Get rid of "What's New"

Please Sony give us a way to opt out of "What's New" . When I slide my finger up from home to launch Google Now  I have to be careful not to open "What's New". We have Google Play Store, we know what apps we want, we don't need this!  Don't force it on us!
PS: I know that you can get rid of that by rooting but that means (at this moment) unlocking the bootloader, which means losing the warranty. I'm not prepared to do that on a 600-650 euros device. Not to mention a lot of people who can't unlock the bootloader even if they want to.

As I understand, it's not possible to disable or remove "What's new" for the moment. And unfortunately, I have no information when or if this will be possible in the upcoming future.

  • How to get rid of bing at "new tab"

    I dont have a toolbar, it does not hijack my homepage. But everytime I open a new tab (which was always blank) I get a stupid bing search bar. That is the only place it shows up, but it is sooo annoying because I always go straight to typing whatever url I a going to, and this bar changes my cursors postion to it. How do I get rid of it?
    I have looked in plugins/extensions. It is not there. I have looked in program files, and in control panel -> programs. Nothing there either. I even went into about:config and reset everything that had a bing value. Still having the problem. What else is there to try?

    Check Tools: Add-ons: Extensions for an extension called "Default Tab." Disabling it may solve your problem.

  • How to get rid of pinning on new tab

    Ok so, I was just curious as how I can get rid of this new pinning website thing when I open a new tab. I don't want my most visited websites or any site for that matter being shown. Please if anyone can help me get it back the way it was, that would be great, and if not, just tell me how not to have my most visited auto pinned. Thank you so much for your time. Hope you have a great day!

    In Address bar type: "about:config"
    Search for and update each of these preference names to the below values:
    avg.userPreferences.newtabDisabledByUser = true
    browser.newtab.url = www.google.com
    browser.search.defaultenginename = www.google.com
    browser.startup.homepage = www.google.com

  • How do I get past the "What's New in iTunes 10.3" welcome window in the iTunes Store? (OS 10.4.11, iTunes 8)

    Hello. I have iTunes 8 on a MacBook with OS 10.4.11. Everytime I try to access the iTunes Store, I get a "What's New in iTunes 10.3" window that I can't seem to bypass. Any suggestions?
    Lee

    The update to iTunes 9.2.1 can be found here... I'm assuming you've already done this as this posting is well over a year old. so it's just for informational purposes.

  • How do I get rid of ios7's new dot matrix/monochrome monitor look?

    I can't believe what a giant step back apple took with this upgrade.  Was anyone complaining about the rich color,texture and depth of ios6. There's no need for retnia display because all the apps from apple now look like they were designed using a dot matrix printer.
    How do I get back to the AWESOME look and feel of what I purchased my i-phone, i-pad and mini i-pad for? I have never looked at other tablets or phones but if I can't get the look I want back, I'm outta here.

    I found somewhere that if you just go to www.itunes.com/soi-remove it will link you directly to the album, and ask for confirmation to delete it from your account. It worked!

  • IE9, Win7: How to get rid of "What do you want to do with ...doc? Open, Save, Save as

    My web application downloads a .doc file.  With IE9 and Windows 7 it displays the dialog "What do you want to do with xxxx.doc? Open, Save, Save as"  Prior to IE9 I could check the box that said "remember" but with IE9 I do not see a way to prevent
    the dialog from occurring every time.  How can I turn off this dialog like I can in all prior versions of IE?  I have looked through the forums and the answer might be here but most threads seem to be a little different problem.  Some of my
    customers are switching to FireFox and Chrome because of this problem so I would like to find a solution.  I found another thread that had a potential solution (1. Click Tools - Internet Options - Security Tab. 2. Click Local intranet, click Sites, uncheck
    "Automatically detect intranet network" if you checked it. Then check "Include all network paths (UNCs)".  Click Advanced, add the intranet to the zone. Then Close and OK.) but that did not solve my problem.

    Hi,
    Based my research, due to increasing in security, we cannot disable Download Manager of Internet Explorer 9 from changing settings, editing registry keys or editing settings in Group Policy. This can prevent websites downloading automatically. Instead, we can
    set default download location.
    For reference:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ieitprocurrentver/thread/21798a87-8c04-4995-a988-ed9275062f82
    And for more detailed information, please refer to
    Safer and Faster Downloads in IE9.
    Hope this helps.

    What kind of ghosting do you mean and where do you see it?

  • Get rid of Meet your New Browser Internet Explorer 11

    hey if this is the wrong place for the message I apolgogize.
    Can someone please tell me how to make IE 11 stop asking "Meet your new browser"  I have done the following and doesnt work:
    enabled the GPO for "Prevent performance of First Run Customize Settings" on both User and computer set start page to home.
    I have hard coded the regsitry to:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
    "DisableFirstRunCustomize"=dword:00000001
    No luck.
    Am I missing something?

    if this thread wont help, I think you just need to open IE for several time or set it as default browser to check

  • How do I get rid of U2's new album?

    I've hidden it from my iTunes purchases, but two songs are still on my iPhone. There's no option to just swipe and delete like all the other songs in my library, and the songs aren't showing up in my library on my computer. Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • How do I get rid of the Vuze toolbar ?

    There is an annoying Vuze toolbar that I can not get rid of. Any new search brings me to this tool bar

    The help page for REFRESH FireFox needs more info.
    1. By refreshing Firefox the new or default profile does not guarentee that the add-ons are all up to date or not vulnerable.
    2. It would be really nice if FireFox would give users advice on browsing safely.
    3. Do not click on pop-ups anywhere on the screen and to use Windows Task Manager instead.
    4. Only update from the program that you are updating not from pop-ups!!!
    My story:
    I do not like to have updates automatically installed. Reason, it depends on what I am doing on the internet and how
    much time I have if I will install an update and there are other reasons... Because I unplug the Ethernet cable from my
    laptop whenever I am not on the internet. And I do update programs. I have been learning to more about using FireFox safely.
    Reason why I used REFRESH
    I unthinkingly clicked on a pop-up at the right bottom of the screen over the tool bar.
    It is now common that microsoft places update info in pop-ups at that same location. So I got used to it and I clicked on
    a Fire Fox update. Well it was from Yahoo publisher with file named sxh.yimg.com. A very persistant Yahoo! toolbar
    appeared in the main menu. And the address bar was redirected to - www.datatoolbar.com - an online data miner with yahoo
    in the address. I have gone through a lot of uninstalls, deleting Mozilla File Folders in User/Roaming and Local to get
    rid of this but it persisted. REFRESH did work, but one or two add-ons were vulnerable and I went through a 3 hour crash
    yesterday.
