Getting a Picture with InterVideoMSIPVS

Question

I can't figure out how to get a picture using this software.  It keeps saying i'm in Afganistan and whenever I change it it just changes back.  I can't then do an autoscan because the frequencies are different.  What can I do?

I've had similar problems for a couple of weeks. Members of this forum have made a number of suggestions but I have not come across a permanent solution.
My initial install of MSIPVS was flawless. Program started first time, configured it, autoscanned the channels, got picture first time. Unfortunately the picture had a tendency to freeze after a few minutes. Suspecting IRQ conflicts, the card was installed and uninstalled in several PCI slots. I also tried a number of other programs to see if the problem was restricted to MSIPVS. After the last reinstall, the card would no longer allow itself to be configured. It will not allow the input to be changed from antenna to cable nor the location changed from Afghanistan to Canada, where I am located. Subsequently you can't autoscan for channels.  
I noticed that you have another post in the forum that indicated that you were initially having MSIPVS startup problems. You must have resolved that problem and are getting to the configuration stage.
Got some questions to see how similar our problems are.
1. Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the MSIPVS software several times? One of the theories we have is that the uninstall of the MSIPVS software does not clean out all registry MSI entries, and subsequently the reinstall screws up the MSI registry entries. No solution for that problem yet other than somebody suggested going to a previous O/S restore point (if you are running Win XP that is). Others suggested reinstalling the O/S and installing MSIPVS, before other applications.
2. Are you located in Canada? One of the threads suggested that Intervideo programs (WinDvr3, Home Theatre, but not necessarily MSIPVS (which is really WinDvr 2 in sheeps clothing)) don't want to run in Canada and would prefer you pick United States. That doesn't work for me.
3. Have you tried any other programs? When I run WinDvr3, the program does not even see the tuner anymore. I suspect that MSIPVS probably doesn't see the tuner either but confuses the issue by not reporting the true error and just falling back to the default settings. All programs using the WDM drivers do not see the tuner anymore.
4. Have you run DScaler? I read somewhere that the TV @nyhere Master has important information stored in EEPROM that can be corrupted by electrical power supply fluctuations, static electricity from handling. Apparently earlier versions of the DScaler 4.1.9 beta corrupted the EEPROM. In the Dscaler developer mail list there is also some suggestion that the current stable 4.1.8 does the same thing if certain tuners are selected in the configuration. No real solution so far. MSI has so far not made available a utility to check the EEPROM for coruption and reload it. There standard answer is if the card has these symptoms and using the new (six months old) drivers on their web site does not solve the problem, RMA (return) the card. The DScaler guys are working on a utility to fic the EEPROM issue but there are a number of Connexant chips that are affected and each have their own EEPROM content.
