Get your voice heard..

As valued members of the Portal community, I would like to illicit some feedback from you on your Portal deployment experiences.
Over the years we have refined and improved our product installation and configuration experience so that the current release has certainly the cleanest and most reliable installation and configuration experience of all the the product releases.
We are currently in the planning phases for the next major iteration for Portal and we have an opportunity to change or improve some of the lifecycle aspects of the product.
In responding to this post, please respond with what you would like to see as a lifecycle experience, not what you think can be done ! We can always start with high goals and work downwards.. I would like to hear all your pain points, no matter how small or trivial. I would also like to hear your experiences of installing and configuring other non-Oracle products. Let us know how you think common deployment and life-cycle problems should be approached..
Please consider the following elements of a portal lifecycle and respond under those sub-headings..
• Initial Deployment - installation of a tier element on a clean machine.
• Redeployment - Deploying a tier element to an application server that has previously had the same application deployed to it. (i.e. moving a stage environment to a new machine for go-live)
• Undeployment - Removal of a portal installation from the application server
• Upgrade - In-situ migration of a midtier or infrastructure component from one version to another.
• Migration - Moving a complete portal installation (incl custom data) from one set of machines to another
• Cloning - Duplication of mid-tiers for scalability purposes. Possibly also complete architecture duplication for creation of test/UAT installations
• Patching - Both Oracle product patching and customer code patching
• Import/Export - The process for achieving some of the previous larger goals (e.g. cloning or migration), or simply providing inter-instance transport for content
• Backup/Recovery - Purposes of disaster recovery
• Other - Lifecycle or deployment areas not included in this list that you think are important
Kind regards

I didn't understand what you meant here but I'm currious.  Could you elaborate?
I admit that this Feature isn't at the top of my FRs either, but I often think that many easier to implement workflow improvements would be preferable to getting my number 1, harder to implement FR.  That's why I keep asking for the little stuff (as well as the big stuff of course)

iTunes on tmy new computer shows none of my data and I fear if I sync my iPod with the computer all will be deleted on the iPod.
I still have everything in iTunes on the old computer.

Just move your iTunes library to you new computer.  You can transfer iTunes purchases to you new computer from your iPod by:

After you move you stuff to the new computer, restore the iPod from backup.

  • How can I get my voice memos off of my iPhone?

I have a new iPhone and took some pictures and recorded a few voice memos.  I would like to save these before I restore my iPhone to the back up I have on my computer.  I was able to import the photos into iPhoto, but I am not sure how to import the voice memos.  Normally, I would see them in iTunes under the Voice Memos playlist, but they are not there.  When I click on the iPhone in iTunes it gives me a choice of restoring from back up or setting up as a new iPhone.  I am worried that either of choices would get rid of the two voice memos I have on my iPhone.  Any advice?

    Hey mahongue!
I have some information here that may help you import your voice memos into iTunes. This information is written for the iPod, but the steps for saving your voice memos should be the same with your iPhone:
    Synchronize
If iPod is set to update songs automatically and you record voice memos, the voice memos are automatically downloaded to a playlist in iTunes when you connect iPod. Once downloaded, the voice memos are removed from the Voice Memos folder on your iPod. To play the voice memos that have been synchronized to your computer in iTunes, select the Voice Memos playlist on the left side of the iTunes window. To play the synchronized voice memos on the iPod, select the Voice Memos playlist in the Music menu, not the Voice Memos menu in the Extras menu.

  • How can I get my voice memos back to the voice memo app on my iphone

Yeah, i just synced my iphone with my iTunes library and almost everything went smooth..  my pictures, apps, contacts, calendar, etc.  But I can not find the most important thing, the voice memos..  I had transferred them to my iTunes library the last time i synced, so i thought logically they should sync back into my voice memo app. Its important because they were lectures (im in college)!  And I planned to keep in order until the end of the semester until i had to restore it and back it up (because i went to get a new iphone)..
But now, i open the voice memo app, and its blank, there's not one memo..  And i don't know how to get them back in there..  I think i could put them in my Music library, but i dont want to do that.   I like to keep them in the voice memo app, so when i have exams i can just go back and listen to them in order (without them being all over the place.)
So all I'm asking is, is there a way to get my voice memos back to the voice memo app?  I have the latest version of iTunes (11.0.1.12) and an iPhone 4 with the latest iOs (6.0.1) and note i have a PC (Windows 7)..    I hate how iTunes totally changed their layout, it makes it harder.  That's why i couldn't follow older discussions on here, because the update made the layout so different..  Anyway, if you know what i should do, i would be very grateful.  Thanks.

  • Top Five Reasons on how to not get your iPod Stolen In N.Y.C.

Ok Im doing this because you constantly hear about ppl getting robbed for their iPods, well here's how not to.
    5. Keep Your iPod Out Of Sight!
Listen to your Inner Voice if you feel Like someone's watching you Leave The iPod hidden.
    4. Keep the Volume at a normal Level!
Listening To Loud Music is a sure fire way of getting stripped of your iPod, **** If you hear some one blasting Music in their ears it's a sign that they have a kind of portable Mp3 player, Cd players and cassette players volume doesn't go as loud as an iPod Does.
    3. Don't carry your iPod in Plain Sight!
    2. Save the Video's for other places!
Watching the latest Video or Movie on your iPod on The Ferry ,A train, Bus or in a Train or Ferry Terminal is a sure way to end up with out your iPod.
And the Number One reason on how to not get your iPod stolen In N.Y.C.
    1. Change the dayum Headphones you idiot!
The Typical iPod Headphones are a dead give away that you have an iPod so What if you feel like you have "Status" Now that you have an iPod keep wearing the iPod headphones and your gonna lose that "Status" Symbol, I Use a Cheap brand of Headphones that sound better the the apple headphones and I travel to the City a Lot my iPod stays out of Sight and I don't have no problems with ppl trying to steal it.
    So now Who's Smarter?

    wooHoo! yes! common sense people.
you know that anyone who's had their ipod stolen has done these things.
as added protection I have long hair so I use a headset without a band. and you can't tell I'm using headphones.
and aren't apple earbuds just awful.

  • How do I get a voice over from garage band into Final cut x?

How do I get a voice over from garage band into Final cut x?  Sorry if this is a newbie question.  I have been editing in final Cut express on my MacBook Pro and just jumped to a new iMac and Final Cut ProX.  Trying to record my own voice on a Yeti mic and import it as narration for a video.  Thought I could simply import media but X has it greyed out.

Sharing with iTunes is OK, but it is likely to produce a file in MP3 or AAC, which can cause problems. You can create an AIFF version of an MP3 file in iTunes and use that.
To create an AIFF version, go to iTunes/Preferences and click the General Tab. Click the Import Settings button. Choose Import Using: AIFF Encoder. Then choose your track, and click FILE/CREATE AIFF Version. Use this in FCPX. Be sure to go back into iTunes Preferences and set the import options back to where you had it, so the next time you rip an CD it does not make an AIFF.

  • How can i get magic voice changer on my nokia c6?

hi just wondering how can i get magic voice changer on my nokia c6? please if anyone can help thanks!

Make sure your own music files are saved in the proper folder (Digital sounds) whether in your memory card or the phone memory, the location should still be:
    Sound Clips > Digital Sounds.
If your songs/mp3s are saved anywhere else, it will not show up as a selectable ringing tone.
You can move your songs through File Manager on your phone if they are in the wrong location (Options > Move to folder).
Hope that clarifies it for you.

Pete, you have found like many before you, that eventually software becomes out of date, where software developers at different points no longer support old versions of their product, which eventually fossilizes your computer. It is inevitable.
You have heard of dog years, well computer years are even shorter, which makes your seven year old laptop certainly middle aged. It is still useful, running the applications it always has, so keep it. But online its years will show.
With the internet, new software developments affect browsers, and plugins, with java, flash etc.
Software development is often in step with hardware innovation, and most Apple hardware is not very upgradable and Apple don't support things for very long.
This leaves you with a an old PowerBook that will still be good for the things it does, though it will have increasing limitations with some modern internet media sites.
Mozilla no longer support 10.4 Tiger but fortunately there is a group who have kept it alive with their version of Firefox,

Check it out, it may be just what your need.

  • Did anyone else have endless problems getting your...

I am astonished by BT. As a new customer, I thought I would go for BT as they seem to be pretty reliable once set up which is the main thing I need. I had heard reports that getting your line connected and set up can be problematic, but I never thought it would be as bad as this!!
I applied online on the 25th of Feb and all seemed good with an engineer due on the 3rd March to connect the line and broadband to be activated same day. This didn't happen. After a very long phone call, most of it spent on hold, I was advised that they would call back after 48 hours to let me know the new date for an engineer to visit. I never got a call. After another lengthy cal, I was finally given an activation date of the 11th March. This was interesting since the phone line wasn't connected. Not a problem I thought as I had then received a letter telling me an engineer would come to connect the phone on the 16th. The hub arrived on the 11th as expected, the engineer on the 16th. This is not the end of the story!! I am still waiting for the broadband to be activated!!! After the engineer left, still with no broadband, I called BT and it turns out that they never activated it. They are looking into when they will be able to do this and will give me a call back!!!!!
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I am at serious risk of going bald after ripping all of my hair out in frustration!!! Is it worth waiting a bit longer or should I just cancel the whole order since they have yet to deliver the service I have subscribed to?!?! If I ditch BT, does anyone have any suggestions about who I should go with?!

    Thanks for the email!
    Here's the latest:
I have phoned somebody at BT everyday since the 16th, always being told I would get a call back within 24hrs, but never getting that elusive call back. I have to say that everyone I have spoken to has been very friendly, looked into the problem for me, and has done everything that they can to help, it seems that it is the teams they pass the query on to that are the problem. The lady I spoke to yesterday credited my account with a months broadband as an apology for all of the problems which is nice.
I got a text message and a couple of emails in the early hours of the morning today saying my broadband was active and ready to use. It isn't. I phoned again today and was told to ignore the messages as they are wrong. My new (this is the 4th one now) activation date is the 26th. So this means that thanks to the credit to my account, I am not paying for something that I don't have! I might as well not have bothered placing the order in the first place as I'd be in exactly the same position I am now, but would have had time to eat lunch on my lunchbreaks instead of spending them on the phone to BT!
Anyone want to place a bet on whether I will be connected on the 26th or not? Maybe it will be 4th time lucky! Personally I really doubt it. Order will be cancelled if they fail this time.
