OK few things:
1. If you're planning for Motherboard upgrade, I suggest you buy new more powerful laptop. Cost wise & other issues arising following upgrade, that is the wise thing to do.
2. All the compatible boards available for your laptop model support max 8gb
3. By " more powerful motherboard ", if you meant more powerful processor, the compatible HM86 laden Intel board would support only i7 4702MQ processor, which is not going to give great performance boost compared to your current processor - both are quad core , with only slight increase in turbo boost frequency , with same base frequency.
4. The best thing to do is to replace HDD with SSD. The price is not going to bother you much since you're already ready for board upgrade in the first place.
You can upgrade RAM to 8gb from 4gb, put another 4gb of same configuration and preferably brand in the other slot. Refer manual for these.
Good Luck!

  • How can i get a new motherboard?

I have an iMac and it doesn't work!
My technical advisor said, it needs a new motherboard.
Anyone who knows how can I get one from Apple Store?
(I couldn't see this option on the website)

You cannot order a motherboard or any such parts from Apple. You'll need to take your iMac to an Apple Store or authorized Apple service center for repair. You can search the web for independent parts providers if you want to do the repair yourself, though that will void your warranty should your Mac have any remaining.

  • Need to get a new PSU

Hello. 2 weeks ago I had to get a new motherboard as a result of a surge. I upgraded from an ECS K7AMA to a k7n2-l delta and I could never run the processor up to full speed; the comptuer would restart during games. so I slowed it down; got it stable at 1.73ghz from 2 ghz original. Well; I figured my 300w piece of crap power supply was the root of the problems; also if I'd raise my fsb up anything about 133; the computer wouldn't start, also, some how I'm starting up to a bootblock and need to reinstall bios; but I can't start up on a floppy cauase it freezes, assuming that's from my memory messing up; I think I'm pretty sure the bios can be fixed once I get new memory. So now I"m looking for advice on some PSU's I'm looking at. So I'm looking for about $80; here are some of my choices

  • Following new motherboard and cd/dvd reconnection, when i try to burn a disc from itunes I now get the message "The Registry settings used by itune drivers for importing and burning CD's

Basically we had a new motherboard fitted, we then found our CD/DVD drive had not been reconnected.  After this has been done, when we try to burn a cd from itunes, we get the following message:-
The Registry settings used by itune drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  Reinstall Itunes.
I've removed and reinstalled itunes a few times now and we still have the same issue.  HELP please.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • Missing spring-loaded posts, anyone know where I can get some new ones?

About half a year before intel and macs combined my previous mac mini crashed in which after having already an apple care service check up was designated a "User-caused damage" to the mother board. An bug from who knows where some how got into the computer itself probably since the slots on the bottom of it lead directly to the mother board but either way they plain out told me that the Mac was going to cost me 800 dollars to fix. The computer itself costed only 600 dollars back then so we said to them screw it. I was pretty ****** off and I'm pretty sure anyone else would be considering only the motherboard was screwed up and not the hard-drive, memory, or processor which all together would cost the same for a replacement mother board.
Much later bought a mac mini intel and decided since the mac mini I had was broken that I'd work on it to see if I could ever get it working myself. I bought from Mac-pro.com an mother board from their exclusive stock of mac mini parts and found them to have taken off the heat sink. Searching through the older mac mini the apple care service team had removed the spring-loaded posts from the computer and I'm guessing was examining the processor to see if it over-heated or cracked I'm guessing. Well the older mac mini the one I'm trying to fix with the missing spring-loaded post still had the hard-drive attacked on by the silver heatsink gel but ultimately I need to remove the heatsink and transplant it to the newer motherboard and processor of course with the silver gel but I need the spring-loaded posts to keep the heat sink down.
Is there anyone out there that knows of anyplace at all that has the spring-loaded posts needed to keep the mac mini's heat sink down onto the processor?
I looked all over the internet, searched through ebay and stores, and couldn't find it anywhere.
short description of it is more like a spear type screw that once in locks itself down to the mother board with a flat head and a spring around the shaft. The spring presses against the heat sink and pulls up the mother board to keep the heatsink tightly in place.
Let it be known that this is a restoration project to bring back an old mac mini into working conditions.

  • Where can i buy a new motherboard for my Qosmio?

    Hi there,
My Qosmio experienced a fatal overheat and i'm looking for a new motherboard... I could'nt find any site to order it.

    Hi
All notebook parts can be ordered from local Toshiba ASP (authorized service partner)
Therefore I recommend contacting the ASP in your country to get the compatible board.
But new mobo is very costly so dont know if its worth to replace the mobo in your case

  • New motherboard ATV not showing up in itunes

I have a "new" computer in that the motherboard had to be replaced, along with the hard drive... I can't get my Apple TV to show in devices in itunes. In itunes prefs I have "look for apple tvs" checked. The ATV is connected to my wireless network. Any ideas how I can see my ATV in devices? I'm running OS 10.5.8 and my ATV software is up to date.

    Settings>Computers on AppleTV
The top entry is the sync library - change this and anything on AppleTV will be wiped in preparation for a new sync.
    Lower entries are streaming libraries.
The new motherboard/hard drive will be a 'different itunes library to the one you preiously used hence why AppleTv doesn't show up - you need to set it up for the 'different' computer.
Authorisation is equally as fussy - my MacMini failed so I removed the hard drive to try and deauthorise the computer, but booting from another device it knew it was a differnet machine so i couldn't deauthorise it.

  • [nForce] New motherboard not POSTing/booting (MSI K7N2GM2-ILSR)

You peeps seem like a knowledgeable lot so should be able to help with my problem.
I've just got a new motherboard (MSI K7N2GM2-ILSR) to replace my old one (which was a bit iffy in the USB department). I assembled the new motherboard and all the original components (excluding graphics card as my new motheboard has it built in) into the case and tried booting the machine. The bios and logos and so on came up on the screen but it wouldn't boot from the hard drive (probably some windows problem). I thought that a reinstall of windowsXP would fix it but I needed some data off the drive before I could continue. I then took all the components off the new motherboard (memory/processor/hd) and put them back on the old motherboard (which was working fine). When I hooked it all back up, the machine wouldn't even bring up the POST although it was getting power as the fans were going and the power LED was fine. The screen just never ever kicked in from standby. I took the harddrive to work and managed to get the data off it so returned home to put the components back on the new motherboard ready for the new windows install. Only when I turned it on I got the same problem as that with the original motherboard just tested (i.e. nothing came up on the screen, keyboard lights didn't flicker, had power but nothing resulted from it). Now I know it's not the monitor as I checked it worked with my laptop and I doubt it the graphics output as both the AGP card and the onboard graphics don't fire the monitor up.  And I doubt it's the PSU as it's ran the same processor and RAM on my old Asus motherboard.
So does anyone know if this is a broken processor problem, damaged RAM problem or something else?
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Rod

"...How easy is it to damage a CPU..."  Without propper care, very easy. 1. When inserting it into Mobo's slot, it should go without any force. If you have to push it, most probably you have bended a pin.- 2. Installing HSF: Applying too much strength to fit it, can break it. ( A corner ) 3.- If installing HSF in wrong way ( HSF Low step shoud go over CPU base step ) it will prevent HSF to work properly because only a part of CPU die will make good contact with HSF base. 4.- Installing HSF without using thermal grease (thermal pad ) over CPU die. ( It will let some air between them, so die is isolated and CPU temp will rise too much). 5. If reinstalling HSF., without cleaning it's base and CPU die from all old thermal compound before adding new one. 6. Adding too much thermal compound, even more if it has silver component ( Can cause a short.) But I'm sure there can be some others.

  • Need new motherboard for Satellite Pro C50-A-1E0

My son's Satellite Pro C50-A-1E0 went completely t*ts up. I think it is a common fault and requires a bios reset or something. Anyway I'm thinking a new motherboard will do the trick.
Any help as to which motherboard to get that is compatible and would this actually help?
    Thanks.

    Hi nessie
It is not easy to find new motherboard and believe me it is pretty expensive so you can buy new notebook.
What you can do is to contact nearest Toshiba service provider at first. Explain the situation and ask if they can help you with this. They are also able to obtain new motherboard for you.
Addresses and phone numbers you can find on http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/ASP_SUPPORT/

  • New motherboard, need a new install?

Hi, I have currently archlinux in a pentium 4 2.8 and abit motherboard.
I'm going to change it for a socket 775 m-atx msi motherboard with an intel 5200 processor. Satadisk will be the same one.
My question is if I will need to make a new and clean archlinux installation or it will get the new configuration except xorg.
    Thanks in advance.

So you are changing from 32 bit to 64 bit? Are you likely to move up to 4GB RAM or more at any time in the future? If so you have three choices:
    1. bin the extra RAM
    2. if you stay on a 32 bit system, recompile your kernel
    3. install a 64 bit system and be done with it
I am writing from my brand new 64-bit install (put the new motherboard in this pm )
fwitiw, I've got a separate home partition as well as one for multimedia and a few more for other personal and business stuff. My / is pretty much on its own so using another system is no bother - it looks the same, smells the same, heck, it even tastes the same. One difference I noticed though was that when I click on openoffice I can't even say Gorden Bennett before the whole suite is up! Like shit off a shovel

  • [SOLVED]No sound for user after new motherboard installation

So I installed a new motherboard, and thus a new soundchip. The system boots, it works fine, except for the fact that I just don't have any sound. MPD and mpv/mplayer don't give me any sound. I do, however, get sound from youtube in firefox. When I start a video in VLC, it tells me:

As usual, I try forever for fix it, then finally post a topic on the forums and immediately afterwards I find the error and fix it. I had an old ~/.asoundrc that was pointing to the now obsolete soundcard. Deleted that and now it works.

  • Start-up stumbles with new motherboard, 10.5.5

The motherboard of my MacBook Pro recently died. It came back with a new motherboard and loaded with 10.5.5. Since then, the machine has balked on start-up. Sometimes, I get the tones, then a gray screen, then a freeze. On other occasions, it tries to start, gives up, goes black, and tries it again. It happens over and over. The machine never gets beyond a the apple screen. Eventually, I have to drop the battery to make the cycling stop. And then, there are those times when I get the black "curtain" dropping and a message in several languages that I have to restart. No kidding. I have managed to get it started on several occasions by blowing the P-RAM and cursing a lot. Once It is going, I use Onyx to try and keep it going.

    Welcome to the Apple boards:
Without question I would return the computer to Apple for re-repair.
There could be another bad component, a bad connection or cable. You should not spend any time diagnosing what is most likely a hardware problem that you cannot easily fix anyway and doing so might void the warranty.
Panics are usually caused by bad RAM.
You might unplug and replug your RAM module(s) - the socket may be dirty - but even there be very careful. Beyond the RAM, I don't think there is much for you do to.
