ok so i dropped my phone and smashed the screen and the touch screen doesn't work anymore, Is there any way i can access my phone to get my contacts iv plugged it to my laptop and its asking me to enter my pass key which obviously i cant do is there anything i can do thanks danny

The difficulty is you have to unencrypt during the restore process, which you cannot do with an Android device.

Have you chacked with your carrier. The message you are getting seems to relate to a carrier issue and not something to do with the phone itself

Photo Stream is not a respository for archiving photos. It is a cloud storage device that will store the last month or last 1000 photos taken by any device on the same Apple ID, and then will "share" those photos with all other devices that have Photo Stream turned on,and that are logged onto the same Apple ID.
iCloud backups will contain all of the photos that were on your camera roll the last time you backed up your device.
If you have photos outside of the Photo Stream parameters, and they are not all on your current camera roll, then you have no way to retrieve them unless you have imported them to the computer you sync with or have uploaded them to some other cloud service like DropBox.

Hello,
1) JSR 75 can provide access to the native address book. Additionally, some device manufacturers provide proprietary APIs that also allow access to the address book. For example, Motorola Iden devices and the v600 series both have phonebook access APIs. But JSR 75 is the standard.
Here is an example of listing the native address books and contacts for a device that supports JSR 75:

2) Sorry. Not all 2.0 devices support JSR 75 or phonebook access for that matter. Go to the developer site of the device manufacturer and read the device specifications. They will tell you which J2ME APIs are supported.
3) Yes. On some devices you can access all the address book information including contacts stored on the SIM card. You will need authorization or a signed midlet in most cases.

The only way someone could have changed it is if they knew your passcode to begin with, or guessed it.
Without a computer, or access to iCloud, there's nothing you can do to remove the passcode. You need a computer to force the phone into recovery mode & restore it, or access to iCloud.com to erase it.

You can use another iPhone (or iPad) to restore it too, or you can login to www.icloud.com (assumng you weer using iCloud) and export your contacts from there.

May I ask have you backed up all of your information on your device? If so then the factory data reset is the best option to regain access to the phone. Can Iphone 4 activity (including internet activity - facebook messages) be monitored by someone if they had access to your phone (like a family member)? How can you check?

I am wonderimng just how safe the iphone 4 is - if someone has access to your phone (say a family member) can they put sometrhing on ur iphone (that isn't jail broken) that tracks your activity - particularly things like messages in facebook (by using the messenger app that you can down load from the app store)? If so is there anyway to tell if it's been done? Everything I read seems to indicate that its not possible to install spyware on an iphone - but strange things happen - including slow response and being logged out of online accounts (ie facebook messenger). I know that one solution would be to restore to factory defaults but when you do this is it ok to restore your phone from back up or should it be rstored like a new phone (especially if the itunes account is a shared account)?
I keep thinking I am just being paranoid but it would be good to get some up to date advice about this.

That's the great thing with ios is it uses a sandbox file system. So installing spyware confines it to its sandbox so it cannot access other file or track anything. Unless you jailbreak at that point there is no more sandbox.

Set up the new phone as a new iPhone (without using your backup), then update it to the latest iOS (7.1.2). Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. Hello, i recently switched from 3gs to 4s. i gave the 3gs to a friend who uses it as primary phone. will my icloud stuff get pushed to his phone? (he uses as just a regular phone, but i signed onto his phone with my apple id once)???

will my photos, music, etc get pushed to his phone if his photostream, icloud is on etc?
how can i check which devices have access to my icloud???

before i gave the phone, i did 'restore to factory setting' and put his new sim card into the phone.
but then i logged into the phone with my apple ID (he is simply using the phone as a regular phone without 3g, so he only uses it on wi-fi) to download apps...
so he is using it as a 'new phone' with all his contacts etc on it, is there any way he could have still accessed my stuff while my icloud was activated?
i should say that it is not technically a 'friend' but i sold the phone to him, so i'm curious what information he had access to while i had my icloud activated...
