Get no printdialog in iPhoto 08

Hallo together
i have MacBook Pro 2.00. When I use the iPhoto print dialog the Button just flashes one time and nothing happens. In all other apps the printing is possible.
I found differnt postings in the forum but no answer.
I delete the preferences, delete the package, delete the application, install iPhoto again, install the Printerdriver again and do everything what i have found. Another user do all this to and said that it does not work. There are no more replys after his last posting. I try again. Is there anybody who have a solution for this problem.
Thanks for you replys.
Desperate Greetings
Richard

Richard:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You've done everything I would have suggested as the first try. Download and run the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 followed by a repair of disk permissions. See if that will help.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

You can't.  iCloud is not for general file backup from a Mac. It's for backup up and syncing data between mobile devices and and Macs and  The following is from this Apple document: iCloud: Backup and restore overview.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.

"View Film Rolls" is not Highlighted.... how can I get to it? (iPhoto 6)

Since you're using the term Rolls you must be running iPhoto 6 or earlier. For future problems be sure you post in the iPhoto 6 or forum.
For this problem the View File rolls will only Be sure you're clicked on the Library. That menu item is not available in an album or other item. If you have clicked the library icon first and it's still grayed out close iPhoto, delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and then try again.

  • IPod Touch 64GB activated October 2013 - how do I get the free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps?

I purchased (from an authorised seller - Dixons Duty Free, Heathrow) and activated an iPod Touch 64GB on 18th October 2013 (prior to the announcement of free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps but after the 1st Sepember 2013 date in their conditions). It had iOS6 preinstalled. I've updated to iOS7. How do I get the free iLife, iPhoto and iMovie apps? The App Store is trying to charge me for theese.

Problem solved from information found in another thread....
If your iOS device was activated for the first time after September 1, go to the App Storeon your iPod which should open to Featured. If not, tap on Featured at the lower left of the screen & scroll down to Collections & tap on New to the App Store? then scroll down to Apps Made by Apple & tap. You should now see the iWork & iLife apps as "FREE."

I try to open I photo and  I get the message, your iPhoto library is damaged...please restore from backup. But i din't made backup copy. How can i delete previous library and work wrom the new one?

Try this (assuming you're using iPhoto 12): make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the three fixes below in order as needed:
      Fix #1
delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
    Select options #1, #2 and #6.
    Fix #3
Rebuild the library using iPhoto Library Manager as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • How to I get pictures file to iphoto

I have downloaded pictures from email and saved it in pictures, but now I don't know how to get those pictures to Iphoto.  It says it's an alias?

    Greetings,
Locate the Pages document wherever it's located on your computer and click once on it to highlight it.
Go to File > Duplicate to make a backup copy of the file.
Click once again on the file to highlight it.
Go to File >  Get Info
In the "Name & Extension" category remove the ".pages" extension and put in ".zip".
Close the info window and double-click the now renamed pages file (zip file now).It will decompress into a folder which contains all the base components including all the images you added.  These can be dragged onto the iPhoto icon to import them.
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I get photos from the iPhoto import folder to the iPhoto library?  It uploaded, but hung while deleting from my camera, so no imported photos are in the iPhoto library.

How do I get photos from the iPhoto import folder to the iPhoto library?  It uploaded, but hung while deleting from my camera, so no imported photos are in the iPhoto library.  I watched it upload about 400 photos, one by one.  They're somewhere, but they don't appear in the iPhoto library. As iPhoto was deleting them from my camera, it got hung up, then a message came "you should eject before disconnecting a device."  I hadn't touched the camera.  The message came by itself.  I couldn't get iPhoto to respond, so I disconnected the camera and did a Force Quit.  Opening it back up, the pictures were gone.  Can somebody help me?

What version of iPhoto are you running?  Assuming it's iPhoto 9 or later Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. I have iPhoto 11 with Lion and when I try to post photos into MobileMe in Share I get the message that iPhoto is not connected to internet. Can anyone tell me how to connect iPhoto to internet?

My solution, which is not much, is to restart iPhoto and it then connects to the Internet. This has been an ongoing unsolved problem.

  • Can't get photos out of iphoto

arghhh... i'm super frustrated because all of a sudden i can not get my photos from iphoto to 1. go into photoshop 2. to even go on the desktop and 3. to burn to backup
I see them on my iphoto and in the folders they are supposed to be in but i feel like they are completly lost and don't know what to do about it. if anyone has suggestions i would GREATLY appreciate it! thanks
    lindsey jane

    Lindsey,
did you do organizing in the iPhoto Library folder in the finder? It seems that iPhoto cannot find the image so there for you cannot even drag it to the desktop or even view the image. Did you rename the files in the finder or rename folders or even deleted files in the iPhoto Library folder in the finder?
I am thinking you did and you may have to create a new library and import the images from the old library to see what images are left.
Depending on what you did there are different ways to recover your images.
If you deleted files and folders or renamed A LOT of images you need to start over.
Page 2 gives instructions. Follow the first paragraph and #2 for importing.
If you just renamed some images Old Toad has a solution for that.
"There is a way you can recover your library. Here's what I developed and it worked for me. But make a backup copy of your iPhoto Library folder beforehand just in case:
How to recover those photos lost due to renaming in the Finder
1 - do a search of just the iPhoto library folder with the following criteria:
File name contains ".jpg" (or .psd) and File size is less than 1 KB. (You can just do a search for File size less than 1 kb but do not delete the other zero sized files that are of a non image type).
That will find all of those zero sized files that were created when iPhoto couldn't fine the originals.
2 - move those zero sized image files to the trash.
3 - now delete those "bad" photos from the iPhoto library using the normal method within iPhoto (if you don't they will be recovered every time you do a library rebuild with the "recover orphaned photos" option selected).
4 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and when the rebuild menu comes up select the last option, "Recover orphaned photos in the iPhoto Library folder".
This will recover those renamed files and put then in a new roll. The only downside is that their titles in iPhoto will be "Roll xx-1, etc. You can do a Get Info on them, find the actual file name and change the title so they are the same.
So it can be done with a little work.
The only way to rename files that have already been imported into iPhoto is to export them to the desktop, rename them there and then reimport. Once imported you can delete the original set.
You shouldn't encounter problems when embedding the metadata into the files. But to be absolutely sure, pick one test photo and give it a go.
You do know that you can use Photoshop from within iPhoto as the editor of choice, right? Just go into iPhoto's preferences and in the General pane under "Double-Click Photo" select Photoshop as the editor to use when you double-click a photo. The only caveat is that when you go to save the edit you must use the same filename, extension and location that you found the file in. If you must create a layered or otherwise pdf file it must be saved to the desktop and then imported as a new file.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.
    O.T."
