Getting a suitable LCD monitor for MacBook

Hi,
There are so many wide screen monitor selling in the market.
May I know which resolution is best suitable for the new macbook 13.3"?
I have been seeing 1440X900(19"), 1366X768(18.5"), 1680X1050(19"), 1600X900(20").
Any recommendation, for the above?

Okie thank you.
I was thinking which one will be closed to the macbook 13.3" screen.
macbook screen recommended 1280X800 for its 13.3 inch screen itself.
Guess I will get one which is closest.
thank you again!

  • LCD Monitor for Video Editing: Resolution Concern

I am trying to select an LCD monitor for my newly built computer. I have zeroed in on the DELL SP2309W, 23" Full HD Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor with Webcam. The optical resolution is Higher than Full HD at 2048 x 1152.
It is my understanding that Higher than HD Resolution is good for multi-tasking (but DVD movies get stretched and therefore the quality of your videos goes down.), but is it good for video editing with Premiere Elements 7 or 8? Should I be looking at monitors with 1920 x 1080 resolution?

If you run in anything other than the LCD's native resolution your graphics card will be resampling the image. This inevitably distorts the image as pixels must be discarded to create the display. Typically this softens the image.

  • External LCD Monitor and MacBook Pro - Bad Experience

    Hi,
I have an LG 22" LCD (W2252TQ) attached to my MacBook Pro. And it is a horrible experience. It buzzes if the brightness is not at 100%. The colors are not like they are on the MacBook Pro LCD.
I am getting the LCD replaced for the 2nd time (the first time was because of a slightly different experience).
I am beginning to wonder if my MacBook Pro just doesn't play well with this particular model of LCD display. I have it connected via the VGA-DVI adapter. Could that be causing my problem? If I go straight to DVI, will it be better?
Anyone have any recommended settings for an LCD monitor (gamma, color, etc.)?
    Thanks.

I have my MBP hooked up to a Viewsonic 22 in. LCD directly with the DVI cable that came with the monitor. No problems so far. Perhaps try a different brand of monitor. I have heard good things about both Viewsonic and Samsung.

  • Recommend anti-glare LCD monitor for MBP 13

Hello, I need a decent quality antiglare type monitor to be the external monitor for graphics work with my MacBook Pro 13 inch unibody. I just tried an HP ZR24w but was not able to get it working. The monitor would light up for one second and my desktop showed, then it would immediately go dark. Apple support could not help, HP support  kept me on hold for 45 min. and then dropped my call.
Unfortunately Apple no longer makes antiglare monitors for its graphics professional community. If they did I would buy an Apple monitor. I am currently using an old Apple Cinema Display but it has a bad case of creeping screen defects and looks terrible.
Is anyone out there sucessfully using an external monitor with MBP that has an antiglare screen, does 1920 x 1200 res and has an IPS LCD?
The usual suspects that people recommend for graphics work in the mid-range are Dell ultra-sharp and HP LP2475w. Since I do less graphics work than I used to I thought the ZR24w would be a good affordable option, however since I could not get it to work I am concerned that none of these other monitors will be compatible either. Buying and returning vis mail order is expensive... would really appreciate hearing what other people are using.
Please let me know what connector you are using. I tried the ZR24w with both DVI and displayPort but neither of these options work for me. Apple tech support was stumped and blamed it on HP.
    Any thoughts?
    TIA!

There should be a anti-glare option on ALL Mac's, however the 13" is certainly the next prime candidate for one given that they rolled out anti-glare for the 17" first, then the 15" next.

  • External Monitor for Macbook Pro (Use for Audio)

    Hey
Well I have a Macbook Pro and am looking to get an extra monitor because I am an Audio Production major and need the space.
I'm looking for about 20-22 inch range and maybe one that swivels so it is horizontal or vertical.
Please let me know what you think.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Be very careful what you buy, and if at all possible test it with the computer before you buy it. A few times. These things just stop detecting external monitors for no reason sometimes, as well as just refusing to ever detect certain monitors.
Maybe someone here has a set-up that's working for them, that's your safest option.

  • External monitor for Macbook Pro MC723

Hi, I'd like to get a cheap (<£200) external monitor for my Macbook Pro MC723 ...
    1. Can I get any make of monitor or does it have to be an Apple?
    2. Which port Macbook Pro port would it connect to?
    3. Will I be able to use the monitor as a dual display, along with the macbook's screen?
    4. Do you have any recommendations?
    Many Thanks.

    1. Pretty much any make. Some monitors are MUCH better than others. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for. There may be other monitors as good as Apple's 27" models, but I've never seen one better.
    2. The Thunderbolt port.
    3. Yes.
    4. Apple Thunderbolt display.

  • External Monitor for MacBook Pro 13"

Hello, I know there has been a number of threads on this topic, but I haven't found my answer yet.
I am looking for a third party external monitor for my 13" MacBook Pro. I read a lot of text on my computer so it is important that the text is sharp. I have tried a couple Samsung monitors so far and the text is far from sharp and in fact it is outright hard on the eyes.
Currently, I am using a 23" Samsung SyncMaster SA550 with a HDMI/MiniDisplay 6" cable, I am using it as the primary display with my laptop closed and the resolution is set to 1080p. It's almost as though the video card is not powerful enough to drive this monitor - is that possible?
    I have two questions:
    1) Is there anything I can do to get this monitor to display clearer text?
    2) Can anyone recommend a monitor that would display clearer text?
Thanks! Any info would be appreciated!

The only reason I thought of suggesting 1920x1080 was becaue I looked up the specs on your 23" Samsung SyncMaster SA550 and see it only has vga and hdmi input.  I suspect that because it's hdmi input the EDID info tells Displays to add 1080i and 1080p to the resolutions and suppresses the 1920x1080.  It's why I wasn't sure it would be there in the first place.
So have you tried 1080i just to see what kind of results you get?  And to cover all possibilities have you tried using the VGA connection?
It may just be that what you see on this particular monitor is as good as it gets.

  • To use imac 27 late2009 as monitor for macbook pro 13 rethina with thunderbolt cable

when i us a thunderbolt cable from mac book pro rethina to my imac 27 late 2009 nothing happen, even with command F2 i can not use the imac as monitor for the mcbook pro

You have got a problem: your iMac does not detect Thunderbolt cables because it has got Mini DisplayPort instead. However, you can use your iMac as a display for your MacBook Pro.
To do this, you need to get a Mini DisplayPort cable like this one and connect it to your iMac and the MacBook Pro. Then, press Command and F2 keys on your iMac and it will show up as a screen for your MacBook Pro.

  • Buying monitor for macbook

i am buying a monitor for my macbook and was looking to spend aroung £130- £160 for sometihng ner a 20 inch screen, does anyone have any ideas whihc model woud be the best to buy,

Check the resolution capability, you can get a good 1600x1200 20-inch monitor. Or go for the wider screens a little larger. The MacBook can drive up to 1920x1200. I have found the Samsung monitors usually to be a good value, but prices vary all the time, you have to shop around and watch prices. With most new monitors having DVI input, you would need the mini-DVI to DVI adapter for the MacBook. Some can rotate to portrait or landscape mode, the MacBook supports this also.

  • Best external monitor for macbook pro 15" to use for Aperture3

Hi, I have a macbook pro 15" running on Mountain Lion. I would like to buy an exernal monitor to work on Aperture 3. After reading on the net I am still quite confused as what is the best product to fit a good compromise for quality/price/compatibility
My budged is under 600€, so size should not exede 24".
Dell U2413 gets good and bad advise, not sure how it would work with Apple either. Most people talking about it are not on Apple products.
Any of you out there can offer some personal experience on the matter?
    Thank you for your time

  • Best monitor for MacBook?

I want a monitor for my new MacBook but am not going to shell out 1K for apple display with USB 2.0 and that is dated 3 years.  What other options have people had success with? Thanks for your support! Of course, this might be a moot point if Apple gets a new display out in time for the Mac Pro release in December?!

Honestly I would grab an UltraSharp over the Apple display. The Dell's have adjustable stands and way more inputs. I have used the 27" Apple display next to a Planar 24" and the Apple display isn't really all that impressive.
