Get out of safe mode in windows 8.1

How do I get out of safe mode in windows 8.1

Hi,
To get out of Safe Mode, you can try this:
Control Panel > icon view > Administrative Tools> System Configuration >
Boot Tab > UNCHECK Safe Boot
Then Restart.
If the you still fail to get out of safe mode, considering that corrupted drivers cause your issue:
Please open Device manager, and remove drivers about Video, audio, Network adapter, Bluetooth and additional USB device and try to reboot to see what's going on.

  • How do I get out of safe mode in windows 8.1

I entered Safe Mode in my Envy TS 15 running windows 8.1 to fix some issues with my Norton software and now I can't figure out how to exit back to normal mode.  Internet is shut off in safe mode (even though I selected safe mode with networking) so I can run any of the Help & Support resolutions.  Anyone know how to do this?

    Nanna,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
    Try / Consider
Control Panel > icon view > Administrative Tools> System Configuration >
    Boot Tab > UNCHECKSafe Boot
Restart/ Reboot the computer and log in
    OR
Another path to the same place:
    ·         Start the notebook and let it start up in Safe Mode
    ·         Log in
    ·         Windows key + R(Opens the Run Window)
    ·         Type msconfig
    ·         Opens the System Configuration Menu > Click Boottab
    ·         REMOVE the tick next to Safe Boot > Applyto save
    ·         Restart/ Reboot the computer

In addition, you might make sure your security router is set to
    Encryption type AES
    and
    Security type  WPA2-Personal

For later, this is real useful to have and it is easy to set up.  I have done this.
Safe Mode can easily be added to the boot screen!

  • I wanted to trouble shoot, put comupter in safe mode , now its stuck , closed FF 3 times, re-started computer, still in safe mode.how do i get out of safe mode

i wanted to do trouble shooting, i put computer in safe mode & now i can not get out of safe mode. I've closed FF & re-started computer 3 times, even shut down computer, still in safe mode. What do i need to do to get out of safe mode?

    Hi,
Please see this article: [[Firefox is stuck in Safe Mode]]
I hope that helps. Post back if not.
    --Edward
EDIT: Just noticed that you already rebooted. You say that you "put computer in safe mode". Is firefox in safe mode or your whole computer?
If '''Firefox''' is stuck in safe mode despite reboot
    * Check that the shift keys on your keyboard are not stuck down.
    * Uninstall firefox and install again (your settings will not be lost as they are stored in your profile folder).
Let me know if neither of those works.

  • How to get out of Safe Mode?

    Hi,
I started up in safe mode and was able to trouble shoot a peripheral problem. However, I still have a HD icon on my desktop. How do I get out of Safe mode? I did restart a couple of times but the icon continues to appear.
    Thanks!
    S

If you have rebooted, then you are no longer in safe mode. The HD icon is not an indicator of being in safe mode. If you don't want to see hard drive icons on the Desktop, you can set that preference in Finder -> Finder menu -> Preferences -> General.

  • Need help getting out of safe mode.

It is my mother's thinkpad model 1838A11, I downloaded games for her through google play store, the apps show up in the apps section in the settings but no where else.  Can't find them or play them, then noticed down in the bottom corner it says safe mode, I have very little experience with tablets but safe mode doesn't sound good to me. Could someone please tell me how to get it out of safe mode or tell me what else the problem may be, I've  shut it off and back on while holding volume up and other things, but safe mode still pops up.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get out of Safe Mode?

I have a vintage 2007 iMac that is very slow since the Yosemite and Mavericks upgrades. Apparently I've used up all my RAM (1GB x 2). After speaking to a technical adviser over the telephone a couple of weeks ago, he talked me through a few things within safe mode and said it may or may not help but worth a try. Last night I tried to go through the procedure of removing both the above operating systems, but didn't really know what I wa doing and was guessing command letters on the keyboard.
What I want is to just get back to normal mode so that I can use my slow Mac again. Nothing woks. as you've guessed, I'm a complete novice. Any advice would be much appreciated please. I put in a call to Apple support this morning, waited for half an hour only to find I that I had called wrong support team and was then cut off.
    Thanks, Kathleen

Thank you Paul for your quick response. Unfortunately this doesn't work. I must have tried 2 dozen times to restart, sometimes pressing various random keys before the Apple logo appears, sometimes not pressing anything. To get out and back in I have force shutdown.
What happens all the time is that I keep getting the Language window and then a box called OS X Utilities, then I've no idea what to do. The first option "Restore from Time Machine Backup" - I don't even know what Time Machine does. I don,t backup anything - my work production usage is nil. Then "Reinstall OS X" keeps telling me that I'm not connected to the Internet - yes I am. I only have wifi which has never let me down, I'm sending this via my iPad. "Get help online" wants a Safari log-in keychain - don't know what that is and in any case still says I'm not connected to the internet. Finally, in "Disk Utility" I've tried every which way and nothing is accepted wherever I put it.
Any further suggestions will be most welcome.
    Regards, Kathleen

  • Cant get out of safe mode

HP tech support took over my computer in an attempt to fix a problem with my HP printer.  The screen has been turned back to me in the safe mode.  I have attempted several time to close the safe mode and go to normal mode using on screen instructions
from Windows Help and Support but nothing works.  HELP. Thank you

    Hi,
You can also try this registry fix:
Safe boot is administered in the registry:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Option]
    "OptionValue"=dword:00000001
You can change OptionValue back to 0 the return to normal mode (after reboot).

  • I can't tell if I have Mozilla 5 or Firefox 3.6. But it always says it is in SafeMode. How do I get out of safe mode?

There are no more details. Firefox is listed as being in Safe Mode and everytime it opens I have to request that it either open in Safe Mode or choose the settings I want and then start up Firefox, but it never retains the new settings and goes back to Safe Mode.

  • Firefox 3.6.13 keeps starting up in Safe Mode, offering options to get out of Safe Mode, such as Disable all add-ons, restore default search engines.

Other options it offers: Reset toolbars and controls, Delete all bookmarks except for backups, and Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults.
My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium, version 6.1.
This is a new computer, came with IE 8, but I don't think I used it much before downloading and making Firefox my default browser. I made some changes in the default home page, added some bookmarks, added Firefox's suggested Add-ons, updated them, and am running AVG freeware version 10.0.1191.
Please help me get Firefox to run in normal mode.

I also have this problem and it just started in the last week or so. It seems to be dependent on my home network and the problem only exists with firefox. I have used chrome and IE8 with no issues. I can verify tomorrow that it only exists in my network but one thing I was able to test is that the problem exists even on my linux boot. I am totally dumbfounded with this problem and I can't find anything that will allow the gmail page to load. All other pages I have tried load fine, all be it a little slower than normal but they load. If anyone knows of a difference between firefox and all other browsers on how it goes through the router I would appreciate the info cause I don't know of any differences.

  • Enable Safe Mode in Windows 8 (legacy style)

    Hi all.
I was looking around and found this gem.
Run Command prompt as Admin and type (copy/paste the following line in command prompt):
    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
press enter.  Safe mode can now be accessed using f8 (NORAMLLY) at the boot screen.
    to revert:
    command prompt as admin:
    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard
    Press enter.
Alternatively, you can enter this at ANY ADMIN COMMAND PROMPT.  So, if you can't boot your system, but can get to command prompt, you can use this.

  • HT201210 I have followed the restoration guidelines mention here but I keep getting the same error; 2009. At the end of my tether and don't what else to do as my phone can't get out of restoration mode. My computer is HP DC500 running Windows XP Pro with

I was updating my iPhone 3g from iOS 4.1 to 4.2.1 when suddenly I lost network connection and the process failed. I have since tried to restore my iPhone 3g with no luck. I keep getting the error code 2009. Which instructs me to check my computer is up to date and all third party security software are turned off. I have done all these pulled out all usb devices but for the one that is my internet modem. I am running Windows XP Pro SP2 on HP DC500 minitower. How do I get out of restore mode. Thank you kindly.

Not sure if you were told what error 2009 is caused by so I'll let you know if you havn;t been informed. In the article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 is says:
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

  • Updated. See 3 new Qs at bottom...After XP system restore back to earlier FF version, FF won't open, it's in safe mode. How can it be opened out of safe mode? Can precious, previous History be retreived?

THIS IS A RE-POST OF THE QUESTIONS previously posted, PREVIOUSLY POSTED, now adding a request that 3 new summary questions--at the bottom--be answered.
NOTE: I specifically need answers to the 3 new, summary Qs now posted at the bottom of the Sequence of Events:
    Sequence of events:
    1) I was using Version 3.6.22 and I needed to
    upgrade to Version 6.0.
    2) Before beginning, I set a restore point in Windows XP so that in case I did not like 6.0, I could go back to the restore point which contained
3.6.22 and I would stick with that version.
    3) I did not uninstall 3.6.22 but loaded 6.0 on top of it, so to speak, thinking that would save my history and other features such as bookmarks. Opening 6.0 I was horrified to see it did not contain my history files!...so I had to go back to 3.6.22.
    4) After returning back to the restore point that contained 3.6.22, on the desktop, clicking on the Firefox icon, it won't open.
    5) I went to desktop, in lower left clicked Start, then clicked Programs, and yes Firefox is there as an installed program, however the tag reads Mozilla Firefox (safe mode)...so it's in safe mode and won't
open. What now?---~~~~~(end of original post).
HERE ARE THE EXACT 3 Qs I need answered:
    1) Can I retreive and save MY PRECIOUS HISTORY from somewhere? Can I force new 6.0 to find and retreive it from 3.6.22) And how would I do that? That's the reason I'm trying to go back to 3.6.22, because it likely still contains my history which does not appear in new install of 6.0?
    2) As it stands, go back to previous state now has Firefox 3.6.22 in safe mode. It won't open after XP went back to previous state containing 3.6.22. File tree says Firefox is installed but is now in safe mode. So Q2 is: Can I open Firefox out of safe mode and if so how?--I'd be done because it likely still contains my history.
And if not, can I get retreive my history from it somehow? Or somehow get 6.0 to rediscover it hidden somewhere (Show All History in new 6.0 install was empty).
    3) Do I have to give up on retreiving my history even though it's got to be somewhere in my computer? I did not uninstall anything.
If my history cannot be retreived, then I have no choice but to proceed in life with 6.0 without my precious History, a huge store of info and loss of data for me, big time!
FIREFOX HELP NEEDS TO TELL PEOPLE HOW TO SAVE THEIR HISTORY WHEN THEY UPGRADE TO NEW VERSION and whether or not to uninstall previous FF version first. Please pass this urgent advice on to Firefox techs. I can't even figure out how to email THEM!!!!
Thank you all out there in cyberspace whereever you may be!
(P.S. Cor el, thanks for your reply...how do I reach you by email link does not work....)

What in particular didn't you like about Firefox 6?
You can undo a lot of changes, either via changing settings or prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page or via extensions.
Do a clean reinstall of the version that you want to use.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    *Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Updated my Ipad and now it wont get out of recovery mode.

I have an Ipad 4 and I decided to download the latest update for it.
The download is fine until i pick it up a half hour later and it shows me the recovery mode image. Basically telling me to connect to my computer.
I go to my computer and plug it in, but then my itunes says that in order to connect I have to restore my Ipad.
I very rarely connect my ipad to my computer, and since the last sync I have reinstalled Windows 7, so its essentially a new computer and doesnt recognize my ipad.
Doesnt restore reset my ipad? I have all of my notes from my classes this symester. I cant restore!
No matter what I have done the ipad wont get out of recovery mode.
    So please I need help!!
How do I get out of recovery mode?
If I cant, then dose restore wipe my files? (I dont have a backup, i rarely use my computer now, i just use my ipad)

A "Restore" WILL erase your files but you can save them.  Read closely before you start.
Connect via cable to the computer that you intend to use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.

What exactly are you trying to do? PVRs are for recording from TV not computers.
Either way, if it's complaining about DOS mode, it's Windows oriented software and not Mac compatible.
