Get rid of Devices list?

I upgraded from the 4GB Nano to the 80GB Classic. I now have a 'Devices' entry in iTunes that won't let me add or edit any of the playlists or files. I have a collapseable arrow beside devices where the Playlists were before the upgrade. Expanding the arrow shows my new iPod (with a different name than the old one), and under the iPod are ghosted copies of the original playlists etc. which won't let me edit/add. Is there any way to get rid of the Devices so I can get my playlists back?

Normally devices are listed only when connected. When connected the playlists on the device will be 'greyed' out when device is set to auto sync.

• How to get rid of username lists in the Gmail window. I access Gmail with Firefox.

It is a small but annoying problem. I, and sometimes friends, use my Gmail account to check their email. In the username window of Gmail, which I access with Firefox 3.6.9, a list of all past users shows up when I click in the window. I cleared Google cookies, and All history, but the list remains! I can hide the list, but not clear it, if I check 'Form and search history'. But the list is alive and well when I uncheck this option! Is there a way to get rid of the list?

The drop-down list displays items from your History and/or Bookmarks.
You can control what shows (or nothing at all): Options > Privacy, "Location Bar" section. Options are:
*History and Bookmarks
*History
*Bookmarks
*Nothing

iOS 7 allows you to have your apps update automatically. Therefore, the list of what has been updated stays so that you can see what was updated, when and what the release notes say. It has been suggested that they list has a limit, much like Recents. Currently, there is no way for the user to delete the entries manually. Just try not to look at them.

Somehow, they are still appeared as active user in Sharepoint Online.
How do we get rid of those list?
Hope you can advice. Thanks.

SharePoint does not remove users from SharePoint permissions just because they were deleted/disabled in AD. This is to maintain referential integrity. In fact, when you delete a user from SharePoint, that user remains in the SharePoint content database,
just marked as deleted.
They do not have access to SharePoint given their account is deleted/disabled. But as far as automatically managing this, I'm not aware of a tool. On-prem there is Metalogix ControlPoint which does a great job of this, I haven't explored the O365 options.

• How do I get rid of the list of web sites that I visited. I was unable to follow instructions in the help section.

'''bold text'''When I click the little down arrow at the end of the address line, I get a long list of sites I visted. How do I get rid of them.
I went to help, but i could not make heads or tails of what I was supposed to do. The instructions were confusing.

Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.
• How can I get rid of songs listed as shadow/grey letters in my music that I have removed?

Songs that should have been removed is still there. This is music that's not in iCloud. It happend when I change Itunes to another PC. Some songs are even listed two times.

I was only able to get rid of this, on my iPhone 6+ running 8.0.2, after restoring my phone via iTunes. This was after spending 90 minutes with Apple support.

• Can't get rid of Reading List side pane

I turned my computer on and brought up Safari.
I didn't realize that the wifi wasn't turned on.
It said that I could click on Reading Lists to read pages without being connected.
I clicked on it just for fun and the Reading List Side Panel came up on the left.
There was one website there and I hit Clear All.
Now I can't get rid of the side panel even though I'm now connected to the internet.
I can't seem to find a close button anywhere.
It is taking up a huge part of my already small notebook screen.
Please help!
Thanks,
Evelyn

Safari > View
Click View menu.
From the drop down select "Hide Reading List".

• Deleting UserNotificationCenter to get rid of "Device Removal" messages?

Someone online said to do this to get rid of those annoying messages when I rip out USB drives (seriously, it never corrupts them). Does anyone know if deleting /System/Library/CoreServices/UserNotificationCenter.app will mess anything else up?
And please no comments about how those messages are useful and how I need to eject stuff. I have never corrupted a flash drive this way. The only way I have corrupted one was with Windows Vista.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

• Get rid of event list in iCal view

I just upgraded to Lion. When I first opened iCal, it showed a single column with events shown by hour. Somehow, in fiddling with the settings, I ended up with two columns -- one on the left showing past and future events as a scrollable list, and one on the right showing events by the hour for a specific day, week, etc.
How do I get back to the single column showing events by the hour? I don't want the scrollable list.

Don H., I feel your pain.
I just picked up my new MBP from the Apple Store tonight. They imported all of my data, and when I picked up the computer, they took me through each app to make sure all my data had imported correctly. When they showed me iCal, it looked perfect--all of my stuff was there, hour by hour, in Day view. It basically looked just like it did in Snow Leopard. My friend's birthday is today, so I was delighted to see that Event at the top of the hour-by-hour list--that's how I knew my data was there.
When I opened iCal at home, it looks completely different. I now have this horrible formatting with a giant monthly calendar and a list of events on the left. The hour-by-hour list (which is what I use iCal for) is so narrow that I can't read any of the entries in their entirety. I dragged the border as far as I could to maximize the width of the hour-by-hour list and it's still only a little over an inch wide. Meanwhile, the list of events that I DON'T need is 4 to 5 inches wide.
I've looked through all of the help menus and the only options for "viewing the calendar differently" are Day, Week, Month or Year.
What I don't understand is, why did it look normal while I was at the store, but completely different when I got home? If it had looked like this at the store, I could've asked for help while I was there. I'm disappointed in the new format but can't figure out how to get back to what it looked like at the store. Wish I could help. I'll keep watching this discussion to see if you get help. Good luck.

• How do I get rid of the list of disabled/obsolete/duplicate plugins I no longer want?

O/S = XP (uptodate)
I have various disabled plugins that are either invalid/duplicates/not wanted that I would like to remove from the display list of plugins. Is there a way to do this?
For example: I have a disabled plugin for Microsoft Office 2003. I no longer use Office but the plugin still appears in my list of plugins.
Thanks in advance for your help

After reviewing the above link and getting an understanding of where the addon dll are kept, it became a simple editing job. Thanks for your invaluable help!

• How do I get rid of the list of searches when I start to enter anything?

On the primary search bar in the middle of the screen.. When I enter any letter of the alphabet a drop down box gives me a list to choose from. How do I stop that? If there is not a way I will be forced to go to explorer only. Thanks

The drop-down from the URL/Location/Address bar is suggesting items from your History and/or Bookmarks. To control what is displayed set the option at:
*''Firefox button > Options > Options'' (or ''Tools > Options''. using the Menu Bar) ''> Privacy > Location bar section'' (choosing "Nothing" will keep the drop-down from displaying)
