when I make a java application and run it I'll always have the DOS command window run in the backgound ..... how to get red of it?

In windows execute it with javaw instead of java.

That does not work, actually. I've ben using QT PRo for ages, and ever since version 0, it NEVER saved or remembered my preferences. Once I set my preferences up, it does remember it for the current windows session. But once I restart my machine everything is back to square one. It's been like that for years, actually. This is very annoying sometimes. Makes you wonder if apple "engineers" know how to write code?

How to get rid of the little page window at the top right of an acrobat page

In the last 6 months or so, a little window image of the Acrobat page has started to appear in the top right corner of the page
This is a total menace as it can cover part of the text as per pic, and also covers the find tab. OK, you can x it off but I want to find a way to totally kill it. I cannot see any circumstance where the mini-window will be useful. Maybe it does have some useful functions, but I cannot think what they could be. I cannot imagine why Adobe would force this on us. Or maybe I have accidentally clicked something. HELP PLEASE

Thanks Sara - I have thought this might have something to do with it. But actually neither is selected (see below). Whatever is selected, it is difficult to see that the thumbnail can achieve any useful purpose! Any other ideas? It seems quite unpredictable in my system - the file I took a screenshot of to post above now has no thumbnail. While a file I opened this morning does. In my view it represents a bug in X as it only appeared after I had been using X for about 3 years, making me suspect it came in with an update. And there is no way to turn it off that I can find.

I hate this resend "feature". I have been using firefox for several years but this "resend" security feature only pops up recently. I have IE, Safari, Opera all installed in the same PC together with firefox and only firefox has this stupid feature. It is not only an annoyance, recently I have a banking transaction charged 3 times instead of one because of this "resend" feature. From now on I would not use firefox for any internet transaction until someone fix this!

I am using SQL*PLUS within the DOS command window.
The results of my query is wrapping down the page, instead of using the entire width of the window.
I have set the windows mode command, before going into SQL*PLUS:
MODE CON: COLS=100 LINES=40
So, I was hoping to have Oracle use all 100 columns, when displaying the answer set.

Size of lines, columns and pages are controlled by SQL*Plus system variables
For width of lines
SET LINES[IZE] which defaults to 80
For number of lines per "page"
SET PAGES[IZE] which defaults to 14
To control formatting, including width of indicidual columns you have COL[UMN], e.g:
COLUMN your_column FORMAT a20

If you want certain settings each time you open SQL*Plus, you can add those to your glogin.sql

javaw yourClass
instead of...
java yourClass

That's related since the process is attempting to load your Safari bookmarks from iCloud, and is crashing for some reason.
Try this:
Select the entire line that follows (triple-click to select it), then control-click, and from the contextual menu that appears, select Services > Reveal in Finder:

Drag that entire folder to the Desktop.
Quit Safari.
Attempt to open iCloud Preferences again. If it opens de-select Safari.

At the top of the screen is only a Yahoo icon on the left and to the right of it a search box, "Web Search,", "My Apps," Yellow Pages," "Weather," "Updates," and "Skype." to the right of those there is a green cross saying "Add more apps. to your toolbar" and to the right of that a sort of gear shift looking icon saying "toobar settings."
So, in short, how do I get rid of the Bing screen and how do I access those Tools?

If you used Boot Camp to install Windows you may use Boot Camp to remove it and return your drive to as it was.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the MDI window at run time?
I could achieve this by setting the data window to be a dialog
window, and set the set_window_property(forms_mdi_window,
window_state, minimize). Is there a better way to do than
that?

I went on a website, then another window opened and said i had a virus. how do i get rid of the virus.

I was just browsing on the internet. opened a website called watch32.com and another window opened saying i have a virus. i have done a scan using clamXav and it says that there is no infected files but when i go to the console it says the know virus number. how do i get rid of the virus?
