Getting "Adobe RoboHelp 8 has encountered a problem..." error.  Cannot open project

Windows XP /  RH8 / RoboSource Control 3.1
Tried to open a project that I have not accessed for while.   After clicking Yes or No to the "Get latest..." queston I get the error  "Adobe RoboHelp 8 has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have tried repeatedly with the same results.  Forum search finds several results but see nothing that matches this.
I'm thinking there may be a project file to delete that may allow me to get the project open but thought I should ask first.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Joe

Deleting the CPD file allowed me to open the project in RH

  • Getting "adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close

On Windows XP service pack 3. Adobe Reader X
Get "Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close." . I have uninstalled adibe and reinstalled it and problem came back within 2 weeks after working for a short time.

    Try the following:
    Uninstall Adobe Reader X
    Reboot your computer
    Delete directory C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0
Download the EXE or the MSI installer from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/ and execute e.g. either of the following files:
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.exe
    AdbeRdr1010_en_US.msi
    Good luck!

  • Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I have been using Audition 2.0 on this computer for quite some time and suddenly now when I open it, I get the cryptic error dialogue:
"Adobe Audition has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.  If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.  For more information about this error, click here."
When I click for more information, it's something useless like:
AppName: audition.exe    AppVer: 2.0.5306.2    ModName: unknown
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0   Offset: 65726168
Nothing on my computer has changed.  There are no viruses.  I have not added any new audio plug-ins.  I am completely up to date with all critical Windows XP SP3 updates and none have been downloaded and installed recently anyway.
I searched the knowledgebase and found a document that suggesting many things to try.  I tried them all, including running the Windows hard disk "check disk" tool with options to fix file system errors and recover bad sectors. I also defragmented the hard drive.  Lastly, I completely uninstalled Audition, then  manually deleted any remaining files, including registry entries as suggested in another knowledgebase article.
I then re-installed Audition 2.0 and it did exactly the same thing!  This it maddening.  Now it gets even more interesting.  I discovered that if I start up the
Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit that Adobe Audition installed also, then try to launch Audition from the toolkit, IT STARTS CORRECTLY!  I can then close the toolkit and use it like normal.  Weird work-around.
What the heck could possibly be going on?  Anyone have any ideas?  I've attached the error log file that is generated by the error but I doubt it will be of much help.
    Thanks!

stevefoobar2: I may have found a solution for you.
I had the same thing happen to me today. I was using Audition 2 this morning without any problems. But this afternoon, it started giving me the exact same error with no apparent reason. Nothing on my system had changed.
So I uninstalled it and installed Audition 3 in its place. Audition 3 continued to have the same problem that Audition 2 had, so we can assume that this is not something that was changed between versions.
But my attention was brought to the fact that you and I are both running Windows XP SP3 fully up-to-date. So I thought I'd try seeing it from the angle of a problem with Windows instead of Audition, and see if I didn't get a better result -
First, I logged on to Windows as Administrator. This may or may not be required, but you'll probably want to do it just in case (you'll see what I mean later). At this point, Audition still crashed the same way when I opened it, so I moved on to my next troubleshooting strategy -
Instead of opening Audition directly, I right-clicked the Audition icon and selected "Run as..." This may seem odd since I was already logged in as Administrator, but it proved to be the solution in my case.
In the "Run As" diolog, there are two main options: run as current user, or run as another user.
Since I was already logged in as Administrator, I could safely select the first option (run as current user). But here's the catch: selecting the first option allowed me to UNcheck the box underneath that says "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" (see the attached picture)
Audition opened without any problems when I did this.
This makes me think that one of the Windows security features suddenly decided to block something that Audition was trying to do, crashing the program in the process. By turning off this security feature, the problem was solved. And I only had to do it once. Every time afterwards, Audition has opened without any problems when I simply open it from my desktop. Perhaps Windows now remembers not to block Audition in the future.
However, I have not restarted my computer yet, or logged off as Administrator. You may need to tweak this solution if you plan to do either of these things. You may end up having to "Run as" Audition every time you restart your computer or log off. You may even need to select the SECOND option, and run the program as Administrator with the appropriate password.
Anyway, this was the only post I could find on Adobe.com concerning this problem, so I thought I'd post my solution in case it helped someone else.

  • Adobe Acrobat  has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Just recently when I launch Acrobat X after about 10 seconds I get this error, "Adobe Acrobat has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."  I can create PDFs and open PDFs for 10 seconds.  I've done a repair of Acrobat,  I tried a new user account, and  I disbled all my start up items.  I still get the same error  I have no clue what to do.  Any suggestions?
    J.R.

OK Will,  I pressed ctrl + Shift and double clicked on a desktop icon of a file.pdf I had saved there and it opened and is still open.  By not pressing ctrl + Shift the file opens then closes with that error in about10 seconds.
So now, what has that proved to us is the issue?  Doesn't that load Acrobat without all the extensions?
This issue just started a few days ago and all I remember installing on my computer were some Window's updates.

  • Adobe presenter has encountered a problem with this presentation

I dont know what happened but I used Adobe presenter without issue on Friday, 9/21.  On Monday 9/24 it seems there is an issue. When I try to save a powerpoint presentation or use the Presenter ribben I am seeing the same message, Adobe presenter has encountered a problem with this presentation.....
I have unistalled and reinstalled Presenter as well as unistalled and reinstalled Powerpoint. Nothing is working and the error message does not help.  This is also happenign on my coworkers machine.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
Can you tell us the exact version of Presenter please. You will find it in About Dialog as mentioned in above post.
I did not get your previous post. Do you mean you have installed an incorrect version (32/64bit) ? Presenter 32bit is supported on PowerPoint32bit and Presenter 64bit version on PowerPoint 64bit.
Please ensure you are following the above criteria.
Let us know if you need help in identifying it.

  • Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close.

When reading PDF attachments, I get the following:  Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. I have tried to remove Adobe Reader via Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs but that won't work.  I get this:  This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package. I don't know how to do what is being asked.  I have tried to download Adobe Reader again but get this when I do:  Note:  this application already installed.
I have Adobe Reader X (10.0.1) with an update installed on 2/19/2011.  I have Windows XP SP3.
Anyone who can help me get Adobe Reader working correctly again or uninstalling it so I can reinstall.
    Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the input.  Did you remove Adobe Reader 10 first before you downloaded the older version?  If you removed it, how did you do that?  The add/remove programs in control panel won't let me remove it -- it says a patch package can't be opened.

  • How to fix "Adobe RoboHelp 7 has encountered a problem" error?

I am using Adobe RoboHelp 7 to create WebHelp, with Windows XP. I haven't worked on my help project for about 10 days, and suddenly when I try to open the project I get this message: "Adobe RoboHelp 7 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Other help projects DO open, so it's something about this one. I went to the TechNote called "Troubleshoot system errors and freezes in RoboHelp 7 (Windows XP)" and followed its first steps: downloaded all the updates for RoboHelp 7, installed current Windows service packs (except for IE 8, which gave me a problem last time I tried to install it), and deleted temporary files. None of these solved the problem. Now I am defragmenting my disk, but I don't have much hope for that.
Can anyone help? I'm near the end of my project and am under time pressure to make some changes!
    Thank you!

It is very rare for a project not to open after renaming the CPD and when it does, the HHP is the fallback. I cannot recall a project failing to open from the HHP, albeit with some damage.
As Willam says, I think you are going to have to look at the article on my site.
Many files have names based on the project name. Are they all correctly named? What I am getting at is whether a filename has got out of sync.

  • Getting "HPNetworkCommunicator.exe has encountered a problem an needs to close" message

I have an HP Photosmart B210e, product number CN219A.    I am running Windows XP 32 bit and I am using a wireless connection to print. The problem is occuring on an HP Compaq 8510p laptop.
I have been using the printer for several months and it has worked great but about a week ago, I started getting an error message.   The first time I try to use the printer after turning on the computer I get a message saying "HPNetworkCommunicator.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".  I am unable to print from that point forward.  Documents that I attempt to print just sit in the qeue.  However, if I shut the computer down and restart it, the print jobs will print on their own as soon as the computer boots up.  But then if I try to print another document I get the same error message and am unable to print.  Once I get the error message I am unable to use the HP software to check ink levels or communicate with the printer in any way.
I have attempted reinstalling the driver and software 2 times without any success.  I have run the HP print diagnostic utility and it tells me that "everything checks out okay with your printer" and asks me if I want to print a test page.  I try to print the test page and it is unable to print it.
I have the printer installed on another computer running windows 7 and it still works great.
Please let me know how I can fix this problem
I am unaware of any changes made to my computer other than the automatic windows and Mcafee updates.

I have exactly the same problems.  If you com up with an answer before I do please reply here. I'll do the same.

    hi Richard!
iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
the first thing we should check with one of those is a broken quicktime. does your quicktime currently launch? if it doesn't, let's try a careful standalone QT install. see:

  • Error Message:  Adobe Presenter has encountered an unexpected error when working with this pres...

Suddenly, today, three of my colleagues around the US with Presenter 7 licenses can no longer save PowerPoint files or work with Presenter.  All of us successfully created courses last week.
We all get the "unexpected error" message telling us to "Try saving your work to a new file and restarting PowerPoint.  If the problem persists, consult the Help menu item..."  We get the message even if all we do is type one word on a slide and try to save the file.
We cannot open the Presenter Help menu... the same error message pops up.
So now we cannot save a PowerPoint file.  We cannot save a Presenter file.  We cannot record or import audio in Presenter.  No matter what we click on the Presenter toolbar, we get the same error message.  Nothing is working.
    Help!

The updater will only get you to 7.0.6. 7.0.7 was a major update, that took Presenter from an AS2 application to an AS3 application. I would recomend that you do the update process for 7.0.7, as it is "required" to use with Connect 8.1 and newer. Presentations published wit 7.0.6 and older should still work though.
The update process for 7.0.7 can be found here: http://helpx.adobe.com/presenter.html
There is a link to download Product Updates, where you can get the installer for 7.0.7.
There is also the instructions for upgrading to 7.0.7 as a stand alone application or as part of a Suite.

  • Analyzer has encountered a problem error

some of our PC's are suddenly reporting an error stating - "analyzer has encountered a prblem and needs to close we are sorry for the inconvenience." The event logs have several zen errors most coming from sources listed as Novell.Zenworks.Logger, Application Error, and Userenv. If we remove the zen agent it seems the problem goes away. • PE7 error (cannot open project):  ..\..\Src\Video\VideoSegment.cpp-55

I am a rookie with PE7 and definitely not very tech-savvy compared to most on this forum, but I came to this site looking for assistance with a PE7 video project I have been working on for the last several weeks and now I'm afraid I have lost.  When I attempt to open the project, I get an error message saying "Premier Elements has encountered an error [..\..\Src\Video\VideoSegment.cpp-55]."  When I click "continue", another error box pops up saying "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the applicant's support team for more information."  When I click "OK", another box pops up and says "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  I have rebooted my computer several times and get this message every time.  Regrettably, I made the rookie mistake of not backing up my project file and now am afraid I will lose my hours of work.  I was about 1-2 hours from being done with this project and was supposed to submit it to an NGO this week.  Can't believe it crashed at this point.  Any ideas on how I might be able to get back into this file so I can recover my work?
The project is a 25 minute documentary using multiple HD video clips, still photos, titles, and mp3 audio.  Below is the information I heard I was supposed to post.  If there is other information needed, please let me know.  Again, I am not well-versed in computer lingo, so if there is other information I need to hunt down, any help on where to look for it, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help.

Concerning your .prel failure PRE will have created backup copies of your .prel in the folder "Adobe Premiere Elements Auto-Save" under your main project folder. Copy these to a temporary folder and see if they open correctly. If they do, I recommend the very first action you take is to export your project to an AVI or HDV format. These are then available to import into any PRE project.
    Some basics:
    Install all Windows updates
Install latest version of QuickTime (v7.6.6 at time of writing)
Install most recent graphics and sound drivers from the manufacturers web sites
    Run Disk Cleanup
    Run Defragmenter
Post back here with the necessary information described here: Got a Problem? How to Get Started
    Some Specifics:
What project preset are you using?
Where are you getting those HD clips from and what format are they (use Gspot linked in the Got a Problem Link)?
Check the reolution of your still photos. Ideally they should match your expected output (or a little larger if you want to pan & zoom). Use a Photo editor (Photoshop Elements is ideal if you have it) to resize.
Convert your MP3 files to WAV 48,000Hz 16bit and import those into the project. Wait and do nothing until conforming finishes (the bar at the bottom right of the screen shows progress).
Your PC is seriously underpowered for HD in PRE (2GB RAM and only dual 1.66GHx processors. With only 2GB RAM and only 1GB free I think it likely that you have several background processes running. Examine what you have and exit (or kill with task manager) as much as you can. Temporarily disable real-time processing of your anti-virus/anti-spyware software.
How many hard disks do you have and how much (defragmented) free space are on them?

You haven't said how are you starting the PSE?  There are many ways, of course, but the two main methods are:
    1) clicking on the desktop icon
    2) Start/Windows Logo >> All Programs > Adobe Photoshop Elements
Now I suggest use the second method and then go into Edit first.  Once you are in Edit, click on the Organizer icon on the top right corner.
This should start the organizer. Hopefully this would fix it forever when you exit from the PSE because the settings are normally saved on exit.

    2.0.4.0?
By way of experiment, try installing the latest version of iTunes for Windows:

That should update your mDNSResponder to version 2.0.5.0 ... with the newer Bonjour componentry in place, do you still get the error when switching on the PC?
If so, is the modver being shown now 2.0.5.0? Or is it still 2.0.4.0?
