Get songs on my ipod to my library without deleting them all

Hi,
I went to my friends house and got his songs on my ipod, but when i got home to update the songs on my itunes library it deleted all my songs on my ipod.
I need to know how to get my songs from my friends house to my library and keep the songs on my ipod without erasing them.

There are some programs you can download specifically for that purpose. Don't know how you erased it, you mustv'e done something wrong. Search for those programs on the internet on a search engine like google.
NOTE: This is not supported by Apple and could screw your iPod.

  • Can't get songs from my iPod into the library on my new mac

I recently had to get a new hard-drive on my dell laptop, and iTunes was uninstalled from the computer. When I re-installed iTunes, my iPod was not being recognized by the laptop, so none of my songs on my iPod were in the library anymore.
Now I have a new MacBook, and my iPod is being recognized, but I can't get most of my songs from my iPod into the library in iTunes.
I'm sure there is an easy solution, but I can't figure it out!
    Any help is much appreciated!!!

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • How do I get songs from my old Ipod onto my Iphone? I have a new apple ID for my phone... Do I need to use my old apple ID to get songs from my Ipod to my Iphone?

I need help getting songs from my Ipod to my Iphone. I have a different Apple ID on my ipod... I am not sure of that Apple ID. How do I figure that out? How do I get my songs to all be on my Iphone.
I do not want to repay for songs I have already.

Are the songs on a computer? Right mouse click on a song and on the summary page it will tell you what AppleID was used to purchase it.
If you are going to carry on using the same computer then just plug in the iPhone and sync the information there. So you will have a copy on your iPhone and maybe different stuff on your ipod.

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

  • Software to get songs off an iPod

what's the best software to get songs off an iPod on windows?

    Hi BigRedCube,
There are lots of good programs that can transfer your songs form your iPod. I specially like two, though.
In my opinion, [iPod Access|http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/index.html] ou o [iRepo|http://www.purpleghost.com/index.php?q=irepo] are excellent, once they have iPod Touch/iPhone compatibility and can also transfer your important metadata.
    Hope this helps!

  • Songs on the iPod can't be synced because of all the playlists selected for

when i plug my iPod in a message pops up and says "songs on the iPod can't be synced because of all the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist"
i've read what other people have put on this topic and when i click on the music tab under my iPod nothing happens. please help!
    Gateway   Windows XP

You get this problem when the option 'Sync Music - Selected playlists' is being used to sync your iPod and then the playlist it has been updating from is deleted. Most people use this setting when the iPod is smaller than the iTunes library. If your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod". If you for any reason delete it, you will not be able to sync your iPod.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. You can make this a normal playlist and drag whatever you want to it or you can make it a random Smart playlist. If you are making a smart playlist limit it to just less than the size of your iPod (for example 3700MB for a 4G iPod Nano). Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
To make a random playlist go to File>New Smart Playlist.
    Uncheck "Match the following rule"
Check "Limit to" put "3700" in the number box, choose "MB" from the first list box, choose "Random" from the next list box. Check "Live Updating"
When you want to change the selection in the playlist just delete everything in it and it will add a new selection

  • I used to download illegal music files from limewire, I don't anymore though, and I've since deleted them all from my iPod and will never do it again, but could I get in trouble for what I did before?

And how can I delete the illegal music files on iTunes that me and my brother used to download? Maybe I could delete or report the music files, I really love apple and I really don't want to do this illegal stuff anymore. It's really not fair to anyone and it's also wrong. (Something I somehow couldn't see when I first got my iPod back in 2009) I buy all my music from iTunes now on my iPod, and have since deleted all the data which includes all the songs from my iPod (for a while I didn't use my iPod for music, just games) I am now afraid to put the songs I purchased and downloaded on iTunes on my computer with all of the pirated music! Please help, I really just want to know overall if apple could hate me for this, and what I can do to delete all the songs from iTunes (like the ones me and my brother downloaded that he still uses, though I guess I can't control that.)
Is it just me or was I never meant to feel like an honest user? (I really want to feel like I am)

Firstly, where do I go to delete the songs from my hard drive? Can I delete them straight from iTunes?
You can delete them right from iTunes:
    - Click on the song to highlight it (select it). Alternatively, you can Control-Click on a number of songs to select them.
    - Go to Edit in the Menu bar and choose Delete (alternatively, you can Right-Click on the song and choose Delete from the pop-up menu.
    - You'll be asked "Are you sure you want to remove the selected song from your iTunes library." Click Remove.
    - Next, you'll be asked " Do you want to move the selected song to the Recycle Bin, or keep it in the iTunes Media folder?" Click "Move to Recycle Bin"
    - Empty The Recycle Bin on your desktop.
Can I delete all the illegal songs including the ones my brothers (Apparently more than one are doing this) downloaded? Would it be somehow against the rules to delete their songs even if they didn't pay for them?
It's best to talk to your brothers before deleting their stuff. Tell them how uncomfortable you feel about having 'stolen property' in your shared iTunes Library.
Could their downloading of these songs get me in trouble somehow? And lastly, should I still use iTunes on this computer if they're doing this?
If this is your computer and the Music Distributers find out through your Internet Service Provder that you/your brothers are illegally downloading/sharing music then you can get in trouble.
You can continue to use iTunes but I would really try to get this resolved with your brothers. Hope this helps and as I said earlier, you are doing the right thing by buying music legally!
