Getting Airport to remember wifi password

I have to retype my password every time I need to access my wireless network via Airport. How can I make this automatic? It was automatic, but then I had to reset my wireless router, and it is now no longer automatic.

I'm no expert, but I learned a lot yesterday fixing a problem created by the latest security update. It had been so long since I'd set up my wireless network, which always ran without problems, that I couldn't for the life of me remember HOW I had set up my Powerbook so it remembered my WPA password.
Finally i discovered that this is done by running Airport Setup Utility, and going through the entire process. It is in HERE that you permanently record your WPA password so that the machine automatically submits that password when it detects your local network.
Hope this helps,
Owen

Rephrase your question. Do you mean you keep getting login key chain errors?

  • How can I get Firefox to remember a password?

I was trying to log in to a website but had forgotten my password so I was routed to the security questions. Each time I entered a security question answer, the little Firefox box popped up asking me if I wanted Firefox to remember this "password". Each time I clicked on "Not now" and continued. When I had finally been sent a temporary password, logged into the site and changed the password, I logged out and logged in again. Of course, this time the little box did not pop up offering to remember the password! How do I get Firefox to remember my password?

The website may be using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.

Every time I start iTunes it asks me for my password.  This began after I changed my mac.com password.  Is there a way to get iTunes to remember my password so I don't have to re-enter every time I get into iTunes?

Log into iTunes, view your iTunes account and turn off Ping.

  • IPad cannot remember wifi password

I am the owner of a new iPad and am having trouble getting it to remember my home wifi password (26 character hex password).
Firstly, I have already tried resetting the network settings but this has made no change. Secondly, once the password is entered, there is no option to forget the network. Each and every time I turn off my iPad it switches off the wifi and forgets the password. I have, also, tried toggling the 'ask to join new wifi networks' setting but, again, this has done nothing to resolve the issue.
    Assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • TS1398 iPhone 4 does not connect automatically and does not remember wifi password

After being idle for a while, my iPhone 4 goes off wifi and when I am connecting manully, the phone does not remember the wifi password. I have a iPhone 3 and 5 where this is not a problem. Can this be linkes to the phone company you use? The iPhone 4 has a different phone company than the other phones. Can anyone help please?

    Hi Damien,
      Thanks for your reply.
I had not created 2 separated wireless network. The airport extreme has had create wireless allowing it to be extended and the airport express has had it to extend since day 1.
The only device that does not connect to the airport express when it is far from the airport extreme here is the iPhone 4. I've tested 2 Windows based computers, 2 Macs, 1 Samsung TV and 1 Android phone and they all are able to connect to the airport express when the signal from the airport extreme is weak (please take a look on the screen shots on the original post).
The screenshots of the 2 devices' wireless set up can be found below:
       Airport Extreme
      Airport Express
I have seen other people here on the Apple discussions complaining about the same issue with their iPhone 4 and iPad: would it be a iOs problem?
    Regards

  • How can I get Firefox to remember a password for a site I originally told it not to? The site is not found in the exceptions area of passwords either.

I initially said for Firefox to NOT remember a password for COZI.com, my online calendar site. Now I would like it to, but cannot find a place to make that happen. I checked under TOOLS/OPTIONS/SECURITY/PASSWORDS. The site is not listed under exceptions either. Is there a way to make this happen?

I do not see that form in the page source, so it looks that it the login form gets created via JavaScript and the Firefox Password Manager doesn't work in such cases. Form fill may store the name.

  • Can you manually get iCloud to push wifi passwords to iPhone 5?

My iPhone 5 keeps on dropping 3g when I am out and about. Resetting my network settings seems to solve this but also means that I have lost all my wifi passwords. Is there a way to get iCloud to push those passwords out to my phone again as surely they must all be stored somewhere? Can you manually get iCloud to send

As far as I know they are stored in keychain, make sure you enable it. I still suspect that if you only have iphone and no other devices - it will not work the way you expect and definitely no to manual push. One suggestion that can help you (hopefully). While reset network settings is very effective there is another way that gets overlooked - turning on airplane mode for half a minute. It suppose to turn off all radios on the phone efficiently doing the same (connecting to best available cell on the tower after restart).

  • How to get FF to remember changed passwords?

I deleted my gmail password in the saved passwords for FF, now however FF doesn't ask if I want to save the new password. How can I get FF to remember the new password?

Thanks for your follow-up. I tried it on my new Mac Pro. I
had been getting Flash to play normally. Then, perhaps due to an
update of FF, it stopped and started displaying the QT logo with a
question mark. I reinstalled Flash Player 9 this morning, and
things went back to normal. Then later in the day Flash went back
to the QT logo and ?. I tried more reinstalls of FP 9. Tried
trashing Firefox and working only with Safari. Tried your idea of
upgrading to QT 7.2. No luck. BIG DIFFERENCE: I am trying to use QT
Player, rather than QT Pro. I guess I'll try that next. Will post
    results.

  • How can my web developers get around Firefox remembering a password for my site that needs to be secure?

I'm developing a site that needs to be secure. At the moment on firefox it is remembering a users password and this is very unsecure. I know the user can turn this off but that is not good enough and does not guarantee security of information. I have to get my developers to make it so Firefox cannot remember the password. How do they do it? (They have already added some code which they said would stop major browsers from being able to remember passwords but this didn't work with Firefox). They are probably too proud to go onb a forum and ask for an answer but I'm not!

This forum focuses on end-user support. You can find more web development help on the [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=25 mozillaZine Web Development board]. Separate forum, separate registration. Please note the tips in the Sticky Post at the top of the forum before posting.
That said... Firefox honors the setting autocomplete="off" in the form tag. When this attribute is set, users should not be prompted to save the username/password, and it should not be filled automatically. (Is this what wasn't working??)
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_Turn_Off_Form_Autocompletion
Knowledgeable users can bypass this setting by running a script to strip this attribute. I doubt that very many users would do that, but if people have to log in very frequently, it is more likely to happen. Users also may use add-ons that manage passwords, and those add-ons might not honor the autcomplete="off" setting. I haven't used any such add-ons, so I don't know the situation there.
I'm sure this isn't completely satisfactory but hopefully it helps to some extent.

  • Not remembering WiFi passwords since update

Since i installed the recent update, each time i connect to a regularly used wifi network, I need to retype my passwords. THis is especially the case with eduroam and is extremely frustrating. Prior to the update, I had used eduroam daily for over a year without having to retype my password. Now, I need to do it every time I connect. Please help.

Many thanks for the response, but I cant see any useful information in the response. Let me know if I missed a link.
I can connect perfectly to wifi after typing in the relevant password. My phone now forgets the wifi password to both my work wifi (eduroam) and at home. This means that almost every time i go out of range, I need to retype the password.
I'd really appreciate some help as this is incredibly frustrating.

  • How do I get Firefox to remember a password after having deleted it from the list of remembered passwords accidentally?

I had to change my password for gmail and the password manager didn't ask to remember the new one. Now I have to re-type it each time and am wondering if there's some way to get the password manager to store the new one?

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode.
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"
Some sites like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use autocomplete="off" to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and the password.<br />
If a site uses autocomplete="off" then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute and Firefox will offer to store the name and password.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/User_name_and_password_not_remembered (bookmarklet)

  • How can I get firefox to remember my password?

I removed my user name and password under stored passwords because the password was changed. How can I get it to store the user name and password again because the pop up for it never shows up?

If the name stays the same and you only need to change (update) the stored password then fill the name in the login form and let Firefox fill the wrong password.<br />
You may have to press the Tab key to fill the password field.<br />
If you replace the wrong password with the new password then Firefox should offer to store the new password.<br />
Use the Remember Password bookmarklet on websites that use "autocomplete=off" to prevent Firefox from saving passwords.<br />
You can verify that Firefox has stored the new password: Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"<br />
If that didn't work then remove that name and password in the Password Manager and Firefox should offer to save the new password on the next visit or after reloading the login page.<br />
If you have problems to remember a new password then make sure that you remove all entries from that server (look for an empty name as well) and also check the exceptions to make sure that the site is not listed there.

  • I can't get firefox to remember my passwords and open the site automacially, It did it at first when I installed firefox but now it won't and I have remember passwords checked in the tool

I just reinstalled firefox on my computer and the password feature to remember then worked for all my sites for a couple days and now firefox does not remember my username or password and I have remember password checked in the tool section. What can I do to correct this. Does it have anything to do with me having the setting to not remember any history?

Did you look at this? Should be helpful :)

  • I just downloaded Firefox 4. However, it is not remembering any of my passwords, even if I mark the "Remember me" box. I have to re-enter my usernames and passwords everywhere! How can I get Firefox to remember my passwords again?

    See original question...

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
If the latter happens then you have a problem with cookies that are not kept or the file that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie that you must allow: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Cookies' and the 'Site Preferences'.
Make sure that you not run Firefox in [[Private Browsing]] mode.
In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working.
You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing".
    See [[Private Browsing]] and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing
