Getting a replacement board in the UK (975x Powerup)

Guys,
I think there is something up with my RAID controller ...
I've been battling for weeks with getting any RAID to work on it ... the lastest is, that after putting in the drivers using the F6 method, during the GUI setup of WinXP, I get
STOP x 000000F4 (0x00000003, xx,xx,xx)
This looks like a RAID hardware failure ... as if I go with an IDE single drive install, I get no problems at all ... no crashes, memory problems, drive problems, X1900 problems or anything ... sweet as ... can play games all day.
I got this board from Dabs about 2 weeks ago to the day ... I bet I have a NIGHTMARE proving this ... also, I don't see any MSI tech support or phone number for the UK.
Any advice/thoughts ?
Very disheartened ... gutted about this board.
S.S.

I am very interested in what you have to say - you might be able to help me solve this problem before I have to send this board back - tomorrow! I really *don't* want to have to send it back, as it's going to take ages to come.
However, I really need you to talk me through it. You say 'read the manual', well, that manual I have is very basic and doesn't actually teach you anything. Yeah, I know how to play with the BIOS and I understand all the basics, but I don't understand why or what you are saying to change ... i'm a novice at these thing.
Perhaps if you could be specific is what you are telling me to try, I could save myself a lot of heartache !
I hope you can help ... many thanks
S.S.

  • Where can I get a replacement battery for the iBook G3 Clamshell M6411, in the UK?

I recently managed to source an Indigo iBook G3 clamshell - the M6411 FireWire model - from eBay.
It's in superb condition, but the battery has had it, and only holds about 5-10 minutes' charge.
Can anyone suggest where I can get a replacement? I guess I just assumed it would be easy, but everywhere I look online they're either sold out or cost a fairly large amount of money - I paid £50 for the laptop, which was a pretty good deal, and had hoped to get a battery for under £30 (as I've bought similar replacement batteries before for other laptops).
Also, are all the G3 Clamshell batteries the same? Or do the different models have different batteries?

Some items come up in a search for Mac parts UK; whether or not they have
an exact part match for any vintage product has not been searched...
Most that I have looked into, show any battery "out of stock" &/or listed "used."
A good electronics shop with an understanding of how these batteries are wired
in their case (and any controller chip circuitry) should be able to install new cells
inside the case; however opening these may present a problem if done forcefully.

In the US, wegenermedia.com, powerbookmedic.com, & others may know of stock.
So far, I'd struck out searching; could be one may need to contact long standing
Apple specialists & those who repair vintage models, to get refurbished batteries.
Perhaps there is a message board or User Group site where one could try & contact
Apple users; of those some may know of a source, or an individual capable of repair
since these battery units have been refurbished before with new rechargeable cells.
Sorry to not be of exact help in this matter.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I have an old iphone 4 that is broken and i would like to get it replaced. i opened the back of the phone and took it apart and now it wont turn on. would i still be able to get it replaced?

I got my phone last may and then i had another upgrade this past december. I completely broke the old iphone 4, but it has more space on it for movies and such so i would like to get it replaced. would i still be able to get it replaced even though it is broken and all the pieces were taken out of it?

No. Once you or any other unauthorized person opens/disassembles the iPhone, Apple will no longer touch it.
    Regards.

  • So my iPhone 4 screen broke, I tried to fix it and then ended up getting a replacement phone from the genius bar.  Long story short, is apple allowed to take my old, broken phone or not?

Essentially a kid offered me $250 to fix and sell my old broken phone.  Also can sell my old glass back to the eBay seller and get my money back.  Is Apple legally allowed to keep my old phone, or is it theres to keep?

Apple is legally entitled to keep your old iPhone if you are taking advantage of their replacement price. That's why they offer a reduced price; they'll take your old iPhone, refurbish it, and use it as a replacement for someone else's failed or broken iPhone. If you want to keep your old iPhone, you will have to purchase a new iPhone at full price.
    Regards.

  • Where can I get a replacement cover for the bottom of my MacBook?

I am looking to replace the plastic cover on the bottom of my MacBook.  The seal has broken and it is beginning to separate from the sides.  Any suggestions?  Can I buy one of these covers from Apple directly?

google is always a good way to check, but before you do that, read this and see if it applies to your model: http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/

  • Can we PLEASE get a separate board for the 2nd Gen iPod touch already????

As if I'm not already having trouble figuring out if people are talking about the new or old one.

Probably a good idea, but since software state probably makes a bigger difference the most important thing is that people fill in their specs in the My Settings page to assists others who post on the same thread.

  • New iphone on O2 I had the phone unlocked, the phone then developed a problem with connecting to wifi. it was sent back under the warranty for a replacement phone. will the new phone be sent back back on O2 or unlocked as I sent it ?

Don't want to have to pay again to have it unlocked.

Then your iPhone was not unlocked legitemately  ,it was hacked to unlock it
You may not get a replacement ,hacking voids the warranty and you can have NO support or help from Apple or on this forum 3
If you do get a replacement it will certainly be locked to O2 as the iPhone status on Apple Activation servers is locked

  • MSI 975x Powerup Edition and ocz2p800r22gk won't boot problem

    Hi Everyone,
I just recently purchased the MSI 975x Powerup Edition v2.1 mb with an e6600 and when I put in the ocz ram the system won't boot the fans startup for a couple of seconds then the system shuts down and then it starts up again. I have been reading the posts and I have updated the bios to 7.1 I also made sure the boot block was written so the whole bios was updated but it just won't boot with this ram. The only way I can make the system boot is with my old Kingmax ddr2 553 ram from my old system. The ram does work in the old system just not the new one.
Other than getting the new ram to work the system has been fine. I know some people are using ocz with the board if you can tell me how you got it to work it would be greatly appreciated.
    Take care,
    Bob

The problem is 100% the OCZ ram.  I had a gigabyte DQ6 motherboard along with an E6600 and OCZ Platinum ram.  It did exactly the same as you describe with the MSI board.  The only way I got it to boot was to buy some cheap DDR2-533 ram to get it to post and then up the voltage on the ram and change the memory settings.  The problem was that when put into dual channel mode or single channel and put under stress (virus scan, play music and compress a file) the system would crash.
Inevitably I returned the motherboard and the memory and got the MSI 975X with Corsair C5 memory.  I am now running stably with no issues.
I'm afraid OCZ has big time compatability issues.  They even stated that they can't check compatability with most motherboards on their support forum.  I would stick with the real big boys of memory being Corsair and Crucial.

  • I have a MBP with service center for last 21 days. The issue is device doesn't boot up. They are replacing part by part logic board, hard disk, wires and still they need more time. No confidence over there service wing. How to get MBP replacement?

I submitted my MBP 2012 model to service center on
    1. August 12: They reinstalled OS. Took it back on 13th evening
    2. August 14: They did some hardware check and reinstalled OS. Took it back on 20th evening
    3. August 21: Stil with service center, they are investigating
    What service they are providing.
    Very bad experience with apple.

    After august 21:
They changed logic borad and told me that HDD is fine.
After few days I called back they told me HDD is faulty.
I do not know rather they do not know what is the issue.
Thats why I want complete replacement of MBP.
    Then they say about policies.
I want to get MBP replaced, as the warranty has expired on 28th.
I do not know whether they can resolve issue or not
The super advisors from apple team are also co-ordinating still it is taking too long.
So my question is I need a repacement, How to get it?

  • Is it a bad idea to get my logitech board replaced without backing it up?

I sent my macbook in to an Apple Store a couple of days ago because my macbook was not recognizing anything that I would plug into the USBs. They called me back and said that they would replace the logitech board and anything else that was wrong with it. Do you think that they might actually get rid of my old hard drive and replace it with a new one and lose all of my stuff? Or is is less likely that they might do it? They told me they won't ship it until Monday so I am willing to drive down to the Apple store tomorrow and ask them if I could do a backup before they ship it.

Having a backup is always a good idea especially if they are going to replace parts of the computer.
You never know when either because of the replacement of a part or an accident that erasure the disk, your data can be corrupted.
So I would back it up if I could.

  • Where can I get a replacement USB port for the Xperia Tablet Z1

Where would I get a replacement USB port component for my Tablet Z - I am OK replacing it myself as I've already stripped the unit down and replaced a broken screen. I looked at the existing part and it doesn't look repairable - looks like the connector "tongue" has come away from the circuit board.
Google hasn't thrown up any good leads. Do Sony sell these parts?
    TIA
    Mike

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
Unfortunately we don't provide this as spare parts for the Xperia Tablet.

After soak test update, I get error messages repeatedly. The majority are "unfortunately, messaging has stopped", but you can replace messaging with "android os", or any other process, as it happens with more than just messaging. I have had numerous people call and ask why I didn't reply to their texts...and I look, but have not received any new texts. YES, I have restarted phone. I have cleared data as well as cache on all apps. I have downloaded the vzw messaging app, which seems silly, since it happens with several different processes and apps, but all to no avail. I am missing texts from my employer, from my family. This did happen, but rarely, before this "soak test". It is now Kitkat version 19.6.3.obake_verizon.en.US. THIS is when I started having problems...like 50 times a day kind of problems! I have seen hundreds of posts all over the internet over the past 3 days. Does no one know how to fix this??? Shouldn't there be a way to revert phone to a pre-update state? and no, hard reset did NOT work!!!! I have been with verizon for well over 15 years, but I have not upgraded my lines and will not in July either. This is ridiculous. It's not like my games aren't working, it is my messaging and "android os"...my lifeline at work!

    kristinaf333,
Oh no, I am sorry to hear your messages are not working since the software update. I greatlly appreciate doing all that troubleshooting to try and get the messaging application back in business. I know how much I rely on my messages so I can understand the urgency to get this resolved. Have you had a resolution ticket opened since you started experiencing issues with your messages? Does this happen with all contacts or just some? Please provide additional information to ensure we get to the bottom of this for you.

  • Will I get a replacement for dust under the screen?...

    Hey everyone!
I've had an iPhone since the 3G came out and I've never had any problems with dust. My 3G got replaced by 02 insurance about 5 months ago and I got a new 3GS 16GB. Since then I noticed the odd little bit of dust appearing under the screen. Most of the time I couldn't see it so I didn't really care but now I've noticed a few larger pieces and they're really annoying.
I understand that I should get a 12 month warranty with this and surely it's not meant to happen so I'd expect a replacement. I've searched around and I seem to get mixed answers. The problem is that I'm currently working in Cologne and there are only 3 Apple Stores in Germany (I can't believe it!) and the nearest one is still over 100 miles away.
What do you recommend? Would Apple do anything like post one (I doubt it?) or am I going to just have to wait until I'm near Frankfurt (or even back in London) and book an appointment there. Even then... what are my chances of getting a replacement?
Thanks in advance everyone! Much appreciated

I doubt they will give you a replacement. I know here in the States you can take your iphone to an Apple store and they can replace the screen and charge you $200 for that. But I find it hard to believe they would replace the screen for free just because there are dust particles under the glass. That's just my opinion.
