  • IOS 7, safari and no recent entries in address bar for recently visited websites

    Hallo,
    I have an ipad mini with ios 7 and when using safari and its address and search bar, entring the first few letters of a previously visited website does not give me the option to select that address to minimise data entry.
    What can i do?
    Ps: how come, the ipad, when set to english it automatically corrects english words to german when using english words? I guess i have to disable the auto correct option, which works, but even with check spelling enabled, it just underlines those words in english it cannot seem to understand, but i get no selections to choose from anymore.
    I guess i cannot add ascreenshot from my ipad when using the ipad to create that post. Wonderful.

    Even though HISTORY is enabled in the Settings, not even the History "window" does show anything I have surfed a minute or a day ago.
    Probably just a bug no one cares to iron out. Apple at its finest. Is there a "We are ****** at Apple" website out there I could join?

  • Often I get the following message when visiting website. It seems to happen randomly and if I try enough times I eventaully get through to the site. The error message is: Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files/Mozilla Firefox/chrome/e

    When this occurs the browser tends to hang for a few seconds and no other tabs can be selected. I have tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling. I have the latest version of firefox (3.6.3)
    == URL of affected sites ==
    http:// - all sites

    In FF4, Lovefx4 has posted another solution here: [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/801219 https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/801219].
    # In the address bar, type "about:config", without the quotes
    # Press the enter key
    # In the filter window, type "Keyword.url", without the quotes
    # Double click on the "Value" field, and type in "http://www.google.com/search?q=", without the quotes
    Done!

  • How do I get the location bar drop-down list to show the most recently visited page at the top? I have no idea how it's deciding what to display.

    In IE when you show the drop-down list from the location bar, it show you all of your most recently visited pages in descending order with the most recent at the top. Firefox is showing me a list that I have no idea where it's getting the pages from or how it's ordering them. It doesn't update the pages or the order when I go to a new page. I have recently switched from IE to Firefox and cannot figure out how to get Firefox to do this; very annoying.

    That drop down list doesn't show recently visited pages, but shows list list of most visited sites sorted by what the Mozilla devs call frecency (frequency and recency) and is based on bonus points. It is not possible to have much influence on what shows on that list.
    If you want a list of recently visited sites then you can use a smart bookmark e.g. on the Bookmarks Toolbar with the location set to this smart folder.<br />
    Name: <b>Recently Visited</b><br />
    Location: <b>place:queryType=0&sort=4&maxResults=30</b><br />
    You need to close and restart Firefox to make that folder work as intended.

  • How can I turn off Recently Websites when opening new Safari window? After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed.

    How can I turn off Recently Visited Websites when opening new Safari window?
    After tapping on the two overlapping boxes on the bottom right of Safari, a new blank window appears with Favorites, but now in iOS 8, recently viewed websites are listed. How can I turn this function off? I do NOT want my new Safari windows to have history displayed of previous websites I visited. I only want my Favorites (on the top) to be displayed. Please help.
    Thank you for your time, patience, understanding, kindness, and concern.

    Thanks for replying, but that isn't the answer I am looking for.  Also, there is no + sign, UNLESS you do tap the overlapping boxes.
    Let me try to ask my question a little more clearly:
    When I tap the two overlapping boxes on the lower left (the option to Open New Windows), the new Window that appears will show your Bookmarked FAVORITES. But with my new iPhone 6, and the new iOS 8.0.2, when I tap the two boxes to open a New Window, my Bookmark Favorites show (as they always have and should), but below them, there is a dividing line underneath them, and it says Recently Viewed Websites, and has these websites available to tap.
    So my question is, HOW DO I TURN THESE OPTION OFF?
    *UPDATE  (10.13.14): Since I have asked this question, I no longer see these Recently Viewed Websites under my Bookmarked Favorites in my new Window tabs. So I hope that Apple fixed it, or somehow it was a mistake, or somehow I changed an Option on my iPhone 6 that stopped this for reoccurring.
    Thank you for your help bobseufert! I appreciate your concern, kindness, and the time to try to help. I am grateful.
    Have a blessed day.

  • How do I decrease the number of recently visited web sites?

    After I installed the latest version of firefox, it lists 20 recently visited web sites. I didn't change the settings, though... Moreover, the recently closed tabs appear above the recently visited tabs (which I didn't change, either). Up until now, I haven't found anything to undo this...

    Where do you see those websites?
    If it is in the location bar drop down list then reset the pref browser.urlbar.maxRichResults on the <b>about:config</b> page to the default value.
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    *Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
    *Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
    *Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • No list of recent calls

    Hi,
    I hope somebody can help me.
    I got a new iPhone 5S after the drowning of an iPhone 5 about 1 month ago. I started up the new phone and synchronized with iTunes in order to get all contacts, apps etc.
    But I cannot get a list of recent calls. The phone simply does not show a log history - neither ingoing or outgoing calls are listed. Actually a "-1" (yes, minus 1) shows next to the icon for recent calls at the bottom.
    I am using a Danish set-up, but see what I mean in the image here. It is really odd and just can't make it right. I have tried several hard resets and a fresh start (deleting all information and starting up again, getting the back-up from iTunes). I am so annoyed by this. If I hear the phone ringing but cannot make it I just cannot see who called. It is so frustrating. Both with regards to work but also because I have children in kindergarden and need to be available in case of accidents and illnesses.
    I hope somebody knows something. I have googled and googled and googled but not found the right trick.
    Kind regards,
    Iben

    Thank you for the great information provided.
    Hattersgonnahate, if you are registered as the Account Owner via My Verizon then you would be able to view the past 12 billing statements online. Depending on when your bill cycle ends, you may need to view your June - July billing statement which will list your detailed calling history for that billing period.
    To view your billing statement, go to www.verizonwireless.com > Sign in > Select View Bill below "Bill" > Select the billing period from the drop down box.
    Thank you,

    The drop-down list displays items from your History and/or Bookmarks.
    You can control what shows (or nothing at all): Options > Privacy, "Location Bar" section. Options are:
    *History and Bookmarks
    *History
    *Bookmarks
    *Nothing

  • How can I get the drop down menu on the internet to work, which shows most visited websites? It was working on Firefox, and now doesn't.

    On the internet when using Firefox, the drop down menu on recently visited sites (where you type in web addresses), does not work. How can I get it drop down and show websites that I recently visited, so I can click on them there instead of retyping them every time?

    Make sure that the Location Bar is not set to "Nothing":
    * Firefox (Tools) > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History, Bookmarks, History and Bookmarks
    Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • Drop down menu in Navigation Toolbar that lists frequently visited websites does not work.

    When I click on the down arrow, the address already in the address box is highlighted. A list of up to 10 often visited websites would open up before. I have disabled Hardware acceleration and reinstalled Firefox 21.0.0 with no luck from either. I can go to Bookmarks/bookmarks toolbar/Most visited and see a list there, but would prefer to use the drop down arrow that I used to be able to use. Thanks

  • How to get the list of actie users in the moss website !!

    Hello Everybody,
    I need to get the list of active users with access in the moss websites like following format.
    User name         User mailid       permission
    one of the project manager requested to find list of active users with user accesses in the moss website.
    he wants to modify the user permissions.
    Kindly suggest me how to get the users with permissions.

    Hi,
    I have developed that code to retrieve the users, groups and permissions
    if (orole.Member.PrincipalType.ToString() == "SharePointGroup")
    lvigroup = new ListViewItem();
    lvigroup.Text = orole.Member.LoginName;
    // args.GroupsList.Items.Add(lvigroup);
    DoUpdate1(lvigroup);
    Group group = clientContext.Web.SiteGroups.GetById(orole.Member.Id);
    UserCollection collUser = group.Users;
    clientContext.Load(collUser);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (User oUser in collUser)
    lvigroup = new ListViewItem();
    lvigroup.Text = "";
    lvsigroup = new ListViewItem.ListViewSubItem();
    lvsigroup.Text = oUser.LoginName;
    lvigroup.SubItems.Add(lvsigroup);
    //args.GroupsList.Items.Add(lvigroup);
    DoUpdate1(lvigroup);
    // MessageBox.Show(oUser.LoginName);
    RoleDefinitionBindingCollection roleDefsbindings = null;
    roleDefsbindings = orole.RoleDefinitionBindings;
    clientContext.Load(roleDefsbindings);
    clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
    //permission level
    lvsi = new ListViewItem.ListViewSubItem();
    string permissionsstr = string.Empty;
    for (int i = 0; i < roleDefsbindings.Count; i++)
    if (i == roleDefsbindings.Count - 1)
    permissionsstr = permissionsstr += roleDefsbindings[i].Name;
    else
    permissionsstr = permissionsstr += roleDefsbindings[i].Name + ", ";

  • I'd like to modify how recently visited site are shown: Listed like before rather than thumbnails, and sorted by most recent rather than most frequent. Thanks.

    I did find one thread on creating a custom bookmarks folder that contains the recently visited sites sorted by recency, but I can't figure out how to create it. I'm pretty computer-savvy but the links provided don't go to a clear path on achieving what the topic is about.
    And I found nothing on changing back to the former list view that existed before the recent update that went to thumbnails. Note this is not an issue new browser windows but it is when opening a New Tab -- the new version shows thumbnails, but I'd prefer the list.
    Thanks!

    Firefox (version 13 and higher) shows thumbnails when opening a new tab. If you saw a list view at some point, then that feature was provided by an extension you've installed. Check if the extension in question has been updated for Firefox 13. Setting the new tab page to open ''about:blank'' may also restore the extension's functionality. See the following article for details:
    * [[New Tab Page – show, hide and customize top sites]]
    To create your own smart bookmark folders, you can use the following extension.

  • How do I get a list of the most recent upgraded packages?

    Hi there,
    I want to get a list of the last upgrades using pacman.
    I´ve been looking for a way to do it in the man page, but either I´m blind or there is not such an option.
    I know that I can just do:
    ls --sort time /var/cache/pacman/pkg/|head
    But what if I clean the cache regularly?
    Does the pacman database store the upgrade or installation date for each package? If so, how can I access this data?
    Cheers,
    Edit: I know that "pacman -Qi" gives me the date of installation of individual packages, but what I want is to be able to sort the list of all installed packages by date.

    dolby wrote:/var/log/pacman is the file you want
    Thanks.
    cat /var/log/pacman.log | grep "] upgraded" | tail
    Gives me what I need
    I would prefer if pacman had some option for sorting the queries, but for now, this will do fine.

  • Why don't recently viewed websites show in a different color anymore?

    Yesterday I updated to Firefox 7.0.1, and now my recently viewed websites no longer display in a different color after viewing a website and going back to the original list of websites. I still want to see which ones I have already looked at when researching. Can you tell me how to get this feature back again?

    If you are talking about the color differences between visited and unvisited in the links on your webpages then that that would be affected by any of the following:
    # changing the link colors in your Tools > Options > Content > fonts & colors: "Advanced" for which I have blue for Unvisited and magenta for Unvisited links. I have all three items check-marked "Use system colors:, "Underline links:, and "Allow pages to choose their own colors instead of my selections above".
    # Loss of history data, such as clearing of your browsing history
    #* http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    # Private browsing ("Ctrl+Shift+P") will not mark any links as visited, same would apply to permanent Private Browsing ("Always use private browsing mode") in Tools > Options > Privacy
    #* http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4928/clearcachew.png
    I left out the link on the following and have added it, but since the above answered the question, I'm changing this last part to a footnote.
    None of which would be directly related to updating Firefox, but at such times the localstore.rdf file in you profile may be affected (corrupted), and changes made to your toolbars and options will not stick.

  • Ever since the last update I can't seem to open up the list of ''Recently Closed Windows'', is there anybody that can help me with that?

    Yesterday my Firefox browser was updated without me even noticing it. I closed the only 2 windows that were open, both having a bunch of tabs, because I turned off my PC. Today I opened up Firefox, clicked ''Restore previous session'' which opened up one of these 2 windows. But when I wanted to access the list of ''Recently Closed Windows'' it didn't open. It only shows a small square as if it's there, but it doesn't show anything. I can open up ''Recently Closed Tabs'' but that doesn't help me. I now only have 1 window, but the other one had some important tabs opened in it as well, so I could really use some help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry to hear about this problem and for the delay in getting back to you.
    Firefox stores your open windows and tabs in a file named sessionstore.js in your currently active settings folder. Could you check that folder and back up all of the sessionstore files as the first step.
    Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
    Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
    If you find a file named sessionstore but not sessionstore.js, Windows may be hiding file extensions from you. To work with files as accurately as possible, I suggest unhiding them. This Microsoft support article has the steps: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].
    ''(In Windows 8.1, you should be able to access the Folder Options dialog by tapping the Alt key to show the menu bar, then using the Tools menu. Click to the View menu and scan down for the hidden files/folders option.)''
    Assuming you still have a sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file that would have your pre-update session, check out these threads for different ways to rescue the lost URLs from the sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file:
