Getting additional computers to connect

I have an airport. My eMac gets a connection and I can get online with it. My iMac shows that it is connected to my network but I can't get my brower to find an address. In other words, it's connected to the airport, but not online! I've tried resetting my modem, unplugging it and the airport but that still doesn't work and I cant' seem to find anything on the support area on the apple web site.

cmonhank, Welcome to the discussion area!
Verify that you have the option to "Distribute IP addresses" enabled.
Verify that you have your cable/DSL modem connected to the WAN port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).

  • ImageUltra Builder 5 - Can't get new computers to connect to repository

Greetings.  I've recently (finally) upgraded from IUB 3 to IUB 5 and while our older PC's connect to the upgraded repository and image just fine, I can't get newer PC's to even grab an IP in the WinPE environment after booting off a disc (for network distribution).
I know this is because I need to figure out how to get the latest NIC drivers (for like a T520) into the repository for IUB 5, but I've followed the instructions in the manual for it and no matter what I try I cannot get them loaded properly.
I found another post in these forums that appeared to address this, but after following the (somewhat muddy) instructions there I still cannot get it working.
So far I'm placing all my drivers for the T520 etc. into \repositoryshare\drvs_7pe\drivers\preboot\drivers AND \repositoryshare\drvs_7pe\wim\drivers\windows\system32.
Note that these drivers worked just great on my IUB 3 boot discs.  So I guess I don't have the \repositoryshare\... folder structure setup correctly (?)
Thanks for the help in advance!

Make sure firmware is updated to the latest version. You can download it here http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/WRT120N.  Just reset and reconfigure the router. That should fix it.

  • How can I get Windows computers to connect to iPhone Personal Hotspot?

I've had two different Windows laptops connect for a short while but once it loses the connection, I can't get it back.

    Hi
    Try
Right click My Compute / Select - Manage / Select - Services and Applications / Double Click - Services.
You should see in this list your mobile device which maybe name "Apple Mobile Device" or "iPhone Mobile Device".
See what it says in "Status" column. If there is nothing in it, right click on it and click "Restart"
Open iTunes and it should be recognised
If the status shows as "Started" come back and we'll try something else

  • I have lost the ability to upload files to a website. I have to transfer files from my computer to a web site and I get an error message "connection was reset" and the file will not upload. I try to transfer pictures and I get the same message.

I have to upload a scanned receipt to a website and I get the error message "connection was reset". I have uploaded these receipt for two years and last week I have had to use another browser to complete this operation. I connect to the website and do the report I must do, but I can no longer upload to this site.

Are you using any additional software for the uploading?
Try using Firefox in [[safe mode]] when you upload. There is no need to make changes when you see the option. Disable all plugins whilst in safe mode. Then try the uploads.
You mention [/questions/921993 elsethread] that it is a work site. Have you contacted your IT department. One possibility is that the site is not recognising Firefox 10.
(One temporary workaround and troubleshhooting test would be to install Firefox3.6.27 [http://portableapps.com/news/2012-02-01_-_firefox_portable_3.6.26_released portable] as an additional browser and try that.)

  • Can't get AE clients to connect to internet-Plz help me!

I've had a home with router, wired mac's and pc's, and apple laptops for years with no problems. I removed old router and installed AE base station. I can connect to the Base Station via internet and wireless, but can't get past it to the net. I'm out of ideas.
My DSL modem from Sprint is a Prestige 660ME-61, with an address of 192.168.2.1. My "test" G5 desktop has an IP address of 192.168.1.23, subnet 255.255.255.0 and Router ip of 192.168.1.254 - as shown in system pref/network/built in ethernet configuration. This works fine with old pbx/router. I tried looking at my PBX/router settings and they use different terminology.
The AE auto setup didn't work, and I noticed it had set an ip address of 10.0.1.1 for the Base Station. I changed that to 192.168.1.x in the manual setup mode of DHCP. That generated starting and ending addresses of 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.200. On the Internet Connection tab, it shows IP address of 192.168.2.2, Router address of 192.168.2.254, and the DNS address from Sprint. With these paramters, I get something like "no connection to the internet" when I try to connect.
It seemed to me that I should set the router to be on the same 192.168.1.x addresses that DHCP is handing out, but when I try to change the Rounter Address to 192.168.1.254, I get a message saying that rounter address is not compatible with the lan address..
I'v worked with computers and networking for a long, long time, but I am at wits end - maybe it was the chemo! I would very much appreciate some very smart person telling me which simple setting to change to make it work! And yes, the DSL modem is plugged into the WAN port on the AE. Some of you might wonder how I'm sending this. The answer is I went back to my pre-AE configuration.
    Thanks in advance!
    Randy

Did you happen to allow enough time for a power recycle when switching the router connected to your DSL modem?
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the DSL/Cable modem, Internet Router, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the DSL/Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the Internet Router; Wait at least 5 minutes.

  • HT4623 My IPad will no longer connect to Itunes store. I get error message "cannot connect to Itunes store".

When I try to connect my IPad to ITunes store, I get a message "cannot connect to ITunes store".

    Hello, Darktowerfan1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple articles that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.
Troubleshoot issues on an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time.
Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
Make sure that you have an active Internet connection. You can check the user guide for your device for help with connecting to the Internet.
Make sure that other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router.
If the issue persists, try troubleshooting your Wi-Fi networks and connections.

  • How do I get my iPad2 to connect to TV using AirPlay?

How do I get my iPad2 to connect to TV using AirPlay?

Thanks for your helpful response. I do have an Apple TV device that is hooked up to my TV & router and is working OK. I can link to iTunes on my main computer and stream photos etc OK. The Apple TV device also links to internet OK.
What I can't get to Apple TV device to do is link to my IPad2. I followed the instructions on using & setting up  Airplay, and found the Airplay symbol OK,. When I tap it it shows my iPad & Apple TV. When I tap on the TV symbol it doesn't show the dialogue box indicated. I can't seem to get the iPad to stream from Photos, and the iPad doesn't show up on the TV under Computers.
Clearly I am doing something wrong, but what?
    Any ideas?

  • Can't get imac's to connect to each other on my home network

Argh! I just got 27" imac and moved my 24" imac downstairs. I was able to get the two computers to connect to each other no problem yesterday. Today, they will no longer connect to each other. I cannot share screen or connect as to get to each other. I have changed no settings OTHER then renaming my hd volume. I tossed my old keychain out and my macbook has no problem connecting to the 24" imac and the 27" imac. Its just the two desktops won't connect.
Firewalls are turned off. File sharing is obviously turned on.
Any idea what happened or what changed?

NO solution, but I have the same problem.
Cannot remember having made ANY changes since last night. But this evening, nothing will make my Air connect to my iMac.
However I have been noticing various problems with MobileMe leading to multiple entries in Notes (on my iPhone) instead of just one... Maybe that made a mess of my Keychain?
    Frustrating...

  • HT4260 I have an AirPort Extreme and a linksys router. What is the best way to get 6-8 wired connections with ac speeds?

I have an AirPort Extreme and a linksys router. What is the best way to get 6-8 wired connections with ac speeds?
    Appreciate your assistance.

The answer depends on whether the AirPort Extreme is your main router....or...the Linksys device is your main router.
In either case, the two devices must connect together using a wired Ethernet connection using CAT5e or CAT6 cabling.
Any version of the AirPort Extreme produced within the last 5 years will have Gigabit Ethernet ports. In order to get the same speeds from the Linksys router, it will also need to be Gigabit Ethernet capable.
If you need additional Ethernet ports, you will need to add a Gigabit Ethernet switch to either the AirPort Extreme or Linksys router.
It is assumed that your other devices connecting to the AirPort Extreme and Linksys router will also have Gigabit Ethernet capability.
Not sure why you mention "ac" speeds in your post. This relates to wireless connections, not wired.

  • Can't get older mac to connect to wireless router

I have an older G4 mac, which had an Airport wireless snow type of router. I've currently upgrade to an iMac with an Airport Extreme router. I can't get the old G4 to 'see' the Airport Extreme Network, so I can use the other computer to check email and get on the internet. Do I have to load in the same Airport software on both machines? Any help will be appreciated.

On my G4, I have the software installed which I used when setting up my other wireless router, the snow M8440. Could this be the problem?
Yes. Let's take a step back. You can use any computer to configure your new Airport Extreme, but first be sure you have installed the Airport Utility program from the link I posted above. The earlier version of Airport Utility you used for your Snow Airport doesn't have the necessary features to configure your new Airport Extreme.
The only reason to keep the old Airport Utility program would be to configure your old Snow Airport Base Station, which you're not using any more. So put it aside.
Since you're having trouble getting your G4 to connect at all, it makes sense to use your new iMac to configure your new AirPort Extreme. So let's use it for now.
The ability to use the dual band feature of the new Extreme is described starting on page 20 of the following: Apple Airport Networks (early 2009). The document is very lengthy but don't let that bother you - Apple's Airport base stations are extremely versatile and the manual gets very detailed, but most of it won't concern you.
I made a wireless network named Airport Extreme on my iMac.
The way you worded this concerned me, so at the risk of sounding Presidential, "let me be clear"
Technically, you don't want to create a wireless network on your iMac - the wireless network with which you want to connect is created by your Extreme, and you use Airport Utility to make that happen.
Your Airport icons on all your computers should look like one of these:
    If it looks like this:
then you have created a "computer to computer network". You don't want that.
Next: the passage of the Apple Airport Networks manual above also describes how to set up your Airport Network's wireless security...
I click on the Airport Extreme, the next window comes up with Wireless Security: WEP password. I type in my password I used to set up the Airport Extreme network, and get the following error message: There was an error joining the Airport network "Airport Extreme". ...
I advocate using no security at first, to eliminate one roadblock when first configuring a network. After everything works, set up WPA or WPA2 Personal. I'm reasonably sure your G4 supports it. The older WEP protocol is no longer considered secure - it amounts to "feel-good" security.
I trust this gets things pointed in the right direction. If you're still stuck write back and we'll get you un-stuck. Your G4 will work with your new Extreme.

  • Where do i get the cable to connect Ipad to projector?

Where do I get the cable to connect Ipad2 to digital projector?

It depends on the kind of projector you refer to. If the projector has a VGA connection, you will need this  cable.
If the projector has a HDMI connection, you will need this one.
If you can choose, I would take the HDMI one, since it supports charging your device and playing at the same time. HDMI also carries sound, so you don't need an extra audio cable.
You will need an additional HDMI-male to HDMI-male or VGA-male to VGA-male cable to connect the apple cable (linked above) to your projector.
