Get strange audio from other parts of the video when I am using transitions
In most cases when I add a transition, I get a strange piece of audio inserted during the transition. I know I can go in and manually edit this out, but is there some sort of fix to keep this from happening in the first place?

Yes, that is a problem that happens sometimes, especially with the Cross-Dissolve transition. I use that one a lot, and run into this with many of my clips. I have 'fixed' it with a variety of methods including muting, putting music over it, adding audio clips recorded from the beginning of the next clip....for this one I have to delete the transition, crop the next clip, remove it to the clips pane, add back the transition and record the audio from the deleted clip using WiretapPro. Works great and actually is faster than it seems.
You might be able to get some correction by trashing iMovie's preference file; Close iMovie. Go to YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.imovie.plist
If you also have iMovie 8, you will see its plist as com.apple.imovie7.plist, so be sure to trash the correct one.
Drag the plist file to the trash. Reopen iMovie and see if it works properly now.

I used Roxio VHS to DVD for Mac (have iMac with Snow Leopard) and the audio does not synch with the video when playing in iMovie. Any suggestions to fix?
Thanks for the reply. I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long. After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix. I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

Hi. I have a OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1 Mac Book Air, Processor 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Has anyone else had a problem with the audio not keeping up with the video when switching to full screen on YouTube?
The video starts out fine, but if I click on the expand icon in the lower right corner of the screen the audio won't keep up.
Refreshing the page don't help at all. In fact, nothing seems to help once it starts.
I did not have this problem at all using Mavericks. The problem started after installing Yosemite.
Any way to fix it?only $99, i thought it was closer to $175.

The Working with Audio clip also included the solution for extracting the audio from a clip at the very end of the video. Having to know the secret handshake of shift-command and dragging is really not intuitive, but such is progress.... -
Music from other parts of the world???
I found some music that I want to buy, however it is in the UK. I get a message that I can not buy it from the USA. Something about it being a USA sever. Is there a way to setup an account so that I can legally buy music that is on the UK server?

It's due to restrictions placed on Apple by the record companies and other rights holders. The entities that hold the rights to any given track are almost always completely different from country to country, so providing a given track in any given country requires individual negotiations for any download store. In addition, each entity insists that tracks be sold only within that given country so that they all get their own piece of the pie. If you purchase a track from another country's iTMS, your local record company won't get their share of the payment and that's something they're generally not at all willing to forgo. These entities don't like cross-border sales of CDs either, but there's nothing they can do to stop such sales. They can, though, and do stop cross-border download sales, since if the download stores refuse, the rights holders won't license the tracks to that store.
So unless and until the record companies, et. al, all get together and agree to allow download stores to sell cross-border, there's absolutely nothing Apple or any other download store can do. -

Not receiving email notifications of iCal event invitations from other parties.
I am not receiving emails for iCal event invitations from other parties, but the invitations ARE in my iCal Inbox. I don't use iCal often, so I never proactively go in to check my Inbox there, but rather have always depended on receiving the email notification of an event invite to know to add it to my iCal. I can SEND invitations to others successfully with other parties receiving MY email notifications, I'm just not receiving them via email.
I've now missed two very important meetings because I never received the email invitations to add an event, which were the only forms of correspondence for both. Can anyone help me? Thank you!Hello mcdannej,

i have LR from 2 through 4.4, I am simply trying to adjust CR2s, and convert the them JPEG. LR says my Perfectly Clear is expired but my update is up to date and all paid for. What is Perfectly Clear and how do i get this puppy to be part of the team?

Using QuickTime Pro with an .mpg movie, why can I only get it to play from the beginning, but not from any other point in the video? How can I fix this?

Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them. Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport). What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?
First thing to try is reset Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next would be reset the router (power off 15 secs then back on). And, 2 minutes later, reset the printers 1 by 1. -
My I-Pad is locked up with a message that I-Clouhd has not been backed up in two weeks and that the I-Pad must be locked, connected to wireless, and plugged in. I cannot get this message to go away or access other parts of the I-Pad.
I can't turn off the I-Pad either.U really need to call Apple support ,because only they can help you , or go the store but make sure u have an appointment ,they are always a mob scene

I would do 1 thing at a time:"now the micropohone is not working in facetime"
Here is what you can check to get your mike working in facetime:
1. Hold down option while you click on the speaker next to time a. date,
under input Device see if your mic is marked. If not: ✔️
2. Click the apple top left/System Prefs./click on the Sound speaker:
under Input highlight microphone.
3. When you have factime on go to video above scroll and see if your mic is marked ✔️
If that does not get it to work there is more you can check:
(Utilities/Audio, midi setup)
For any other audio device you do this for input and output.

I did not try your trick, didn't see your post until after i visited the Apple store. The tech at the genius bar did not know why my "Other" memory had grown so huge. It was over 24GB, which only left me with 1 GB free on my 32GB iPad. I had been loading and unloading video's yesterday thru itunes to try various compression settings. I did not notice the other categrory growing until I tried to load a 3 GB movie file and it told me I was out of memory.
I probably loaded and unloaded 30 different times, trying different compression settings. In the process of doing this, it apparently loaded up the "Other: stuff. To me it seems like recycle bin in windows, but no one knows how to free it up.
So here is what he did and it worked. He reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Then he hooked it up to itunes on his computer. Fortunately I have everything backed up on my home computer. When my iPad showed up on iTunes at the store, it showed the 24 MB of "Other" momentarily, then it reduced to about .7 GB giving me 24.5 GB free. Resetting it seemed to do the trick, but he still could tell me how this is happening and how to prevent it.
I think I'll try to call someone at applecare to get an explanation, hopefully. -
Sony PFM-42V1: I cannot get any audio from monitor
I cannot get any audio from my PFM-42V1. first: I connected independent speakers via speaker sockets - result no sound. Then after reading its Manuel it suggested I connect headphones to the monitor's audio mini jack - again no sound. What I do not understand is it said if sound doesn't work with headphones - contact computer manufacturer. Any suggestions?
From your description it sounds like your using input 1 or input 2, you will need to feed a audio source into the 1/8 mini female jack (Fig. 1) next to input your using. This will allow the audio to pass to the speakers you've connected to the monitors speakers jacks (Fig 2). Also you'll want to make sure that within the Monitor Menu under Custom Setup that you have Speaker Out: On (not off).
