Geez, have to go to 10 different things to even get here!!!! I am having a problem with getting a smaller version of firefox every time I open a new window but it is blank, it looks like your web page, I have to close it out to view my page I was opening. I ran a virus scan and there is nothing. I have windows and firefox is my home page, btw when I go to IE I do not have this problem, Seems like when firefox installs a new version something happens,.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
*https://hacks.mozilla.org/2010/09/hardware-acceleration/
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

• Firefox opens a new window every time I click a link. I reset FF and it did not fix the problem.

When I click on any link, the browser opens a new window. I have searched the browser options to fix this and have not found a place to select a different option. I have reset Firefox and checked all of my plugins and have not found anything that seem to be related to my problem. Sometimes, Firefox will work normally for the first few minutes of use and then start opening a window for everything.
By normally, I mean that I click a link and it opens the link in the same tab that I'm browsing. Some links will open in a new tab, depending on the type of link. Mostly, they open in new windows no matter what.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

• Under Windows 7, 64-bit, Firefox intermittently will not open a new window - all I get is a grey screen, with a tiny part of my homepage displayed in the top left corner of the screen.

The problem began after a recent Firefox update. Occasionally, when I try to open a new Firefox window, all I get is a grey screen with a tiny section of my homepage visible in the top left corner of the screen. NOTE: Firefox stores all of these aborted attempts, as, whenever I close it and then re-open it, the first time I open a new window it automatically opens all of the windows that had originally failed to open.
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== on or about June 26, 2010

Got the exact same problem aswell, finally fed up with it now as i just started up firefox and 14 new windows opened because of this bug, luckily my computer can handle them but someone with a slower processor it would have been a nightmare, needs fixing ASAP.
Reverting back to 3.6.3 until this issue is solved. (link for anyone wanting to do the same below)

• Firefox shows wrong page when application opens a new window

Only fails since V4.0.0 installed.
pages that open a new window using window.open(url) sometimes produce a page from cache instead of the page to be loaded. This seems erratic. Often, failure starts after a popup window loads and is closed, then attempts to open a different popup will produce the first page contents (or the default home page) instead of the page requested. Seems as tho there is a bug in FF determination of whether to fetch page from cache or new. Tried setting browser.cache.check_doc_frequency to 1 and while that seemed to help, it did not resolve all the errant behavior.

To restore the original behavior, you could try removing the explicit site-specific permission by deleting the site from this dialog:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content > "Exceptions" button to the right of Block pop-up windows
Does that work?
Also, I don't recognize this part:
At the bottom of the window would be the URL address(es) of the popup page(s), so that if I wanted to access a page, I could simply click on the address and a new tab would open with the new page.
Oh, wait a minute, I just reviewed your "More system details" list again and it appears that you have a custom pop-up handler:
* Extension: Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon 0.7
* Modified setting: privacy.popups.showBrowserMessage: False
So if the above reset doesn't resolve it, you might need to review the add-on's settings in case it has its own list.

• I'm using FF for Mac 3.6.13 and everytime I open a new window or tab the image of what I see is tiny which requires me to click Command + to enlarge it. The actual page is normal size, but its the image of the page that opens tiny.

I'm using FF for Mac 3.6.13 and every time I open a new window or tab the image of what I see is tiny which then requires me to click Command + to enlarge it about 4 or 5 times. The actual page is normal size, but its the image (what I see) of the page that is tiny.

Thanks but Command 0 on a Mac only makes a temporary change to that one page. The link you provided doesn't show how to make a permanent change. Do you know how to permanently change this so I don't have to do it to every new page?
Thank you.

• Safari 8.0.2 updated on the 20Jan2015 and Link from Mail do not open | Advertisement pages opens | Blank page do not open on new window click, etc

Hi!
Safari 8.0.2 was last updated on the 20Jan2015 and is my default browser.
Below listed are issues with Safari after last two updates.
When I click web link from mail, Safari does not open that link. I changed to Chrome browsing & it works.
When I click to open new window from the dock, I get last browsing page of the previous opened window web page, where by my setting is for a bank page for a new safari window. .
Every time I click on the link to open in the same browsing web page, a new tab opens with advertisement web page. How can I stop advertisement pages to open automatically.
Safari does not open first time by one finger single click on the safari icon from dock, need two finger click and then select the preferences.
Thanks, will await your assistance & if required updated version at the soonest.

• Everytime I open a new window I get a pop-up.

I turned on the pop-up blocker. But I am still getting pop-ups every time I open a new tab.

I was having the exact same problems (I'm using Windows XP SP3 and IE 8) and tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions from Adobe.  I also tried the suggestion from Michael, but couldn't find the Cleanup Tool.  Anyway, I ended up uninstalling Adobe Reader 9.3.4 (which is what started all the problems) via Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.  Since I didn't really know anything about the Cleanup Tool or where to find it, I went to http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/ and downloaded Reader 8.2.0.  Problem solved!  I haven't seen this yet, but if I ever get another message prompting me to upgrade to the latest version I will decline.  Hope this helps!

• Everytime I open a new window I get this error: A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://tavgp/content/libs/include.js:595

This has been happening continuously for the last few days. Firefox then becomes unresponsive for 5-10 minutes or crashes. It's a real hassle.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
*https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode

Another possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

• When I open a new tab and type in a URL, a new window opens, rather than the link appearing in the tab. Also, when opening links embedded in pages, these always open in new windows rather than tabs. I want to use tabs!

I was cleaning my keyboard, I wonder if some button got pushed that altered the settings. But when I look at firefox's settings, nothing is obvious.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

• New page not being opened in new window when using a dynamic menu

I have read an earlier post about this but I didn't really see a solution I could implement there. I have a dynamic menu, and I want one item on it to open a new frame. Here is the module code from the template.
{module_menu, version="2", menuId="901683", moduleTemplateGroup="Default"}
It is the main template menu from the Tribeca site template.
I have tried inserting (_blank) into the appropriate target frame, and still it opens in the same window.  I gathered from the previous post that it was a version issue, but as you can see, the code says "version 2"... or am I mis-reading that?
I couldn't find where to make changes. The previous post suggested I look for the CSS on the home template, but I am not using a home template.
Any thoughts?
Chuck

Thanks Liam, it worked. I need a clarification if you can... I don't need all the items in the menu to open in a new window, so under the menu itself, under the individual items, I would set the target frame to "_self" for the items I need to remain in the same window? Or is it an all or none thing?
I really have appreciated the help you've given me.

• Everytime I open a new tab, the firefox window gets smaller and smaller.

Every since I updated my Firefox, I have had issues. I love firefox so I would like to have this fixed please :) Well, everytime I open a new window or tab, the Firefox window gets smaller. Kind of like I hit the button by the close screen button. I have to actually hit that button to minimize the screen and hit it again to maximize it. It is sort of annoying. Is there something I can do?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
See:
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox

• If Firefox is set as the default browser, and any application attempts to open a new window, this fails and I get the error "Firefox is already running..."

Here is what I am running:
Microsoft Windows 7, Service Pack 1, Fully updated to 4/10/2012
Fresh Install of Firefox 11. No add-ons enabled as a result of troubleshooting.
I am a user with administrator rights
UAS is disabled.
To begin, this has been going on Since Firefox 10 or so. A few months now.
I am able to open Firefox. My add-ons worked (ABP, Flashblock, ABP Element Hiding Helper, IETAB2, Downthemall, Greasemonkey, 4chan extension) had no problems. Firefox is set and has been set for the last two years as my default web browser.
However Since approximately Firefox 10 or so, maybe before that, If I have a Firefox session open, and any other application attempts to open a session in a new window, I get the Firefox is already running, but not responding error."
I attempted to follow troubleshooting advice already posted (look for parent.lock files left behind [none present], multiple sessionstore.js files [none present], create a new user profile, attempted to clear out the "read-only" permission in windows 7, however as soon as it is cleared, the read only permission returns.)
As a last resort, I deleted the Firefox folder, the %APPDATA%/Mozilla directory in its entirety, then utilized CCleaner to remove any and all references to Firefox in the windows registry, then did a full re-install, no extensions installed right now.
I checked preferences and have the option "open new windows in a new tab" checked off. The problem persists regardless if this option is checked on or off. This problem persists in or out of safe mode, even with the brand new install.
Test Cases:
All cases:
Firefox is selected as the default browser for windows 7
Case 1: Open a firefox session. Utilize any other program that attempts to open a link to their website in a new browser window or new browser session. Experience "Firefox is already running" error
Case 2: Open a firefox session. Right click on Firefox on the task bar. Select "open in new window". Experience "Firefox is already running" error
Case 3: Open a firefox session. Select the Firefox Menu > New tab > New Window. A new window will actually open.
This is the only method of opening a new window in the same browser session or profile that actually works on my system. Attempting to open a browser session from the task bar "open new window dialog" or opening a new window while a current window/session is running will not open firefox in a new window or a new tab in the current session. The "Firefox is already running, but is not responding" error will occur every time.

Cor-el's suggestion resolved my problem. Apparently the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable was set to 1 on my system variables. I never made it, and really have no idea how it got there, but deleting this variable and restarting firefox has resolved the issue. Thanks Cor-el!
Marking case: Solved
Solution: Verify the MOZ_NO_REMOTE variable is NOT set to 1. This can be achieved by simply deleting this variable.
