Getting a new Mac! (help!)

I have a nice, beefy Dual 1.25 G4 and I plan on buying (not one, but) TWO new Macs sometime in the near future. A new tower, and a laptop.
A general question: what am I going to need to make the swap? ...I have most of my programs and installation disks / serial #s, but there are bound to be a few that I don't have. What can I do there? I'm obviously going from a PowerPC to an Intel mac, and can't just "carbon copy" my system over... what's the closest thing? Everything works just dandy now, and I pretty much just want everything as it is.

You will probably find the article PowerPC vs. Intel interesting, and help you formulate future questions.
As far as moving your "stuff" over, Migration Assistant will do the trick, but there are some things that you need to be careful of. This discussion may help.

My ipod touch 5 is frozen on the lockscreen and i cant do anything except restart it and that doesnt hekp. will getting a new screen help? or is there another, less exspensive way? also, it is not connected to wifi.

Copying files is not a good idea.
The "other Mac" was backed up onto Time Capsule using the Time Machine. On your new Mac you should restore the old user - rather than copy files manually.
This usually happens during the initial setup of the new computer or you can do it later using Migration Assistant.
Please note, it is possible to damage backup file on the Time Capsule when you browse it and copy files manually.

Quick answer, Pages 5.0 no longer does this. Frustrating! If you have Pages 4.3, it can do it.

I currently have an emac that I want to upgrade a little. But don't know if I'm being penny wise and pound foolish. What's your opinion?
Here's what I do. I run an ecommerce website selling art supplies. I will also be using photoshop software. Other than that the usually computer stuff, surfing the net and family photos etc. (and to stop the spinning beach ball of death...lol)

For starters your eMac doesn't have any video mirror-ing capabilities, so you can't use any external monitor with your eMac. So, your stuck with the built-in monitor.
That'll save you some cash.
You can always adds extra HD space, by buying and installing an external FIreWire drive to your eMac.
256 MB of RAM is real low amount to efficiently run OS X.
Some eMac posters have written here that you can install 2 GBs of RAM into your eMac.
The official amount of Max RAM listed by Apple is 1GB of RAM.
Either way OS X likes as much RAM as you can throw at it, so, the more RAM, the speedier your performance.
The cheapest new Mac is a Mac mini at $699.
Figure in the cost of a relatively cheap monitor and the price moves up to between $899 and perhaps $999.
It will be cheaper to upgrade your eMac and see if you experience a performance boost with just increasing the amount of RAM in your eMac.
Installing 2 new sticks of 1 GBs of RAM is a fairly simple job to do in an eMac and you may see improved results from this.
The type of SDRAM you'll need is PC 133, 3.3v unbuffered, 8-byte, non-parity with 168 pins on each RAM stick.
This about the only upgrade really possible in an eMac.
Also, you mention that your OS is OS X 10.4.
You could update your OS system to OS X 10.4.11 by using the software update preference in OS X's preferences pane.
You need to an archive and install and use the preserve user setting option when doing the install

Upgrade or get a new Mac?

Hey all.
I could use some help here. I probably already know what I need to do, but here's what's going on (my apologies if this topic has been addressed elsewhere before):
My iMac--see the model info included at the bottom of my post--has been a trooper, but I think I need a new computer. However, after skimming over the post listings regarding upgrades and the like and looking at some buying guides online, all the info is kind of overwhelming (and I've put off making substantial upgrades and/or getting a new computer mainly for that reason). What is comes down to is: I simply don't know where to begin when it comes to my own computer.
Here are the main issues I currently have with my iMac:
--It gets hot; that is, I think the fan needs replacing.
--I'm on dial-up, and would need an OS upgrade in order to be cable/dsl ready.
--And, b/c I'm on dial-up, I can't enjoy using the web at home like I'd like to. It's tooooo sloooooooow.
--I can't come out of sleep.
--I can't use the "reboot" option anymore. In order for the little green light to come on--indicating the screen is turning on--my computer has to be shut down in order for it to start-up correctly.
--The computer is HEAVY (I blame that huge, build-in monitor) and I don't have a car, so getting things fixed/maintained has always been an issue. (I don't like shelling out $$ for computer house calls.)
--I've tried many ways around it, but when I try sending documents from my computer to friends, they can't read them. And, I cannot read Word documents I receive. (An AppleWorks/Word incompatability?)
There's probably more, but I'm at my work computer for now, so my "problem child" isn't right in front of me.
I know I'm LONG overdue an upgrade, but at this point, it seems that simply getting a new computer might simply be the best way to go, especially with all the new bells and whistles available. I'm a student (returned to it after several years away from it), grad school is probably on the horizon, I won't be getting a car any time soon and need some hand-holding while dealing with computer issues as they arise.
SO, my dilemma is--new computer or upgrade? In the end, I'd probably spend the same amout of money either way, but going "new" seems easier. But, maybe I'm missing something here. I don't require a TON of options--I'm mainly use the internet, e-mail, and word processor (sending and receiving files often, esp. as a student). And, having an iPod at some point might be fun.
Thoughts? If you need me to clarify something, let me know. (Wow, long post ...)

Actually the Blueberry Rev C or D. iMac G3 was sold throughout 1999 and did contain a fan. In Oct 99 the slot loaders arrived and the fan was gone (now that was nice I went for 3 years with two different fanless Macs). It's entirely possible old stock of the Rev D was still on clearance in to early 2000 too.
The Fan is Apple Part (922-3566).

As you're running 8.6 at the moment you'll have a bit of a learning curve when you sit in front of a modern Mac - but you won't regret spending the money one bit.

I just received my Ipad and wondered if I should wait until I get my Mac notebook before I download Itunes onto my Ipad. I currently use a PC and wondered if I download Itunes now will I be able to sync my Ipad with my new Mac notebook I'm getting next month?

This will not prevent you from syncing your iPad with your new Mac. An iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad are not formatted for a Mac or PC.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPad can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer only and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPad first.
You can sync contacts, calendar events, notes, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers - between two Macs, between two PCs, or between a Mac and a PC.
When your get your Mac, you will want to transfer select data from your PC to your Mac that you will need or want to access on your Mac such as documents, photos, and your iTunes library. If your PC is a laptop or notebook, an Apple store can help you with transferring this data from your PC to your Mac.

Getting a new mac and want to use both with iTunes

I looked around the forums and the main site a bit and didn't see anything specific on how to do this, but I am currently using iTunes with my macbook and I have all of my iTunes content on an external hard drive. When my new mac arrives I first want to be able to use it as the primary device for iTunes (still want to keep content on the external drive) and need help on how to set it up (preferably w/o losing any content especially my iPhone backup) and if possible I want to be able to stream iTunes content to the macbook with the same account.

your entire iTunes folder, not just the iTunes music (or media) folder, should be on the external. the iTunes folder contains, among others, the *iTunes library file* - which will be the database both your Macs need to access. click here for information.
And if not, how do I go about moving the documents to the external
just drag & drop them over. next, on one Mac after the other, launch iTunes with the option key pressed. you will see this window
click on +choose library+ and navigate to the +iTunes library file+ (which should be located on the external HD inside the iTunes folder).
As far as using the macbook with iTunes I guess I'm looking for a way to share the music with it after I have setup the new mac to be the main iTunes machine. I know there's the option of Home Sharing in iTunes so is that all I need to do?
