  • How do I get rid of event details in iCal in iOS?

I'm trying to learn how to get rid of event details in iCal on my iPhone. With the event itself "edit" comes up when I touch the item. For event details, however, the "edit" option does not appear.

Not quite sure what you mean by "details", but after touching Edit for the event, touch the lines with the name and location and a cursor shows with the keyboard to edit those.
Note that you won't be able to edit Exchange synced calendars.
Also note that "iCal" is the OS X app.  The iOS app on your iPhone is "Calendar."

Unfortunately CleanMyMac is as harmful, if not moreso, than MacCleanse. These third party cleaning apps are considered 'crapware' and can harm your system beyond repair. If you cannot uninstall them completely, as appears, it may pay to backup your data, reinstall avericks and migrate your important data back. You can try posting an etrecheck report and perhaps someone can help narrow down what you need to trash from all the areas that these programs have infected.

  • How do I get rid of duplicate entries in iCal on my mac after commencing iCloud?

I just got a new iPhone 4s, and have set up iCloud.  I managed to sync everthing i think (ie. contacts + calenders) but now on my mac iCal I have three duplicate calender entries for one event, but only one entry on my iPhone.  If I delete just one of the entries from the iCal on my mac (leaving 2 still there), the one calender entry on my iphone disappears.  Please help.  It is driving me mad!!

You don't want to get rid of, it's a security feature. If someone steals your Mac, all that account permits is Safari access, no other access to the computer. This enables you to locate your Mac.

  • Can't get rid of update notice box

Today, there is a box in the upper right-hand corner of my screen telling me that updates are ready to install.  I do not want to update anything, but there is no option to delete this box, close it, ignore it, etc.  The only options are:  "Restart" (which will automatically install the updates) or "Later", which offers a number of options, but not "Never".
How do I get rid of this box, and how do I stop these updates (which apparently have downloaded themselves onto my computer without asking me) from proceeding?
    Thanks

It was one of the last two Security Updates.
To stop the pop-up, Go to System Preferences: Security. Check the box next to "Require password to unlock each secure system preference." Then lock Security.
    Thanks to K.S.
I came across this thread which has what seems like a reasonable explanation:

  • How do I get rid of duplicate entries in iCal/iCloud?

Since switching to iCloud/Lion, every entry I make in iCal gets instantly duplicated.  This happens on only one of two computers syced with iCloud. Help!

    Yeah, everybody says that.

I notice the mail setting in iTunes is set to sync, but all the others are set at syncing with iCloud.  What about mail?  Should it be syncing with iCloud, iTunes, or both (I assume not both, but......).  I still don't have mail working with iCloud anyway so I'm not sure what should be happening there.
I would be consistent with respect to the information in the "Info" pane in iTunes.  That is, if you want to sync Calendars, Contacts, and email, use either iCloud for all 3 (e.g., enable all 3 in iCloud and deselect all 3 from iTunes) or iTunes for all 3 (select all 3 in iTunes and disable all 3 in iCloud).... don't break them up across services.

  • Get rid of event list in iCal view

I just upgraded to Lion.  When I first opened iCal, it showed a single column with events shown by hour.  Somehow, in fiddling with the settings, I ended up with two columns -- one on the left showing past and future events as a scrollable list, and one on the right showing events by the hour for a specific day, week, etc.
How do I get back to the single column showing events by the hour?  I don't want the scrollable list.

Don H., I feel your pain.
I just picked up my new MBP from the Apple Store tonight. They imported all of my data, and when I picked up the computer, they took me through each app to make sure all my data had imported correctly. When they showed me iCal, it looked perfect--all of my stuff was there, hour by hour, in Day view. It basically looked just like it did in Snow Leopard. My friend's birthday is today, so I was delighted to see that Event at the top of the hour-by-hour list--that's how I knew my data was there.
When I opened iCal at home, it looks completely different. I now have this horrible formatting with a giant monthly calendar and a list of events on the left. The hour-by-hour list (which is what I use iCal for) is so narrow that I can't read any of the entries in their entirety. I dragged the border as far as I could to maximize the width of the hour-by-hour list and it's still only a little over an inch wide.  Meanwhile, the list of events that I DON'T need is 4 to 5 inches wide.
I've looked through all of the help menus and the only options for "viewing the calendar differently" are Day, Week, Month or Year.
What I don't understand is, why did it look normal while I was at the store, but completely different when I got home?  If it had looked like this at the store, I could've asked for help while I was there. I'm disappointed in the new format but can't figure out how to get back to what it looked like at the store. Wish I could help. I'll keep watching this discussion to see if you get help. Good luck.

  • How do I get rid of the notice that I need to update, when Firefox then tells me I have the latest version when I click the link to get the update?

This notice has been on the page under the Google box for the last few days. There is a link to click on to update. The next page says that I'm up to date but suggests downloading Android or offers a download of Firefox if I'd like one.

Thanks for the help. It's undoubtedly my error in not saying I'm a Mac user up front. I got there & chose return to default. Turns out that's where I have been all along. It's the Mozilla Firefox Start Page. But it includes this silly notice that I don't have the latest version of Firefox! Seems to me there's a bug (or whatever, I'm not real techy) in the basic design of the Firefox home page. Maybe it hasn't been updated for users of Lion?

  • How to get rid of MacCleanse notice?

Awhile ago I purchased MacCleanse as part of a cheap software bundle. Having installed the software I didn't like the company's attitudes towards its customers, especially its upgrade policy. I decided to delete the software from my computer by using CleanMyMac 2.
Now, in spite of the fact that the software is no longer on my computer, every time I update/delete other software a notice complete with the MacCleanse logo, appears saying:
'You have attempted to remove the application ----- by simply removing it to trash. Would you like to launch MacCleanse to uninstall the application correctly, along with all of its related components?'
This notice is unwanted and I have no obvious way of turning it off. Has anyone any idea how to do this?

  • ICal animations - how to get rid of them

Is there a way to get rid of the animations in iCal while moving from one month to the next? There are very slow and completely unnecessary.
I know that one can press the 'alt' key while using pressing the arrow buttons, but it would be nice to get rid of the animiatons.
Next step after would be to get rid of the ridiculous leather skin...

  • How to rid of multiple entries in ical

How the blazes do you you get rid of MULTIPLE entries in ical? I have read many answers and printed off a few to follow them but invariably i get to a point where I am unable to take the next step! I back track and and unable to find a fault of where I went wrong!! Then I have to ask myself WHY? Why on earth am I having to go to such extreme lengths to get rid of the unwanted entries?
Come on now Apple it is you who should be providing the simple logic answer to this?
I decided to give up? just ignore the other entries it easier than going frantic trying (and anyway I am frightened I may throw the macbook in my temper)

  • HT201081 Can't get rid of "Family" in calendar

I want to get rid of "Family" in my iCal.    I'm willing to get rid of family sharing if that will do it.    I looked of settings/icloud/family on my phone as shown on an Apple article, but that must be for an earlier version of IOS.
Actually, I'd like to keep family sharing, but that isn't important.   I have an iTunes account, and my wife has an iCloud account which we share.    My iTunes account doesn't do everything as Apple now requires it be an e-mail address for some features.
She gets confused when the Calendar shows both our "Brazee" calendar (with lots of events) and the new empty "Family" calendar, as well as our personal calendars.

The Family calendar is created automatically, if you set up Family sharing. You cannot delete it. You can only hide the family events by deselecting the checkmark to the left of the Family Calendar.
Stop Family Sharing, if you do not want this calendar to show.
If you joined Family Sharing, a shared calendar called “Family” automatically appears in the Calendar app. Everyone in your family can view and update the Family calendar, so it’s a good way to keep track of events such as family camping trips and violin recitals.
Show or hide family events:  Select or deselect the family calendar by clicking to the left of Family in the sidebar.
