Creative may repair it for a cost, or they may not, I don't think they are obliged to. Try contacting them.
Why didn't you just back up your songs onto a computer and then retransfer them when you got a new player, or the problem was fixed. It might take a few hours, but is surely easier than taking the hard disk dri've out?

Get Windows 10 set up quickly and learn how to use it with Geek Squad
Windows 10 has just been released and many people are saying this is the most important offering from Microsoft in many years. It is packed with amazing new features. Geek Squad has a range of services related to helping you get started with Windows 10, quickly and hassle free.
All you need is wireless. If the DSL modem does not provide routing services or does not provide wireless, then you need to get a wireless/wired router. If the modem provides wireless, then that's all you need. Consult the user manual for the DSL modem or talk to your service provider.

I'm using SuSE Linux 12.3 and Firefox v 29 for SuSE.
About 80+% of the time Firefox will take minutes to get to my personal website. Often it never gets to the site and Firefox just stops (the progress wheel in upper left corner stops turning).
I can get to my website almost instantly every time using Chromium or Konqueror, but not with Firefox.
Other websites are occasionally slow, but I understand that could be attributed to lots of people trying to access the site at the same time. But not in this case -- I'm the only person on the Internet trying to get to my site and Firefox just doesn't want to cooperate.
I have tried clearing the cache and browser history -- all the usual stuff -- but it has not fixed the problem. Interestingly, and sort of counter-intuitively, after clearing the above I will get to my website very quickly the first time I try Firefox. But within a few minutes it's back to the same problem.
I have spent considerable time trying to trouble shoot this with my webmaster who also hosts my website. He is very well versed in Linux and the Internet, but this has him stumped. Why just Firefox and why just my website?
Also, I **can** get to my website very quickly using my Android cell phone, but not on my desktop computer. With the computer it's like watching paint dry..... slow, slow, slow.....
Any thoughts? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

My MacBook get's hot really quick and then discharge's quickly without opening any program, please help.
I have checked the cooling fan, and it's working, and I took it to an IT technician and he said my hardware is allright, so is it a problem from the OS it self??
OS X(10.8.5)Restart with the Option key held down and the Mac OS X install disk inserted, provide the firmware password, click on the DVD, press the button with the straight arrow, access the firmware settings, disable the password, and use FireWire Target Disk mode. If you can't do that or it doesn't work, contact Apple.

How do I get my Macbook to speed up and restore to previous working speeds?
Apple Geniuses: please help! My Macbook (not more than 3.5 years old) has started running agonizingly slow, just in the last 3 hours. I was using it for about an hour with no problems and then suddenly everything started stalling - Safari quit responding, couldn't force quit programs, even opening up my applications folder took several tries and several minutes to work. And then, if I succeed in opening a folder, some of the icons won't display, and I can't click any open. Sometimes, Finder would quit responding and I'd have to wait a few seconds for everything on my desktop to reappear. Also, at the time I first noticed it slowing down, I wasn't running more than two programs: Safari (with only 5 tabs open, one of them Netflix and the others online articles) and Finder. I also monitored my CPU usage at the time and nothing seemed to be spiking unusually. I've reset the PRAM and SMC three times, each. I'm at my wit's end and Apple Customer Service is closed (and I really, really don't want to go to the Apple Store on Black Friday for help with a technical issue!!!) Any ideas on what to do? Even just writing this took several minutes as I waited out the pinwheel of death...
Again, this is NOT just an internet connectivity or speed issue, it's the whole computer that is having problems. Trying to click and open anything on my desktop or within Finder has become agonizing. When it goes to sleep (on its own, randomly) I can't get it to wake back up and the usual password lock I have on it doesn't show any more. And the mouse is sometimes unreactive. After resetting the PRAM and SMC, the Macbook then started having trouble finding its internet network, and even using Spotlight was an impossible task (I had to wait for it to finish "indexing", which took almost ten minutes).
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAMAh, thanks! I did not have my system disk to run, but I repaired the disk permissions and all seems to be restored, I think. I still notice it taking a long time to "think" about certain tasks, i.e. opening a new tab in Safari, or going from one tab to another. Sometimes typing things too quickly will cause it to spin its wheels for a while before anything shows.
And today, I noticed that iTunes would not open. I tried several times, unsuccessfully. Could this be related to the disk permissions repair? Here is the exact text of the error message:

I have an iPad 1 that is currently showing software updated at version 5.1.1. Is it possible to update to iOS version 7 on this device? My goal is to get Garage Band on this device and the app store is telling me I need iOS version 7.
Hi,
If you really need to upgrade you can save a bit of money and get an older version than the ipad Air.
First, you can sell your ipad 1 to places like gazelle.com, cashforyourmac.com, sellyour mac.com, or many others out there. The sites I listed give you cash. At this point gazelle.com is giving $70.00 for any ipad 1 in 'good' condition. And cashforyourmac will give you $25.00 over what gazelle.com or sellyourmac.com offers you. Shipping is free.
Then, with that money, go the the Apple online certified refurbished store. As an example, a new 64gb Air costs $699.00. A refurbed 4th gen 64gb costs $529.00 and a 3rd gen 64gb costs $499.00. Personally, I'd skip the 3rd gen. So if you buy a 4th gen 64gb at $529.00 minus what you can get from a sale to above, you can get an ipad 4 64gb for just over $430.00, a savings of savings of about $270.00. (A new 32gb Air is $599.00, a 4th gen 32gb is $449.00, and a 3rd gen 32gb is not on the site right now.) Google it and check if you can get better offers anywhere else. But getting one from the Apple refurb store gives you an essentially new ipad and using the above sites, you're not locked in with a particular site which will give you a gift card and restrict you to their store/site.
Each Apple refurbished ipad (any version) comes with a new front and back cover, a brand new battery, same return policy, and a full one year warranty with 90 days of phone support. Each comes in a white box like a new ipad with the wall charger and usb cable. The only difference is that it says in small print on the bottom of the box that it is Apple certified refurbished. Also, if you buy refurbs, be sure to check the store many times a day. They can come and go quickly, so when you see what you want, buy it right away. Shipping is free and pretty fast. (We bought two a year and a half ago and they have been great!)
Hope this helps. -
I have a 2008 Macbook 2GHz 2GB that initially ran on Snow Leopard, and I upgraded it to Lion about 6 months ago. Since the upgrade, it has become slow to start up, open programmes and regularly stops responding - especially when I'm on the Internet - leaving me with the processing colourwheel, and forcing me to turn it off by the button.
I have tried repairing permissions and it doesn't seem to make a difference, could it just be that I don't have enough RAM (only 2GB) to run Lion? I don't want to revert back to Snow Leopard because I sync my laptop with my phone using iCloud, and Snow Leopard would complicate that.
I have also noticed that it heats up especially quickly and gets very hot, although I'm not sure if this problem is related or something to do with the version of Adobe or Microsoft Silverlight that I run on my Macbook.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks a lot!Honestly I would never run both Win 7 & XP at the same time in a VM. 7 needs at least 4GB to run properly and uses more resources then XP.
I personally use VMware Fusion and XP. At this time there is no software, that I'm aware of or use, that does not run on XP. So for my Mac Win VM purpose I only run XP with the software in need to use in Windows. This work very well for me. I have 2 CPUs and 3GBs of RAM assigned to XP. Leaving the other 2 CPU cores, 4 HT cores, and 5GBs of RAM for OS X.
Not sure why you need, or want, to run both versions of Windows at the same time. I don't see the need as stated above. -
Pse 12 cannot get e-mail code using thunderbird and window 8.1
Hello, I just installed PSE12 on my Windows 8.1 machine. When I try to e-mail a photo it keeping asking for a code. When I click on the resend nothing happens!! I have worked on this foe three days and nothing I try works. Does this option not work in PSE12???
Just to be clear, re the email address you are talking about. Is it the email address you are trying to send the photo to? If it is, then maybe you have not yet set up your email sending account.
You can check the sending account details in the Organizer, Edit> Preferences> Sharing.
It is the email account in this screen that you need to check for the verification details.
Cheers,

I downloaded Mavericks and it won't install. I did re-set my password and when I click on Install for Mavericks, I still get a box for "administrator password" and it still won't accept my new password. Is there a difference between my Apple ID and the administrator password they're asking for? I never had an administrator password-- I just hit enter and have never had a problem before with previous installations. I'm on an iMac, from 2007, running Mt. Lion (version 10.8.5). I've been looking for other's posts who may be having the same problem, but haven't found any. Can anyone help?
Ugh. The 'no password, no work' thing is a recent Apple development. I ran into it on my system and ended up having to do a clean install on a partition I fully erased.
I suppose, if you have the ability to, go online and look up how to burn a bootable DVD image. Download the 10.8.4 image then use the Disk Utility to make a boot image of it. You'll need a dual-layer DVD or a USB drive (or memory stick at least 8GB) If you've got an optical drive, burn the disk, if you've a USB device, use that.
Then get a pocket drive and copy your important files off the system or let Time Machine do a full backup.
When the backup is done, insert the disk and hold down the C key until the machine boots off of the DVD. At the point you get to the start window, go to the menu and choose the Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility, reformat the drive. You go to the actual DRIVE (not the Macintosh HD, but the root above it that is the actual hard drive device)
I always do this and *partition* it into several volumes, the benefit being, you can store all of your music, documents and importans stuff on that secondary storage volume you make - it will have it's own index and then the first volume is where you put the OS and it will have it's own index as well. That way, if the OS throws a wobbler and you need to reinstall, you don't lose your data.
Depending on the size of your hard drive, it is good to give your OS partition at least 60GB and optimally 100GB, and the rest for storage.
Name your volumes, use the little box sliders to manually size them or put that number in the size window, select for the format, Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and hit Apply and then the Disk Utility will quickly create your new partitions.
Once finished, quit the Utility and it will return you to the OS installer. Select the volume you want to install to and it should start up and install.
Once the installation is done, you'll get the new machine startup then you MUST put in a password for the computer. Once you're in, and to the desktop, don't bother with any Mountain Lion updates, go right to the App Store and get the Mavericks update and let it install the app to your Applicaitons folder, then do that install.
On a side note, there MAY be a way to make a disk image from the Mavericks application and avoid the entire Mountain Lion step.. I honestly do not know, but a bit of hitting the search engines may find out if there is. I think that if you looked for "make Mavericks boot disk or boot image' you may find something.
Good luck! -
How do I get a Google home page up and customize it to suit time, calendar etc.
I used to click on a shortcut icon on my desktop and get a Google screen customised to give me daily jokes, calendar, weather, time of day and a selected golf wallpaper. I downloaded incredimail and this wiped out the lot.
How do I restore the settings my original setup ???What you see in 5.0 is going to be around for awhile, it is unlikely there will be major changes to the interface for Firefox 6 or Firefox 7. Since Firefox is customizable you can make it look very much like 3.6.18 about the only difference you would see is silhouette icons instead of color. I think you would find it quicker and more satisfying to make the customizations to Fx5 and be current than to back to Fx3. You can check out the before and after pictures in Step #1 of the following -- the colors on the toolbar are for me to identify which profile I'm using.
You can make Firefox '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.18, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 5.0, or 4.0.1, look like 3.6)].
'''Research your extensions''',
You might also find addition information on the extension's add-on page, some may have updates, some solutions may be found in the developer comments or user comments on the add-on, or on the "'''View all versions'''" link which is part of the '''Release notes''' at the bottom of the add-on page where you may find a compatible version available that is waiting for approval.
You can force 5.0 "compatibility" with the "[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Compatibility Reporter]" extension, or with [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Extensions.checkCompatibility extensions.checkCompatibility] using about:config
One of the nice things about having extensions is that you can disable them and still use Firefox, disabled extensions will still get update notices. Or maybe use another extension until the one you want is fixed or works for you.
For those that really need an earlier version of Firefox, find your system and the Firefox version you want in releases, download and start the install.
* ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
:or with the latest of version 3
* http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older.html
: Note Mac OS X 10.4 user, and Mac OS X 10.5 users without Intel cannot upgrade to Firefox 4 or 5.
Firefox 4 is end of life it was just a platform so work could continue on Firefox 5 without updates to 4 (there was one update).
When reinstalling Firefox from a download, Firefox must be down once the installation starts. When the installation finishes, don't let the install start firefox for you. Instead end the install and start Firefox in your normal manner, thus preventing creating a new profile which does not have your bookmarks cookies, etc (but your old profile would still be around and would). -
Question
How do you get firefox 4 to save tabs and windows and restore them? Don't say set preferences to open them on startup or use restore previous session under history; those do not work. Or is it no longer possible to save windows and tabs?'''IT'S A EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.'''
This is essentially paulbruster's answer, but I've added the steps some might assume, but which aren't so obvious to those of us who are new at this, like me.
This solution might ''appear'' to be long and complicated, but after you follow the directions once, you'll find it's quick, clean, and simple. Almost like they designed it this way.
# If you haven't already, open a bunch of tabs on a few different subjects.
# Click the List All Tabs button on the right side of the tab strip.
# Select Tab Groups.
# Create a few groups as described [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups#w_how-do-i-create-a-tab-group here] , i.e. just drag them out of the main thumbnail group into the new groups they create.
# Now click on any thumbnail in any new group, but not the original big default group you may have left some tabs in.
#A regular Firefox window will open, but'' only the tabs in that group will be visible.'' You also now have the Tab Groups button in the tab strip.
# Right click on any tab, and there it is: Bookmark All Tabs. Click on it in the list of options. Or you can hit Ctrl+Shift+D instead and go straight to the dialogue box from the tab without any clicks. But don't go looking for this familiar option anywhere else, 'cause it's not there.
# Now pick an existing folder or create a new one just like you would have before and '''shlpam!''' there they are. New folders are supposed to end up in the Unsorted category all the way at the very bottom, but for some reason mine show up at the bottom of my last sorted category.
# DO NOT CLICK THE UPPER-RIGHTMOST X to close this group of tabs. This will close ALL of your tabs in all groups, currently visible or not. At least it asks if you're sure first. Instead, click your new Tab Groups button to return to the Boxes 'O Thumbnails window, and click the X in the group box you just bookmarked.
# Click on another thumbnail to repeat the process with another group, or click on a thumbnail in the big default box to return to the original FF window. You can also click the Tab Groups button at the upper right, or Ctrl+Shift+E, which will also get you ''into'' the Boxes 'O Nails window ''from'' FF.
# So now when you reopen FF after shutdown, simply select your folder from your Bookmarks and Open All in Tabs. '''Just like paulbruster said. ''' -
How do i get my music off my pc and onto my mac ?
This is probs the oldest question out there, but how do i get my music off my pc and onto my mac ?
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) and open iTunes. At the prompt to create or choose a library choose the copied iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
