Get photos from iPod to PC

I have lost many of my photos. Now the only place I still have them is my iPod. Unfortunately the photos stored there are optimised - they were not loaded as full-resolution type. So now I do not see them as photo files in Windows explorer but as Photo Database. Is there the way to get those photos back? To convert them form ipod to my pC?
Please help!
Gosia

You'll likely need the assistance of some third party software such as the one below to get the job done.  Keep in mind that your photos will no longer be in their full resolution, but instead will be the scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod.

  • Getting photos from Ipod into my computer

I had all my pictures and music on my Itunes, and synced them to my IPod. My computer however recently crashed, and I lost all of my songs and my photos. I found a program that allowed me to convert all of my songs from my Ipod back onto my Itunes, but I haven't found a way to get my photos back on to my computer. Does anyone know how I can get my photos from my Ipod into my computer??

    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2).
There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod.
If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

There are a few third-party programs that can do this for you.
CopyPodPhoto, for example, can transfer your iPod's photos to your computer.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Getting Photos from iPod on computer

We bought TWO new iPods 5th Gen. 60 GB. Of course for the music options but also for the photo options, because one of us is a 'heavy' digital photographer, especially on holidays. We THOUGHT (reading about promised options by Apple!) we could put photos on the iPod (with the connector), look at them, delete the ones we don't like directly from the iPod and once home export the photos from the iPod to the hard disk of our computer to do some 'Photoshopping'.....
    Nada, nothing, not possible!!!
I/we are furious because we spent a lot of money but can't use the iPod like any ordinary Memory Thing.
Apple people admit this is a:
    'NOT-SO-RIGHT-THING-AND-HOPE-THE-COMPANY-WORKS-ON-SOME-SOFTWARE-TO-SOLVE-THIS-PR OBLEM'!!!
    We feel being cheated!
I'm going to bring this problem (false info about possibilities of an iPod) into the attention of all consumer organisations/TV-programs/newspapers in The Netherlands!
IS THERE ANYONE WHO HAS FOUND A WAY TO DO WHAT WE WANT:
1:Delete (bad)photos directly from the iPod without the
iPod being connected to a computer.
2:Export photos from the iPod to the computer.
3:Do 1&2 and be able to see the photos on the iPod.
We would be very grateful to the one who can help out.

In iTunes there is an option to open the iPod as a hardrive. Then you can transfer photos to your computer. See also this which tells you what to do: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301059
There is no way to delete photos from your iPod without connecting it first.

    1. Connect your iDevice to your computer with the USB connector. Open iTunes and select your device from the left sidebar. Then, select the photos tab from the top menu.
    2. Organize and sync.
First choose where you’d like to sync your photos from. I use iPhoto, but you can use any photo management system.
Check the box next to each album &/or event you’d like to sync.
Alternatively, you could put all the photos you want to transfer into a separate folder on your computer, and choose to sync just that folder from the drop down menu.
Notice that I’ve checked the box “Include videos” so any included videos will also sync.
When your selections are made, click “Apply” and the photos will sync to the photo library on your device.

  • How do you get photos from ipod to desktop?

i had a photo and it got deleted off my hard drive, but i have it on my ipod.
i'm afraid to hook my ipod up to the computer cause it might update the ipod and delete the photo
how can i get the photo off the ipod?

If the photos are not in the Photos folder (enable disk use first) on the iPod, you do no have the full resolution pix on the iPod.
You only have photos optimized for the television (about 640x480).

  • Getting photo from ipod

hi can anyone teach me how to get my photos out from the ipod?

Here's my experience. Connect your iPod to your computer via the synch cable. I was then presented with an iTunes synch message warning but I just left the message box up as I went to 'My Computer' and saw the name of my iPod there and I then connected to the iPod. (not sure if that dialog box matters but I was not on my native machine and I didn't want my iPod and photos to be overwritten with someone else materials)
Then, I went into the DCIM folder that I assuming my Nikon d200 created during synch. At that point, I was able to copy the images from the iPod to my computer.
I posted this and another sync issue in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=666904&tstart=0
    I hope it helps!

  • Can't get photos from iPhoto to iPod

My iPod software won't recognize my iPhoto library so I can't synch pictures. When I select the iPod Option to synchronize photos from iPhoto and do an iPod update, it doesn't transfer and photos from iPhoto and in fact it unchecks the synchronize photos option in the iPod software. I'm using a 60GB video iPod w/the current iPod software, iTunes 6.0.1, iPhoto 5.0.4 on an iMac G5, running OS X 10.4.3.

    Here's how to do it:

create a special Album in iPhoto for the Nano and place those photos in it you want on the iPod.
connect the Nano to the Mac and when mounted in iTunes open iTunes' preferences and go to the iPod Photos section - Figure 1.
scroll down till you see the album and select it. If you don't want the full sized image files to be copied to the Nano do not select the Include full-resolution photos box.
close the preferences and when the syncing is completed dismount the Nano and then disconnect from the Mac.

  • How do I get songs from iPod(video) to iTunes(7 and using VISTA).

How do I get songs from iPod(video) to iTunes(i'm using iTunes7 and Vista).
I don't have the disc, cause i can't find it. But my computer downloaded the ipod, it just cant find the files?
i've been looking through the topics for the past hour and none of them helped. Maybe i'm stupid i dont really know, but i've restored my old computer a couple times and i found a post and it helped both times. now i can't find it anymore.
THIS IS THE ONE I'VE BEEN SEEING AND IT DOESN'T HELP ME ONE BIT:
Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    TuneJack Windows Only
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    SharePod Windows Only
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
Can someone give me a link, or tell me one that shows step by step.

Here is a way of doing it, for another take on this, search the forum for posts by Zevoneer.
    Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61148
If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.3/en/2586win.html
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:
    http://discussions.apple.com/messageview.jspa?messageID=797432
Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

How do I get photos from my pc to Itunes to put on my IPAD?

    Hey Sandersincp,
These are the steps for adding digital photos to an iPad using iTunes:
Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device.
    Click the Photos button.
Select “Sync photos from” and choose an album or folder from the pop-up menu.If you’re using Adobe Photoshop Album or Adobe Photoshop Elements, you can export photos directly from those applications to your device by choosing Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose whether to move all your folders or albums, or only selected folders or albums.
To also move the full-resolution versions of these photos to your iPod, select “Include full-resolution photos.”Note:   To move the photos from your iPod to another computer, select this option, and also select “Enable disk use” in the Summary pane. This option isn’t available on iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad. For more information, see Use iPod as an external hard drive.
Click Apply. If it’s the first time you’re adding photos to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, it might take a while, but subsequent syncs should be faster.

how do I transfer photos from iPod to Airbook ?

The photos you synced to your iPod through iTunes are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnails of those photos.  So if you do manage to get them off your iPod, they will be quite small in size compared to the original ones you lost.
In order to get them off of your iPod, you'll need the help of some sort of 3rd party software. Here is one option.
