Get Rid of Relative Dates in Applications?

How do I get rid of relative dates in applications such as Mail?
I cannot find anything in the Mail Preferences to change this.
Nor can I find anywhere in System Preferences -> Date & Time and International to change this behaviour.
Settings in View->Show View Options, as previously recommended, do not affect the date format in applications.
Thanks
Al Maloney

Why get rid of them?
(1) They require extra steps in my brain to calculate the date of the document.
(2) When I do not know to-day's date, how can I calculate yesterday's date?
(3) Aesthetically, they are inconsistent with the list of dates.
(4) I just do not like them.
Sláinte!

  • Any way to get rid of Relative Date display in Mail?

    This is a long standing problem for me and macs for as long as I can remember. I can't stand relative dates, and no matter what I do they always reappear. I just switched to MacMail and much to my disappointment, I find relative dates there too. Is there ANY permanent way to get rid of Relative Dates once and for all?

    Carsten, you CAN get rid of the "negative number" entries. If you use the wizard to build the dimension, when it's all done, go back into the dimension object and delete the default "standard" hierarchy that gets created. Even though you apparently DO have to have a default level, you do NOT need to have a default hierarchy.
    This will get rid of the negative numbers and associated logic from the loads...but you still end up with both a DIMENSION_KEY and KEY column...both having exactly the same value in it.
    I wish Oracle would give you an option when creating a dimension to specify whether or not it's a dimension with levels...and if you said NO it would simply have a DIMENSION_KEY without any other keys. Glad to hear though that I wasn't missing something obvious on how to turn that off.
    Thx,

  • How can I get rid of the dates and time on my Notes

    How do I get rid of the dates and times on my Notes that appeared when I updated to 8?

    Yes, it's seems like a poor design decision.
    By putting the date on the line below the Note title in the Notes Index, the app shows half the number of notes per page AND if you have a large number of notes, it takes twice as long to stroll down.
    I doubt the designer actually uses the app.

  • Get rid of "Cellular Data Account" iPad message

    How can I get rid of "Cellular Data Account" Now / Later message. It is incredibly annoying to have that pop up a number of times each day.
    I won't need the AT&T service until I travel and that's not for a few months.

    Go to Settings > Cellular Data and turn it off.

  • Getting rid of the date stamp in "Export Waveform to Spreadsheet.vi"

    Probably a very simple and stupid question, but how do I get rid of the date stamp while keeping the time stamp in the "Export Waveform to Spreadsheet File.vi"? I may have found the place on the block diagram, but I'm not entirely clear how that vi works.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Never mind, I've figured it out.
    For the curious, it was a matter of altering the "Waveform to Date Time String.vi" in the "Export Waveform to Spreadsheet.vi". All you need to do is stop it from concatenating the time string with the date string in that particular VI. I hope this helps some of my fellow newbies.
    Sorry to waste the rest of your time.
    Thanks,
    Joe

  • I moved some e-mailed pictures to my iphoto library and they have the date rightin the middle of the image..how do I get rid of the date?

    Imoved some e-mailed photos to iphoto, but they come up showing the date in the middle of the image..how do I get rid of the date?

    Thhere is no way that iPhoto did that - either source put the data on the photo, you used a photo editor to put it there or the receiving e-mail client is displaying it there - iPhoto has no capability to add any text including dates to a photo
    iPhoto will display the date on an event while viewing photos if you have that option set in the preferences

  • When I go in I cloud data storage, it says I have 3.3gb from an old phone which was replaced by a new phone. The new phone has 1.2gb of data. Can I now get rid of the data on the old phone from the i cloud.

    When I go in I cloud data storage, it says I have 3.3gb from an old phone which was replaced by a new phone. The new phone has 1.2gb of data. So I now have a total of 4.5GB OF DATA stored. The Old phone is now with Apple and I deleted all the information.  Can I now get rid of the data on I cloud for the old phone. What data does the 3.3GB consist of? Is there anyway, I can find out?
    Thanks

    When you delete an iCloud backup it is permanently deleted and not available in the future to restore from.  The backup of your second phone only contains the data and settings from that phone.  If any of this data was inherited from your first phone, it would be contained in the backup of your second phone as it was on your second phone when it was backed up.
    If you want to keep backups of your old phone, back them up in iTunes and they will remain on your computer.  Even if you are backing up to iCloud, you can manually back up your phone in iTunes by right-clicking on the name of your phone on the left side of iTunes and selecting Back Up.  iTunes will see each device as a separate device, and will maintain the backups separately.  Do this with your first phone and you can then delete the iCloud backup and you will have the iTunes backup on your computer should you ever want to access it.

  • How to get rid of 'other' data

    I have masses and masses of 'other' data on my iphone. I have stripped it of all music (500 songs) and it has made no difference. I understand the data is most likely old apps etc not deleted properly, like a ghost trail. I have deleted all unnecessary texts, voicemails, calls, photos, internet history, etc. I have nothing left to delete data-wise. Does anyone know how to get rid of this 'other' data? It was literally taking 6.8gb of my 8gb phone, i have halved that by checking and unchecking 'automatically sync' in itunes, but still can't shift the rest. Really slowing my phone down

    Most of the "other data" on my phone is the forced IOS 7 upgrade from Apple.
    They push the upgrade(around 850 mb) and also reserve another huge chunk of space on the phone  to do a backup and install on the phone (mine is about 2.5 gigs after some manipulation).
    If you do not want the upgrade, it just sits there on the phone.
    You can not remove it.
    Apple will not sign and allow you to restore IOS 6 to your IOS 6 phone.
    If you ever need to do a restore of the OS, you will be forced into IOS 7.
    When a new upgrade is pushed to your phone, the amount of confiscated storage will accumulate with each subsequent release.
    Apple can't be bothered to delete the older/outdated upgrade file being replaced by the new, hence the "other data" just grows over time. I have seen mine get to almost  6 gigs.
    You can use Itunes on your computer to "download only/ not install" the newest update, then do a restore of your data and a sync. This appears to remove all the outdated updates from the phone.
    You will however, still have about 2 gigs of your storage space still hijacked by Apple to store the most recent forced upgrade.
    I am still on IOS 6 and plan on sticking with it simply for personal preference and vision reasons, as that is my prerogative.
    It does perplex me why Apple refuses to make IOS 7 optional for users that have always had IOS 6. I can fully understand insisting that new devices run IOS 7, and obviously many IOS 6 users would have jumped anyway.
    Apple needs to add an asterisk to word *adoption rate of IOS 7 in their corporate guidance statements.
    They knowingly mislead given the current reality that ultimately no one can opt not to adopt it.

  • How to get rid of 'other' data in capacity?

    In april, i got my iphone 4 replaced because of a broken lock button. When i brought the replacement home, i noticed that when i plugged it in there was a lot of "other" data in the capacity bar, and there was nothing on my phone at the time. Now, the other data is still there and it takes up more than half of my storage, and i have no more storage left for pictures or music or apps. I think the other data is a result of a corrupted backup, because my backups do not work (once i figured that out i stopped using them). But now i need to find a way to get the other data off of my phone while keeping all of my photos and contacts without a backup, which means restoring it isnt an option until i find some way to back up my photos and contacts individually. I need to do this because if i backup everything on my phone on itunes, the "Other" will too be backed up, and then i'd be in the same place. can someone please help me? If i call apple tech support will they be able to help? Please let me know if you have had this problem/ has it been resolved/ how it was resolved. Thank you.

    You can use iCloud to backup your contacts, and you can import your photos to your computer. After restoring as *NEW*, then you can re-sync your photos; and sign back into iCloud and "Merge", to retrieve all contacts.

  • How to get rid of extra data in character buffers for key and data

    Hi -
    Using the C API, I am using a cursor to just pull all the key/value pairs from a database.
    Here is the relevant code:
    /* Initialize key/data structures. */
    memset(&key, 0, sizeof(key));
    memset(&data, 0, sizeof(data));
    key.flags = DB_DBT_MALLOC;
    data.flags = DB_DBT_MALLOC;
    if((ret = dbp->cursor(dbp, NULL, &cursor, 0)) != 0) {
    dbp->err(dbp, ret, "%s", DATABASE);
    goto err;
    while((ret = cursor->c_get(cursor, &key, &data, DB_NEXT)) == 0) {
    fprintf(cgiOut, "%s|||%s\n", (char *)key.data, (char *)data.data);
    free(key.data);
    free(data.data);
    if(ret != DB_NOTFOUND) {
    dbp->err(dbp, ret, "cursor->c_get");
    goto err;
    This produces lines that in many cases contain extra characters at the ends, as though the malloced data was not being cleared before use. I wrote this routine originally in Java, and solved the problem there with the "setReuseBuffer(false)" Database Entry routine. Is there something similar in C?
    Garey Mills

    Sandra -
    I am using 4.5. I have solved the problem, however, by using the following code
    while((ret = cursor->c_get(cursor, &key, &data, DB_NEXT)) == 0) {
    char keyd, datad;
    keyd = (char *)key.data;
    datad = (char*)data.data;
    keyd[key.size] = '\0';
    datad[data.size] = '\0';
    So I am just using the size data returned to null terminate the strings in the buffers. Now everything works. Thanks for your response;

  • How to get rid of historical data in MRP

    Hi,
    We have recently done Re Go-Live for a client. It involved changing the existing company code and re-assignment of new company code to existing plants. While doing so, transactional data that was created before Re Go-live still shows in the system.
    Take example of MRP, when we run MRP reports, it shows all requirements that are still open because of committments generated earlier.
    This is the case with every module infact, but we have restricted many reports by using variants, this way, only transactional data (PR, PO, SO etc etc) after certain date is displayed for the users.
    We are facing the problem mainly with MRP since there is no "DATE" field to restrict the system from showing both previous & new requirements. Is there any customizing activity that can be performed to apply such restriction?

    Transactional data for business cases that were never closed cannot be archived.
    When reading the term Re-Go-Live then I assume that there are numerous open transactional data which cannot be closed because of the changes done already.  you should have started in a new clean client.
    You will certainly have headaches for many years with this mess.

  • How can I get rid of the date modified under the Home Movies category?

    To my surprise when I did a sync to my iPad from iTunes I noticed that there were no titles under my videos in the Movie category. So I changed all my personal videos to Home Movies and did a new sync. The titles appeared okay but I now have this last date modified showing under the title. Is there some way I can turn this annoying feature off?
    Thanks

        JenJenTen,
    I understand that having a preset text that you did not want can be a bit frustrating when sending out text. To clarify, is the preset message like a signature at the end of your text? Does this only happen in text messages or when your send emails also? Is your SMS delivery confirmation on? Messaging>Settings>SMS delivery confirmation.

  • How do I get rid of the Java Script Application that keeps popping up and saying 'invalid XMC value'?

    Every time I click to add something to a message, this pops up. It is very irritating and I have no idea where or how it came from as it just started today.

    This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
