Geting a skype online number

I would like to get a cordless skype phone but I dont know how it works for getting my phone number after. Preferably, I would like to keep my last home phone number. Can I choose my phone number or skype will get one for me? I tried to get a online number but I can't since it is not available in Canada.

A Skype Number is an ordinary number that you can use for receiving calls on Skype from mobiles and landlines, even from people who are not on Skype.
Skype Numbers for German users are usually activated in 14 days. You can check your Skype Number by signing in your account to Skype website and click Skype Number block under Manage features.
When you purchase a Skype Number, we need you to provide us with your details such as contact information and address. In certain countries, including Germany, you also need to provide a proof of residence that is verified by the local authorities. If the verification is successful, we will get in touch with you soon after to confirm the activation of your Skype Number. If the verification is not successful, the activation of the Skype Number can fail.
If you’ve already been charged for your Skype Number and it is not activated within 14 days, you can click the link below to contact Skype Customer Support and one of our support representatives will be happy to help you get a refund for your payment:

My Skype Online Number is not working

Bought a skype online number in UK last week, it works fine for two days then that's it, now it is telling callers " the person you are trying to reach is not available leave a message after the tone". Is this some kind of fraud or what. I tried calling the number while I am sitting in front of the PC sign on, still no show. I am highly disappointed, because the purpose of the number has been defeated. Skype is a bloody joke. May be I should just stick with the free services.

In short, "yes it is some kind of fraud". If you paid with a credit card I suggest you file a dispute with the credit card company to get a refund, because trying to get a refund issued by Skype personnel for a service you paid for that they fail to provide is like pulling teeth. Since the only people you can actually contact are tech support folks in the Philippines who have no access to any of Skype's servers or cash flow, it's actually like trying to pull teeth from someone who doesn't even have any teeth.

No meaning to get skype online number

No meaning to get skype online number, i subscribed for whole year online number, but the online number doesn't work most of the time, I am very upset, disappointed, and my friends are also very upset, angry and worry when they can't find me through the online number i bought, i am too busy to complain the quality, but now I need to voice this BIG BIG PROBLEM. I am using android reception Orange . Skype has to compensate me!!
Also if I am out and call my other country friends from my mobile through Skype, most of the time the sound quality is very very bad, they can't hear my words, like under the water, so what is the point i pay money to Skype !?!?

Trying to get Skype online number. I pick my country and state, but can't get past that.
goes to step #2, and shows loading area codes, but then it goes blank and won't let me pick area code. Already bout unlimitted monthly calling subscription in case that was problem, but still doesn't work. Help!

Is it possible to forward cell phone number to skype online number? If so, what do I need to do to set it up? Also, would my carrier (T-Mobile) charge me minutes for forwarded calls? Thanks.

Maybe. Your phone should have settings to set forwarding for all calls to your T-Mobile number. If you enable that, your T-Mobile phone won't ring anymore, but you could still use your phone to make calls and for sending/receiving SMS or MMS messages.
If you are asking about forwarding calls when the mobile phone is on but you don't answer the phone, instead of those calls going to a T-Mobile voicemail system, you *may* be able to change that. T-Mobile doesn't let you do that on a prepaid phone, and that appears to be the same if you use some other prepaid services that ride on T-Mobile's network like Straight Talk. It may be possible on a postpaid plan (one where you get a monthly invoice to pay).
As for what T-Mobile would charge, you'd have to check on your plan or contact T-Mobile. Some plans have unlimited calling that includes call-forwarding, others only provide for a certain number of minutes for call-forwarded calls a month, and then there are some "plans" that make you pay for anything that is call-forwarded from your T-Mobile number. The T-Mobile web site may be able to help answer that, or a call to their customer service number will need to be made.

Freetalk Office Phone & Skype Online Number

When reviewing the product description for the Freetalk Office Phone, it was unclear to me whether or not the phone will work with your Skype Online Number. For example, if someone calls my online number then will the Freetalk Office Phone ring?? Also if I call someone from the Freetalk Office Phone then will they see my Skype Online Number on the caller ID?

Hi, If you buy a Skype phone and an online number anyone who calls it either from a landline, mobile or Skype ID, the phone will ring. If you are signed on on another device be it a computer or IPhone app all devices will ring. As long as the Skype phone is switched on and has Internet connection it will be online 24 x 7. Transfer expired skype online number

Hi , my skype online number will expires at the end of this month and I want to transfer/assign the number into another skype account.
From what I understood here, its not possible to transfer online number from one account to another and I will have to wait until it expires then I can buy it again using my other skype account.
My question is : Should I wait until the online number subscription expires then buy it again through my other Skype account or is there away around this situation ?
And how can I buy it again using my other Skype account without waiting for 90 days after the number expire/deactivate which is the period of time needed for the number to go back again to the available Skype online numbers pool .

you cannot transfer a Skype Number from one account to another . . . period
when the number expires it is held for you for 90 days in case you wish to reactivate it -- if an when you reactivate it during this period it will still be associated with the original Skype Name
if the 90 days expires before you reactivate the number, then the number will be made available to ANYONE that happens to choose it (and that almost certainly WON'T be you)

Hello, I am a U.S. citizen but will be living in France for four months. I need to be able to effectively be in touch with business and family back in the U.S.
What I'm planning on doing is purchasing a prepaid SIM from Orange or another French carrier. Incoming calls from French numbers are free, so I was wondering if Skype would be able to fill in the gaps. If I were to get a U.S. Skype online number, is there a way where I could forward the calls directly to my French prepaid number?

forwarding your US Skype Number to a French mobile number will require you to have adequate Skype Credit (or possibly a subscription) to cover the cost of the forwarded calls

I'm glad you took a moment to read through the legal stuff, and found that point. Skype does claim ownership over the Online Numbers it offers. In practice, for most countries, there should be no need to worry about Skype making changes to your number.
It is possible that the number could be changed in the future, if something in the country or area where your number is changes - i.e., changes in area/city codes. If the changes are imposed upon Skype by its partner providing the Online Number in that country, or by local/national regulations in that area, Skype would have no choice but to make changes to numbers. In the past, numbers have been cancelled when Skype and the local company providing the Online Number service to Skype have ended their business relationship. This could happen again in the future for numbers in other countries. Anything is possible, but how likely this is may be minimal.
