Get the current action in a JSP

In a JSP, can I determine what action has been executed?
I am using an included JSP fragment that has navigation links, and I would like to determine which action was executed in order to highlight the appropriate link.
I looked at the request, but it was not immediately apparent.
Thanks,

Hi !
there is a method on the super class of your pageflow named getCurrentActionName(). This method may only be called during an action invocation. Best way to remember this is probably implementing the before action storing the current action name somewhere, as in the sample code below.
protected synchronized void beforeAction() throws Exception
this.currentAction = super.getCurrentActionName();
this action name is probably stored some other places to by the workshop framework, however I am not able to find it somewhere else than in the currentActionName() method.

  • How to get the current date using HTMLB JSP page

    Hi All, I developed an iview with several fields using PDK, I would like to know how can I include for a date field a dynamic value witch in this case is the current date.
    <hbj:inputField
    id="Date"
    type="date"
    maxlength="10"
    showHelp="TRUE"
    required="TRUE"
    value="???"
    />
    Thanks in advance
    Alexis

    Hi Alexis ,
    u can use the setDate("3.12.2003") function to set date for this input field.
    u just change the id = Date , because in jave we have Date class. rename it to another name..
    suppose id = systemDate
    <%
    Format formater = new SimpleDateFormat("dd.MM.yyyy");
    Date syDatum = new Date();
    %>
    then
    put
        systemDate.setDate(formater.format(syDatum));
    this will set the date .....

  • Getting the last action from a managed bean

    Is it possible to get the last action that was submitted from within a backing bean.
    I have an application that has a context specific menu at the top of the page. The context menu is generated using a backing bean which is called from a tiled jsp, called contextmenu.jsp.
    The context menu backing bean needs to know what page it is on so that it can generate the correct menu, so is it possible to get hold of the last action submitted, or the current page from within the backing bean?
    Any help would be much apprecieated.
    Jamie Cash

    Thanks for your help,
    but ...
    We will be developing over 200 jsps and don't want to load the development effort with a backing bean for each jsp.
    The solution that I finally arrived at is using the following code in the menubean to get the view id, and make the decision based on that.
    public NavigationMenuItem[] getContextMenu()
         //Get view id
              String viewId = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().getViewId();
              logger.debug("view id: " + viewId);
              //Menu
              NavigationMenuItem[] contextMenu = null;
              if(viewId.equals("/home.jsp"))
                   .... Code to get context menu from Stateless Session bean
              //Return menu
              return contextMenu;

  • How to get the current tree element (node/childnode/childnode/...) ?

    Hello!
    I'm trying to create a kind of a navigation tree for my application.
    It should represent some elements of an XML structure and some other nodes for other options.
    The binding with the context is not a problem, I can create the tree up to all the levels I want to.
    The problem now is, that I don't know, how to get the "current tree element", when there is any action.
    For example:
    public void onActionSelect(...) {
    String test = wdContext.currentTreeNodeElement().getText();
    wdThis.wdGetContext().currentContextElement().setSelectedElement(test);
    With this method I can get the text of the "first level nodes". If I want to get the "second level node", I can do
    String test = wdContext.currentTreeNodeElement().currentChildElement.getText();
    ..and for the next levels so on.
    Isn't there any general method to get the information of the selected element without knowing before, whether it is a nodeElement or a nodeElement.currentChildElement or a nodeElement.currentChildElement.currentChildElement, ...?
    Greetings,
    Ramó

    Hi,
    if you following that pdf ,
    i think your not implemented the below code in DomodifyView method
    if (firstTime) {
          IWDTreeNodeType treeNode = (IWDTreeNodeType) view.getElement("TheNode");
          /* The following line is necessary to create parameter mapping from parameter "path" to parameter "selectedElement".
    Parameter "path" is of type string and contains the string representation of the tree element (its corresponding context element to be exact)
    that raised the onAction event. Parameter "selectedElement" is of type IWDNodeElement (or extends it) and is defined as parameter in the event handler
    that handles the onAction. The parameter mapping defined here translates the String "path" into the corresponding context element that then can
    be accessed within the event handler
          treeNode.mappingOfOnAction().addSourceMapping("path", "selectedElement");
          /* The following line is necessary to create parameter mapping from parameter "path" to parameter "element".
    Parameter "path" is of type string and contains the string representation of the tree element (its corresponding context element to be exact)
    that raised the onLoadChildren event. Parameter "element" is of type IWDNodeElement (or extends it) and is defined as parameter in the event handler
    that handles the onLoadChildren. The parameter mapping defined here translates the String "path" into the corresponding context element that then can
    be accessed within the event handler
          treeNode.mappingOfOnLoadChildren().addSourceMapping("path", "element");
    please cross check once.
    Thanks,
    Ramesh

  • How to get the current slide Index or Id?

    I can get the selected slide of presentation use blow method.
    Office.context.document.getSelectedDataAsync(Office.CoercionType.SlideRange, function (asyncResult) {
    if (asyncResult.status == Office.AsyncResultStatus.Failed) {
    write('Action failed. Error: ' + asyncResult.error.message);
    else {
    write('Selected slides: ' + JSON.stringify(asyncResult.value.slides));
    But, How can I get the executor slide?

    Hi,
    >> How to get the current slide Index or Id?
    In my option, when you select a slide, it change to current slide. So, you could use the getSelectedDataAsync method to get the current slide, and then get the index or id by using the Slice object. You could refer the link below for Slice Object.
    # Slice.index property (JavaScript API for Office)https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/office/jj715285.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    Some key code as below:
    <script>
    function getText() {
    Office.context.document.getSelectedDataAsync(Office.CoercionType.SlideRange,
    { valueFormat: "unformatted", filterType: "all" },
    function (asyncResult) {
    var error = asyncResult.error;
    if (asyncResult.status === Office.AsyncResultStatus.Failed) {
    write(error.name + ": " + error.message);
    else {
    // Get selected data.
    var dataValue = asyncResult.value;
    write('Selected data is ' + dataValue.slides[0].index);
    // Function that writes to a div with id='message' on the page.
    function write(message) {
    document.getElementById('message').innerText += message;
    </script>

  • Get the current session in a Session Bean?

    Hi,
    I know how to get the current session from a Servlet, you use request.getSession().
    However I need access to the current session from a Session Bean. As far as I know, only Servlets have a request object, so I can't use request.getSession()
    Any ideas on how to access the session from a Session Bean?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I managed to get around the problem by using a JSP to
    pass a session object to a method in my session bean.
    ThanksJust be aware that the serialized Session object can be a huge stream to remotely pass to your bean...

  • Getting the current row in a datatable

    Hi,
    I am using datatable. How do I get the current row in the datatable
    and use it for my processing in the JSP page
    or I want to just output that value with out using any jsf tags.
    Examples
    <h:dataTable styleClass="dataTable" id="table1" border="0"                    value="#{myTrainingHandler.myMediaTraining}" var="dataIt">
    <h:column id="column1">
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText styleClass="outputText" value="Course Name"id="text1"></h:outputText>
    </f:facet>
    <!---------------------------------------------- how do I get the value of #{dataIt.name} and use it in the JSP way
    Reason: I just want to output the value. If I am using h:outputText then it inserts <span>... </span>
    or, I want to transfer that value to another another attribute in the session or something like that.
    ---------------------!>
    <h:outputText styleClass="outputText" id="text2" value="#{dataIt.name}"></h:outputText>
    </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>
    -Aswath

    It looks like good idea!Unfortunately this is just workaround. Indeed your
    suggestion is real JSF-feeling solution but due to the
    bug (or rather pure design of RI implementation???) it
    is dangerous.
    I had some doubt about is it bug or my incompetence.
    Unfortunately this seems is really bug.
    Hope this problem will be solved in the next releases.from blueprints catalog:
    Component bindings (e.g. <h:inputText binding="#{MyBean.lastNameComponent}" />) should always be stored in request scope since their value is no longer valid after a request has been processed anyway. The component tree is reconstituted during each incoming request, changing the physical instances these component bindings will point to.
    as you see there is really problem in using session backing bean with component binding
    so that means idea with parameter looks better now because we don't need to use table binding.
    Or probably we can define some kind of pattern like couple of beans with request scope and session scope.
    for example:
    Catalog - session scope
    CatalogView - request scope
    Catalog will keep session data and CatalogView will provide some presentation logic (including some stricly visual oriented data) and access to business methods of Catalog class.
    I will send you example by e-mail (on friday) if you not mind.
    >
    Thank you for your suggestion!
    Probably I will use your idea in my application.
    By the way I'm from Kiev also.Hello from Kiev :-)
    I have one suggestion.
    I'm working on JSF form that suppose to add, editand
    delete records from table.
    Also I wanna to use scrolling by page and sorting.
    I'm trying to make this form somehow clean and
    universal as much as possible.Seems I have same tasks for now.Great! I will send some code soon.
    And maybe we can discuss every aspect how to do good JSF based application including config oriented information and utilities classes.
    -how do you work with tables without primary keyI dont' have tables without primary key :)
    -how do you make pagination by universal wayWe need just make good component for that.
    We already started in this direction.

  • I need to get the current assignee for a given request using SOA's java api

    I'm developing a spring app that interfaces with Oracle SOA suite and executes the actions such as approving requests using the api. I need to get the current assignee for each SOA Task this is dispalyed in the OIM console so it is getting it from somewhere. I tried getApprovers in the ITaskService api but this returns an empty list

    I have checked it once again and there indeed are links for ALUI components for Solaris on SPARC at edelivery.oracle.com. (Officially ALUI supports Solaris on SPARC only)
    If you have looked at Solaris x86, then you must not have found them. Please make sure that you are selecting the righ platform. Also, make sure that you click on the Aqualogic media pack so as to get the lists of the components included in it. (Point to Note: You need to go to the next level)
    For whichever component you are not able to find, try looking for it in the Metalink (My Oracle Support) if you have a support contract.

  • How to get the current path of my application in java ?

    how to get the current path of my application in java ?
    thanks

    To get the path where your application has been installed you have to do the following:
    have a class called "what_ever" in the folder.
    then you do a litte:
    String path=
    what_ever.class.getRessource("what_ever.class").toString()
    That get you a string like:
    file:/C:/Program Files/Cool_program/what_ever.class
    Then you process the result a little to remove anything you don't want:
    path=path.substring(path.indexOf('/')+1),path.lastIndexOf('/'))
    //Might be a little error here but you should find out //quickly if it's the case
    And here you go, you have a nice
    C:/Program Files/Cool_program
    which is the path to your application.
