Getting AccessControlException when running Applet in AppletViewer
I'm using Java 1.5, and NetBeans 4.1, when I try to run my applet in the AppletViewer in NetBeans I get the error message 'AccessControlException', which comes from me trying to access a text file on the local system to read from. I have checked the applet policy which reads,
grant {
permission java.security.AllPermission;
Which looks fine to me? So I don't understand why I haven't got permission to access files??
Thanks Sir!
But it is also not working i.e "The IE gives a memory error and then terminate...."
then from a sun tutorial exampl i used following HTML file which is working fine.

Problem while I try to run Applet using Appletviewer
Hi,
I have developed a simple Applet using JDeveloper 1.1, here I am
using a Dataset, a QueryDataSet and a grid.
When I run the Applet within JDeveloper it runs just fine, but
when I use the Appletviewer, the Applet starts of well but gives
the following error:
"borland.jbcl.dataset.DataSetException: Operation cannot be
performed on an open DataSet"
Please let me know what I am doing wrong.
Thanks,
Prag.
nullThis may be a problem with JDK inconsistency problem. Make sure
your appletviewer IS Java 1.1 compliant. Also, have you properly
deployed your applet to a jar file?
Here are the instructions for deploying a database applet:
Hope this helps..
-Chris
Task 7: Deployment
The following requirements apply when deploying a database
applet:
The database must be on the same server as the Web Server (or use
a connection manager).
Must have a JDK 1.1 compatible browser, such as Netscape 4.0.4 or
Internet Explorer 4.0.
Creating the Java Archive (.jar) file
Select File|New
Click the Deployment tab
Double-click the Simple Archive Profile icon.
The Simple Archive Profile wizard (SAP wizard) is displayed.
On the Welcome page, click Next.
On page one of the SAP wizard, enter or browse to set the Archive
Path. Set the name of the jar to db_applet.jar.
Click Next.
Page two displays the names of all files in your project. Accept
the default value of deploying all of the files and click Next.
On page three, Dependencies, shift-click each item in the list
"List items that you do not want to appear in the archive to
select them all.
Click Remove.
In most cases, developers prefer to ship only their own classes
in the .jar file, with separate .jars that store common files
used by all of their Java programs. For the sake of simplicity,
you are going to create a .jar file that includes all of the
classes necessary to run your applet. By removing all of the
libraries, you indicate that no classes should be omitted from
your deployed .jar file.
Click Finish.
Deploying the applet
Using a file manager, copy the db_applet.jar file you have just
created to the Web Server.
Copy the tutorial.EmpApplet.html file to the same directory as
your .jar file.
The tutorial.EmpApplet.html file can be found in the project
directory (by default, the \myprojects directory under the
JDeveloper root directory) or you can extract the file from the
.jar using any PK-ZIP compatible file compression utility.
Using any text editor, modify the <APPLET> tag in the
tutorial.EmpApplet.html file to include an ARCHIVE tag that
references your .jar file. Your <APPLET> tag should include this
information:
<APPLET CODEBASE = "." CODE = "tutorial.EmpApplet.class"
NAME = "TestApplet" WIDTH = 400 HEIGHT = 300 HSPACE
= 0 VSPACE = 0 ALIGN = middle ARCHIVE =
"db_applet.jar">
To test the applet, open the tutorial.EmpApplet.html file through
a web server using a Java 1.1 enabled browser.
Congratulations! You have completed your first database applet.
You created a program that queries data from Oracle tables,
displays the data in data-aware controls, allows for viewing and
editing, displays status messages to a StatusBar, and includes a
NavigatorControl component.

Hello All,
I searched quite a number of forums before posting and all that I have come to know is that some have mentioned it to be related to COM. I do not have experience dealing with COM and no idea how I can sort this out. I hope someone can provide guidance on
these:
Question 1: Server (2008 R2 Standard) is having 4 websites. Default - Running, WS2 - Stopped, WS3 - Running and WS4 - Running. When I run the command "invoke-command -computername Server1 -Credential domain\User -ScriptBlock
{import-module 'webAdministration'; get-website}"
I get this output and then an error:

Command
What I have been able to figure out is that it returns complete data for the Default Website and then throws the error. Tried the same command on another server running 2 websites (both in started state) and same results :(
Question 2: When the same command "Get-Website" is run locally on the server then only 5 columns show by default; Name, ID, State, Physical Path & Bindings. Why then the command when run remotely returns slightly
more data?
PS: I have Win7 x64 on my desktop. Tried the commands from x86 as well as x64 shells and same results.Hi Yan,
When I use Enter-PSSession, it works in the same manner as if the command is run locally. Hence the same output as local.
I am not sure of the exact way to use [Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFile('C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll')
I tried this and get an error:
invoke-command -Session $session -ScriptBlock invoke-command -Session $session -ScriptBlock {[Reflection.Assembly]::LoadFile('C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\Microsoft.Web.Administration.dll'); get-website}

Can I set JVM memory size when running applets?
Hi,
I have downloaded an applet that renders panoramic images and
I have a problem with Java memory. I remember that default maximum
size that applet can use is 70MB, and the problem is 70MB is
not enough when rendering big images. It is OK when I add
"-Xmx -Xms" parameters in the Java Control but I cannot tell
everyone who wants to see my images to go control panel, add
parameters etc..
So my question is...
Is it possible add "-Xmx -Xms" parameters inside the applet file
so that these parameters run automatically when executing applet?
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Load oracle jdbc driver error when run applet via the web
Hi All,
I have built an applet which connect to database via jdbc thin driver. It works fine when I run it through the applet viewer, but got a problem when run it through the web.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver
I am using jdev9i 9.0.4 and jdk 1.4.2. The jdbc version is 9.0.1
I have added both the classes12.zip and ojdbc14.zip in the class path and also pack them together with my applet class. Here is the code
public class MyApplet extends Applet
implements Runnable
public void start()
if(theThread == null)
theThread = new Thread(this);
theThread.start();
Retrieve R = new Retrieve();
this.MyMap = R.retrieveDesc();
public class Retrieve
public Retrieve()
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@babyruth.wvu.edu:1703:devdw", User, Password);
conn.setAutoCommit(true);
connectStatus = true;
public HashMap retrieveDesc()
return map;
I have also built one HTML page NewApplet like this
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE> My New Applet</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<APPLET CODE="MyApplet.class" CODEBASE="menu" ARCHIVE="MyApplet.zip" WIDTH=300 HEIGHT=485>
<!--General Settings-->
<param name="bgcolor" value="255,255,255">
</HTML>
Any advice is highly appreciated
MeiSir,
Well you haven't "packed" them correctly. Why don't you just add the driver bits to the soucebase tag? or something like that anyway...
Sincerely,
Slappy -
Getting error when running process flows in oem
Hi all,
I'm trying to run a process flow in oem (using oem_exec_template.sql script), but it keeps failing with error "nms-1013: sqlplus does not exist". I tried running a map too and it failed with same message.
Any idea anyone?
Thanks!
YanetHi,
Looks like you have an obvious code error, invalid cast operation in your code. Do you get this error when running in local emulator.
You can try the following article on how to debug published cloud service, assuming you have VS ultimate.

please..can someone give me some advice? thanks!I got the same error while doing "dp.initialize()"
I fixed this error by chang the the "olap_api.jar class12.jar" to "o4j.jar".
But i can't explain that.
Can anyone tell me why?
By the way , the "olap_api.jar class12.jar" are copy from the %ORACLE_HOME%\10.2.0\db_1\olap\api\lib . -
Global data getting reset when running under IIS?
We have a scenario using IIS with an ASP.NET web service written in VB.NET. When a call to the web service is made, the web service calls a native dll (written in C, compiled using VS2010) using platform invoke, which in turn calls into our product API:
VB.NET web service -> native library (p/invoke) -> native API ....
Web service requests are successfully completed and the system runs without problem for hours. A trace of the native API shows it is being called by multiple processes and multiple threads within those processes.
The main native API dll contains a static global variable used to detect whether it is the first time it has been called and run initialization logic if it is. This dll is itself linked to a second dll that contains a global variable used to detect if it is
the first time it has been called.
After some hours the trace shows that the native API is invoked by an existing process but that the initialization logic is being exercised again, even though the global variable was set to indicate not first time and is never reset. One theory was that
the first process has ended and a new process has started almost instantaneously using the same process ID. However this is not the case as existing thread IDs from the same process are seen to write to the trace again after the first time logic has executed
for the second time, indicating the process has not restarted. The problem occurs regularly.
It is as though the process's global data has been initialized again and malloc'ed memory freed while the processing is still running. Is there any way this is possible when running under IIS?
There is an internal thread which waits on a blocking read of a named pipe (via ReadFile), and when the problem occurs, the ReadFile call ends with ERROR_NO_ACCESS, which appears to indicate the malloc'ed buffer is no longer valid, again implying something
has happened to the memory allocated to the process.Suggestting you asking it on:

AccessControlException when run in IE or Safari, but not Applet Viewer
My applet requires the use of a txt file as input. The txt file need only be read, and is always in the same directory as the class files and the web page the applet's running in. For a while now, there have been no problems with reading the txt file; however, recently, I've been getting a "java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission *insert filename here* read)" error. Furthermore, this error only comes up when I run the applet in Internet Explorer or Safari; when I run it in the applet viewer, it works perfectly. On top of this, when I went to the tutorial suspecting that the problem had something to do with thread management, I noticed that all three of the applets on page http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/threads/index.html of the tutorial generated errors, which may or may not indicate that the problem lies in my browsers; frankly, I'm not sure. Any help that you people can give me would be greatly appreciated!

NoClassDefFound when running applet from a jar
I have a project defined in Oracle JDeveloper 3.2 which runs fine with the appletviewer. However, when I create

The class oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnection is in the JAR, as are the two called classes it claims not to find in these errors:

I would appreciate any help.
TIA.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnectionI can think of a handful of reasons why you are getting that error message. But, let's see your html file, just that portion that deal with the <APPLET>, <OBJECT> and <EMBED> tags. I'm particularly interested in how you specify the jar file(s). Are you doing it this way:
<APPLET CODE="myApp" CODEBASE="." ARCHIVE="myApp.jar,Oracle.jar" WIDTH=100 HEIGHT=100></APPLET>
I am assuming that oracle libraries are in a jar file, are you putting that jar file inside of your jar file -- that would never work. If that's what you did, you must either extract the contents of libraries jar and then jar them together with your class files or keep the jar separate and use a manifest to specify the CLASSPATH.

This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?
