Getting a new computer-how to get ITunes purchases onto it

Last year, my laptop with ITunes broke apart and I had to get a new laptop. When I re-installed ITunes and synched my IPOD, all of my purchases were gone and not showing up in my account. In the event I have to buy a new computer in the future, how do I get ITunes on the computer and manage to keep all of my purchases?

When you buy software to download it's VITAL to archive what you download, preferably to a CD/DVD. I write the serial number on the disk for completeness.
That said, you may be able to log on to My Adobe and see if they have a record of your purchase, and it's recent enough to still have a download. If it's the CURRENT version you can just download the demo.

It can depend on which software you need to download.  If you originally purchased the siftware by download, then look in your Adobe account online to see if there are links to download it again.
Alternatively, you can check the following page to see of your software is included in the available downloads:

Had to buy a new computer, how do I transfer all data from my iphone4 to new computer?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - To transfer other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup

  • When you get a new computer how do I put on my iTunes library - I do have it all backed up to the cloud.  I am not a technical person so this is probably easy for someone but not me!  Any help would be much appreciated

Can anyone explain what I need to do.  I am buying a new computer, need to de-authorise my old computer and then put the library on a new windows computer.  I have my library backed up to the cloud for which I pay extra.  I am not at all technical so if anyone could give me idiot instructions I would much appreciate it.  Finding the instructions from apple assume I know basic,s and that confuses me!

  • Had to purchase new computer - how to get itunes to delete old one?

Yesterday after loading some itunes apps and stuff, my whole computer crashed. I got the dreaded BSOD. I ended up purchasing a new laptop today. I have went to itunes it keeps asking if I want to erase this ipod and replace with the library on this computer. I don't want to do that. I wasn't able to save anything from the old computer. It did transfer the songs that were on her ipod to the laptop, but not the games. It also did not transfer a new app I just purchased for her. It shows it in my purchases, but it won't sync over. Please help! I don't know what caused my crash and I don't want to go thru it again!!!

See this previous discussion especially the second post (first reply).

Regarding the games, is the computer authorized for the account that purchased the games? If not they will not transfer. You can always redownload them at no cost. See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
You will end up having to erase the contents of the iPod and replace them with those in Itunes of the new computer though.

  • New computer --- how to get my iPod on it??

I got a new computer and I don't want to risk losing everything I already have in my iPOD. How do I transfer? Sorry, I'm a beginner to all of this!

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. If it is set to sync automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Getting a new computer,, how do i transfer all my library AND apps?

is this an easy task?? i know how to copy my library to an external hard drive? but does this copy include all my apps? and how do i transfer from the ext hd to the new computer?
can someone post a link to instructions??
    thanks

This iLounge article has the best instructions I've seen
    http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/
The apple instructions are very poorly written. They only provide links to other articles and it's difficult to piece it all together, get the big picture, since apple does not explain why they're telling you to do this or that.

  • NEW COMPUTER - HOW TO GET MY SOFTWARE ON THIS ONE

I have just got a new computer as my old one - which had creative suites on - broke. how do I get access to my software on my new computer?

    Hi,
You can do a fresh installation using the installer bits available at the following link/location Download CS5.5 products
For suites, you need to download and copy both .7z and .exe in the same folder. Clicking .exe will extract all relevant installer files. You can then install the suite. Use your existing Serial number when prompted.

  • Getting a New Computer - how do I transfer over quicktime pro?

I'm getting a new mac, and have quicktime pro installed in my current one. I can't find the original .dmg file, but I have the authorization key and purchase receipt. Will simply copying the installed quicktime file over to the new computer and uninstalling it from the old one work? Or do I have to install using the .dmg file?

    Welcome to the forums!
Your new Mac will be running Snow Leopard 10.6.
Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".
Once you have installed Quicktime Player 7 by one of the means mentioned above, just enter your authorization key and you should be good to go!
