Get static sounds on CD after burning CD of iTunes purchased music

I am able to burn CDs (finally...) after lots of trouble with burns. BUT, now the CDs have the music very faint in the background with lots of static sounds over top. Obviously, it is not "listenable".
Please give me suggestions of what to try. I had bought more iTunes music thinking that I was going to be able to burn CDs. Help!
IBM Thinkpad   Windows XP   iTunes version 7.1.1.5

can you post your DVD/CD diagnostics for us? in iTunes, go "help > run diagnostics", select DVD/CD diagnostics, and paste the results into a reply.
also, what particular Family of ThinkPad do you have? the iTunes diagnostics will return the Type and Model of ThinkPad ... but i also need to know the Family in order to check for downloads at Lenovo:

    Ed,
I tried burning the files that distort (from Itunes) using toast on my G5 instead of my powerbook pro and still the distortion. Is it possible that itunes corrupted all my files when I upgraded?
Art,  there is nothing about an iTunes upgrade that would modify the song files in any way, but stranger things have happened.  If the same effect is occurring on a different computer, there is something suspicious.
Make a new playlist with the same tracks in reverse order and burn it.  Does the distortion appear on the same tracks in their new position?  Or does it move to the tracks that are now the higher numbers?

  • Why do I get static sound when I use a headset splitter iwith my macbook air 13"?

Why do I get a static sound when I use a headset splittter with my macbook air? The headphone works perfectly but when I put the mic in the splitter, the sound gets a little bit static. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

I suggest an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.
Perhaps an Apple Hardware Test may provide a clue:

Note that an error free AHT is not definitive.

  • Anyone else having problems with the new Mac Mavericks update? I get static sound at random times now?

Macbook 2009 does static sound on google chrome and so does my mac desktop. This is all started under Mavericks 10.9.2 for me.

Nevermind I fixed it. Atleast I think I did, I just set my audio to 24-bit and 9600khz or whatever its called and it sounds clear now. At least I hope that fixed the problem.

  • After burning cds on iTunes using my Mac, every track seems to skip

I've been always burning cds on iTunes. Lately, I burned about 3 cds and everytime I play them, every track seems to skip. Is there a solution for this? I'm not sure if it's the burner or something else. Please help!

Burning CDs, especially with iTunes, has always been finicky.
For CDs that have playback problems, the first thing to try is to burn again at a very low speed, e.g. 2x.  This selection is made as the "Preferred Speed" in the Burn Disc dialog.
That often solves it, but if not, the next thing to try is a different brand of CD-R blank.  (I assume you already know that CD-RWs will not give good results, so it has to be a CD-R.) I eventually gave up on every brand of CD-R blank except Verbatim, but it will depend on your burner.
If there are still problems, try burning a CD on the same computer with a non-iTunes program, such as Toast.  If there is a problem with your burner, you will see it.

  • Is there a limit to how many times you can burn a CD of purchased music?

Sorry if this is a common question...
I tend to buy music in the iTunes store, then burn CDs to listen to in my car. They get scratched up a lot so I will usually need to burn them several times. Will iTunes allow me to do this with DRM-protected, purchased music, as many times as I need?

You can only burn any given playlist containing tracks from the iTunes Music Store a maximum of seven times. After that, you have to change the playlist in some way (adding or removing a track will do) or create a new playlist.

  • ITunes purchased music not burning

I am trying to burn some Itunes downloaded music, They says protected AAC. I have the advanced settings on 1X speed and audio CD. I get an error code3 which says the speed is too fast but it is set on the lowest speed I can see. I understand that I can burn iTunes music but not sure what the problem is. Thanks.

Hi everybody. I guess it's somewhat comforting learning that I'm not the only one with this problem. I recently updated to iTunes 6, and just yesterday tried to burn my first audio CD off that new version. I've been getting the same "burn speed incompatibility" message you all are talking about. It took me a while just to figure out that the problem had to do with the purchased music on my iTunes library, 'cause I can burn imported music just fine. The iTunes Help index only addresses authorizing one's computer to play purchased music, which I'm assuming all of us have done. I tried "repairing permissions" on my hard drive using Disk Utility, based on what a friend said to try, and then actually managed to burn a CD-RW with my purchased music playlist. I then tried burning a CD-R with the same playlist, and the same "burn speed" problem occured. Doesn't matter what speed I set the burner at either. I make a lot of CD's for friends and such. Does ANYONE know how to fix this problem??

  • No longer allowed to burn CD of ITunes purchases?

Just bought an album and was trying to burn it to CD so I could play on my home stereo.
Burn option is now gone, and Toast crashes, so I'm assuming that I am SOL to use my purchase except on an iPod or my home computer.
Is this now policy for all purchased music?
Will think twice about buying any more if this is the case.

Using latest iTunes 7.5 (19). Downloaded an album. Normally, I would select all the songs, and then a burn to disk icon would be available down below. When I "right click" (hold down the control key), I don't get an option in the list for burning a disc. The only thing close is convert to AAC (which I am not allowed to do).
I ended up going to Amazon and purchasing the disc, which ironically, cost less with shipping than my crippled iTunes purchase.

  • Burning Playlists that include Purchased Music

I've been trying to download playlists that include purchased songs, but everytime I click Burn, iTunes crashes. If I removed the purchased song, it works fine.
We are allowed to burn purchased music correct?
    Suggestions?

You should collect a crash log and send it to Apple so that the engineers can look at it.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log" If there's already a file there, it most likely has multiple crash logs in it (new crash logs are just appended to the end of the file). So, delete this file. This will make sure you're not sending extra information to Apple that they don't need.
So, get the machine setup to collect crash logs, do the thing that makes iTunes crash. Send this file and your CD diagnostics to the apple moderator. Tell her Toonz sent you. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context.

  • Lost iTunes purchased music after latest IOS upgrade

After the automatic IOS upgrade for the Apple Watch my iTunes account lost several purchased albums.  I have tried to re-download the purchased music but not successfully, I'm only able to download four of the songs and they are still not showing up in my iTunes library.

For info these are user-to-user forums, you are not talking to Apple nor iTunes Support.
If they don't show in the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store app on your iPhone and iPad then check to see if they are hidden : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
If you've moved countries since buying them, or if the rights-holder has removed them from the store, then you won't be able to redownload them. Also if the rights-holder has removed an album and replaced it with a different version then it be treated as a different album/purchase.

  • Can't burn or play itunes purchases outside itunes

I have purchased tracks that I want to burn on to CD. The tracks are in mp4 format and cannot be recognised to play or burn in Nero or Windows Media Player. Can anyone tell me how to combat this problem or am I doomed

Unless they are 'iTunes plus' purchases which are DRM free, the songs are copy protected. Apple will not allow us to discuss circumventing the copy protection.
Why can't you burn them in iTunes?

  • Can't play itunes purchased music after back-up restore

I recently had to restore my home folder from a back-up, because my drive failed. I authorised the computer without problem, but when I try to play the purchased music nothing happens and I mean nothing. No error message, no spinning wheel. Just nothing. When I play it through a play list it just skips to the next song. Same thing on my iPod. Now I should mention, cause I think it's important, that this is happenining with only 1 of my purchased songs. The rest are working. Normally I would just replace the defective file. Obviously this wouldn't work in this case.
So how do I go about fixing this problem or getting the file replaced?
    Thanks,

Please help... I am having the same problem. I purchased 250 songs on iTunes and now can not play at least half the songs because my computer (the same one I downloaded the songs to and the only one I have owned) is not authorized. When I try to authorize the songs - nohing happens. Additionally, some other person with a similiar email account name had downloaded iTunes on to his computer, but my credit card was charged for his songs. Fortunately, he called me and reimbursed me for the songs (very nice guy).
Does iTunes have a support person we can talk to? If not this is crazy. It is tough to be a loyal customer with things like this happening. I would appreciate any thoughts on how I can remedy this situation. Thanks in advance.

  • Reload itunes purchased music after PC stolen

How do I reload all my purchased music? My computer was stolen and am trying to reload all my purchases. Can get my purchase history but can't seem to find a way to get them all back

I take it there's no backup? If you have it on an ipod, you can at least get it off of that. Otherwise you are going to have to buy it all again.
