Get rid of emoticons - how?
I downloded emoticons and installed them. Now they are not compatible with os7. I don't use them and want to delete them so the annoying message telling me I need to update the emoticons will disappear. Please advise.
open your applications folder and drop and drag the app in the trash and then empty the trash.

When I try to send a REPLY I get a msg to get rid of STATTLS - how?
I was trying to send a reply to my son and the box keeps coming up telling me to get rid of STATTLS. How do I do that or otherwise get my reply to go?
It seems that the settings for sending are incorrect. Thunderbird is asking the server to set up a secure connection and the server is saying that it doesn't support a secured connection.
When did this start happening? Was there any change coincident with the appearance of this problem?
Tools - Account Settings - (select Outgoing Server (SMTP) ) - (select the appropriate account) - Edit - change the connection security to 'none'. -
I click firefox and get BING--want to get rid of Bing--How
How can I get rid of BING? Don't want it-won't use it. If this problem doesn't go away I will return to E.
Hi sprice,
Are you saying that when you load Firefox, you get Bing as your homepage? If so, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If your default search has been changed as well, just look at the [[Search bar]] article. It will show you how to change the default search to any provider you like.
Hopefully this helps! -
Firefox on Mac, now Bing search has replaced Google and I can't get rid of Bing- how?
Bing has mysteriously replaced Google and pops up in new tabs, etc. I have tried to change this, but Bing pesists. I don't want it, I didn't ask for it (intentionally, anyway) - how do I get rid of it?
Hi first of all, I mean that I have a bad English.
I've had the same problem as you and it seems I've solved.
What I have done is, first uninstall an add-on called conduit firefox engine.
Second, in the address bar you have to put about: config. And find all strings that say "search.conduit"and put the option to reset.
I solved it for me the problem, I hope you serve.

I Downloaded the Little Snitch Trial, and I Want To Get Rid Of It. How?
so I have the Little Snitch trial. (an app that shows your network usage and stuff) There is no way I can quite it or stop it or delete it or anything
ZERO search results come up when i search little snitch in finder
it is not in the preferences of my mac.
I just want to get rid of it! it sits in my menu bar, and when i click it it displays the following..
Little Snitch Network Filter Off
Start New Filter
thats it...The application has the uninstaller built into it, so if that item has
been dragged into Trash without running the uninstaller to get
the other parts removed correctly, you would have to download
the app again to get that uninstaller...
• Little Snitch 1 - Documentation
You may want to store the Little Snitch installer application in your
"Applications" folder or any other location. You need it if you want to uninstall ...

{This item gets installed as a system preference modifier so the
uninstaller is required to remove the parts you can't see. Since
Little Snitch has/had earlier versions, some of the documentation
may vary online from that which accompanied a later version.
A simple search of their product site or the application's Help in
the Finder menu should provide some insights on this.}
There also is another app called AppZapper which can help remove
the parts of an application from other places than the Application folder.

I had two tool bars with google search in the header part . Cannot delete them even if I delete firefox and relaod. Am not sure where any other details I have could be stored that I haven't found. I now assume it is on the firefox web site. I just want to download a clean (new) copy of firefox and none of the stuff I had as add ons in the one I have just deleted (twice because it will not disappear so there are files somewhere I can't find. Please tell me how to get a clean version with no old stuff from previous load.
You can uninstall the relevant extensions from Tools>Addons to remove those toolbars. Also there may be some unwanted plugins which you may want to disable. This should solve your problems.
If you still want a clean profile, uninstall firefox with the "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" checkbox enabled. Alternatively you may remove your firefox profile folder which (on Window7) is stored in C:\Users\<your-username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles folder with a randomly name. You may delete this folder before installing a new version to get a clean profile. -

Oscar - OutfoxTV Support,
While we appreciate you weighing-in in this support forum, what right does the Outfox.TV application have in changing something like the users NewTab page to begin with?<br />
An action like that is either abusive or malicious. -
I added a program that somehow put the search engine "searchqu" on my computer. How do you get rid of it? I looked up in the web engines and it is not listed. A blog board I read says it is coming through google chrome that it has to be uninstalled... any ideas?
Searchqu gets installed if you don't opt-out of the installation when you install a 'free' app from bandoo.com which provides free emoticons.
If you have this app on your system now, uninstall it first, otherwise searchqu will reappear again after you complete the following steps.<br><br>
To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=<br><br>
#In the filter at the top again, copy/paste the following (remove keyword.URL first): '''browser.startup.homepage'''<br><br>
#Right click it, choose '''Modify '''and then click '''Reset'''.<br><br>
#Close the tab.<br><br>
#Click the Firefox button, go to Add-ons, then Extensions and remove these add-ons if they're in there: '''Windows iLivid Toolbar '''and '''SearchquToolbar '''.<br><br>
#Next, open Windows Explorer and navigate to '''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins'''. In there, delete the following: '''SearchquWebSearch.xml'''<br><br>
#Go to Add/Remove Programs and look for '''Windows iLivid Toolbar '''and '''SearchquToolbar '''again. Remove if found. You might possibly find a reference to "Web Search" (searchqu) in Add/Remove Programs too. If so, remove it.<br>
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
Next, open a Command Prompt (Run As Administrator) and type the following: '''regsvr32 /u searchqudtx.dll''' and hit Enter. If you get an error message, you'll have to enter the full path. Do a Windows search for '''WI3C8A '''and then right click it and choose Open Containing Folder, or Open File Location. Then make a note of the full path.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>
* Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.<br><br>
* Click the Firefox button, go to '''Options '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''.<br><br>
* Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.<br><br>
* Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br> -
