Get rid of predictive urls while hovering mouse over link in firefox 6

I hate movement on my desktop as it is distracting. If something moves, it should need my attention. While hovering my cursor over URLs, I now see the URL in the lower left, and I can't stop that from showing.
I don't need to proofread URLs, so there is NO reason to have that on my computer, it's highly distracting.
How do I stop it? I've played with about:config for a while, but it seems there is no clear option to toggle off.
I realize the status bar is gone, great, but again, there is no reason for me to proofread my URLs that I'm hovering over, so please, tell how to stop this distraction, thank you.

How do I get rid of the ad while playing a game on my iPhone?

duh .... I got to thinking about it while I was feeding my 'girls', (dog and 2 cats) and thought "I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that it's free!"  I guess they have to make their money somehow. Thanks for you quick reply -- I'll try to think things thru a little better before marshalling the troops!

How do get rid of the google search box when I first open Firefox?

Firefox 4 and later versions use a new build-in home page named <b>about:home</b> with a Google search bar on it.
That about:home page only shows some snippets and has a button to restore the previous session if applicable.
If you want a home page with extras then set another page as the home page like www.google.com as used in Firefox 3 versions.

  • I'm using movie program how do get rid of background noise and put music over top of video

I'm using movie program how do get rid of background noise and put music over top of video

    Niel,
Thanks for your suggestion about using RCDefaultApp. I am hesitating to do this because it seems like I'd be installing still another piece of software to fix the original mistake---downloading Reader.
About 20 years ago I maintained---with considerable handholding---UNIX systems of various sorts. Can you suggest how I might find the plist that seems to require changing?
BTW, Preview is called whenever I open some random .pdf file. The problem appears when I want to get a file from the web. If the site permits a "download" I can get the file, but if I want to "view and print" the file, the evil dark-grey Adobe screen appears with the whirling black ball. Then Safari quits. I'm wondering if the reference to Reader is in a "cookie" sent from the website, when I first was installing Reader. Is this possible?

  • How can I get rid of unused balance while I'm in different country?

While in the US I purchased an itunes card and changed my information to a US address to be able to use my card. I am now in Canada wanting to use another itunes card but I cannot change my information without using my remainder balance of 17 cents. Is there a way I can get around this by getting rid of the money completely or do I need to use a credit card and purchase a song in order for the balance to be gone?

  • How to get rid of extra spaces while TRANSFERing itab to PersentationServer

    Gurus,
we have a program which downloads the internal table to server using the TRANSFER statement.
    open dataset ---  BINARY MODE
    loop at ITAB.
    transfer ITAB-line to g_file.
    endloop.
    close dataset.
    This works fine.
The new requirement is we need to get rid of the spaces that are padded at the end.
ITAB data is RANDOM. The actual length of ITAB is 128 chars per line. Every 120 chars will have a eof char ( delimeter)
so the last line of ITAB may have 1 or 2 delimeters in it. if it is just 1 we can solve it using SEARCH and TRANSFER---length
if it gets 2 delimeters ?
    Thought????
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Pete.

    Andreas,
    Thank you for the reply.
I did use that. What I meant to say is when you have more than one EOL char in last line how do you find the last EOL and transfer upto that length.
I used DO---ENDDO and checked for each existance of the EOL char. I am not pleased with what I am doing.
Is there any better way to this ?
    Version - 4.6c.
    Regards
    Pete.

  • How do I get rid of 'sweet page' after having used malware softw., reestablishing firefox as hyperlink, rebooting ?

It is not the described ''sweet pack' but 'sweet page' - presents itself as search engine - supposedly from the Netherlands. I have run malwarebytes anti-malware - no malware found - I reestablished mozilla as hyperlink - rebooted twice - didn't help, it keeps popping up whenever I try t open a new tab.
must have happened when I updated Java from the Java homepage.
How can I get rid of that? Thank you very much for your efforts, with kind regards
    Irene Fritz

There's also a separate, hidden setting for new tabs:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
    * ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
    * ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
    * ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
    * ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page
Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
    Two gotchas:
    * If Firefox ignores the setting, one of your extensions may be overriding it. You can review, disable, and/or remove extensions on the add-ons page:<br><br>orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > ''in the left column click'' Extensions
    * If the change works for the rest of your session but at the next startup is back to the unwanted page, you might have a user.js file in your personal Firefox settings folder (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and remove the file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    Any luck?

  • How can I get rid of McAfee SiteAdvisor that has installed itself on my Firefox browser screen?

An uninvited McAfee message flashed up on my screen when I was on the net and I mistakenly clicked a button that installed the McAfee SiteAdvisor on my browser screen. I have tried to uninstall the McAfee program and to delete the files that McAfee has stored on my computer, but when I try to delete those files a box comes up saying that they cannot be deleted because they are either write protected or in use by another program.
I do not want to have to read a McAfee SiteAdvisor bright green notice on the bottom corner of my computer screen every time I use Firefox. Does anyone know how to get rid of the files McAfee has stored on my computer? Thank you.

I used to have McAfee site advisor on one machine last year. I do not remember major problems un-installing it presumably it uninstalled easily from the Windows XP control panel -> remove programs.
I also seem to recall it created a long list of files possibly totalling in the GB range of memory use, if I remember correctly I had no problems in removing them.
If you have McAfee security products on your computer you may need to be careful about what is uninstalled.

  • A bookmarks list has appeared on the left side of my screen and I can't get rid of it. Tried restore and even uninstalled & reinstalled Firefox 4.

I don't know what I can add. The bookmarks list is on the left side of the screen and crowds everything else to the right so that I can't read it. I've tried everything I can think of to move it or get rid of it.

  • How to see document file name with full path when hovering mouse over title bar?

    Using PS CS6, Windows 7 x64.
I was under the impression that when hovering my mouse over the document title bar, I would see a tooltip showing the full file name, including the path.  This isn't happening and I'm wondering if there is a way to do this.  I know I can click File > Save As, or Ctrl+Shift-S to see the full path, but hoving over the title bar would be easier.  (What I am seeing now in the tooltip is the file name, % magnification and which layer I have selected.  Basically, the tooltip is just showing what's in the title bar without hovering.)
    Thank you!
    John

Hm, I wonder if it's something they may have enabled only for the Cloud version (I have 13.1.2).  If so, I didn't notice the change at the time of the upgrade.
Nope, it's not that - I have a virtual machine for testing with 13.0.1 installed...  This is what I see there:

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • I can't get rid of a RebateInformer Icon. It arrived with a Firefox update and I don't want it! What do I do?

I am NOT an experienced computer user but I do know how to
get rid of a program. Even the "RebateInformer" told me to go to Control Panel & get rid of it there but it's not listed there. I did a search and found it. It's in C program files and when I go there it's along with firefox in C program files and settings with an update. When I try to delete it of course it says part of it is
being used! Nice little piece of garbage I've got somehow!
I know nothing else to do. I am truly a novice. I just tried this so I don't know how often it happens.

    Reboot the device.
Shut down the device by holding the sleep/wake button  and the home button at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.

  • Hovering mouse over messages

Just got switched from BT Yahoo mail to BT mail. Found that hovering the mouse over in-box messages does not reveal email addresses, so I can't identify potentially unwanted/dangerous messages like I used to do. Any suggestions please?

What info, apart from the one I provided, should I post? I don't even receive any message at all when X crashes and nothing responds and I have to manually shutdown.
