stylus Photo 1280 Printer is hooked up to my mac mini through USB).

Which may also cure the Printer Sharing problem.
Oh. make sure Printer Sharing IS NOT set on the Mac, if it is turn it off & reboot.

Wireless Print Server and Macintosh

I am using a Linksys Wireless Print Server WPS54GU2. I have a HP LaserJet 1012 printer hooked up to it. i have a iMac and a Dell Windows PC. From the dell Windows PC, the wireless printing is working fine to the laserjet, however i just bought my mac and i am trying to setup the printing but it is not working.
When i connect the printer directly to the mac through USB, it prints fine. However when I connect to through the print server wirelessly, i can see the printer through Applettalk and it does a test print (but it prints garbage). The problem that i see is that the drivers for HP LaserJet 1012 are not listed under the HP Model. So not sure what i need to do.
Also, how do i print to a printer which is shared by a Windows machine?
Has anyone got any direction?

HP wrote the OS X driver so that it ONLY works with USB. To get network printing, install the hpijs and ESP ghostscript driver "set:"
