Getting album art in Library to iCloud

I have all the artwork for my albums not purchased on iTunes in my library. How can I get iCloud to upload artwork that is not in iTunes, but which is in my library?

  • How do I get album art in library over to Ipod?

I manually manage my IPOD, so no auto-synch when I plug it in. I've got all the album artwork in my library, but can't figure out how to get it over to the actual ipod. I imagine it's simple, but I can't get it. Thanks for any help anyone can provide...

At a guess you'd have to make sure the "Display album artwork on your iPod" option is selected on the music tab, then drag and drop the tracks again. I don't really play with manual mode but iTunes might ignore requests to duplicate existing files so it might be that you have to remove the originals before you can copy in the replacements. The alternative is to switch to automatic sync of selected playlists. That way any changes you make in your library can be automatically reflected to the iPod.

  • ITunes 10.0.7.21 shows a white box instead of artwork for most of my albums.  Many of these are albums I purchased on itunes.  Also when I hit get album art it deleted the artwork it already had form many albums and says it cant find it.

    OS is Windows 7
I updated iTunes the other day and I decided to run "get album art" and instead of finding artwork, it made some of the artwork I already had show up as white squares, or disapear entirely.  The ones that are white squares show up under the get info, but not in itunes.  I did click in view for show al artwork, no luck.  Many of these albums I bought from iTunes.  The ones that the artwork was deleted some albums I can buy on iTunes, but already owned, and iTunes found the artwork before, but now cannot.  Some are albums that I spent many hours finding and adding the artwork myself.  I am very frustrated.  I cannot find the time to manually install artwork for thousands of songs.
My work computer is Windows 8, so I really don't want to hear windows vs OSX argument.  My company won't switch to mac because you like it better, so I just need a solution to my issue.  iTunes it has always worked better for me on my work PC than my macBook, I dont know why, but I don't take two laptops with me when I travel so I have my iTunes library on the PC that has to come with me.  This is the first time an update has screwed things up for me.

Well my first guess was wrong. The line that failed is the one that writes out the image to disk. I've not revisited the code for that script for ages, but it seems I did add in an extra test for missing files a little while later, then forgot to upload the change. I can reproduce the error message if I deliberately rename a file to confuse iTunes so that seems the most likely reason for your problem with the script. I've uploaded a new build of CreateFolderArt which should work better.
See FindTracks for a tool to repair broken links. You should probably get that issue fixed first.
I know what SPSS stands for but that is all I know about it.

  • Get Album Art rant.

I am importing my CDs to Itunes on my new computer. I have it set so it always gets album art. Problem is sometimes it asks what CD version it is, and the options it shows me are the EXCACT same description. If I pick the wrong one, Itunes says it can't find the art or it gives me the totally wrong artwork.
Is there anyway to fix this? Why does'nt someone at Apple check this stuff.

When you are being asked why CD version it is it is asking so that it can match the CD to the metadata in the CDDB, which is a database of track listings. For iTunes to be able to download album art the details for the songs must match what is in the iTunes Store. If the album or artist is not an exact match it will not find the album art.
One thing you can do is to check for the album in the iTunes Store. If you can find it check to make sure the details are the same on the songs in your library. If not you will have to update the details to match before you can manually select Get Album Art from the pop-up menu when you right-click on the song(s).

  • Get Album Art: What Will Happen?

I have a very large iTunes music collection almost all of which album art.
I've always been afraid to use the "Get Album Art" function of iTunes because I assumed it would replace all my existing album art. Two questions:
    1) Is this true?
    2) Is there a way to make it get album art for only a single album rather than for the whole library?

It won't replace the artwork if you already have something there. If you ctrl-click on a song you have an option to get album artwork for that one song. or from the same menu you can go to 'Get Info' and there is an artwork that you can manually place the images into. hope that helps

  • Get album art criteria for download

    Hi,
When I say "Get Album Art" in iTunes, for some albums it doesn't do anything. I check the iTunes store and they have the album but it won't download the artwork. I tried matching the album name to the exact same name but that doesn't solve the problem. I can't see anything else that is listed differently in my details from the iTunes version...
I really want that high quality art from iTunes.
Anyone know what iTunes searches for to get the artwork?
    Thanks in advance.
    Pete

In my experience, the album, artist and song names must exactly match the ones of the iTunes Store.
The song names are less important when you're trying to get artwork for an entire album.
Sometimes I notice some songs in my library that don't have the exact name of the one in the Store, but the artwork does show up in iTunes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Fix/revert the way it gets album art?

I tag all my albums "(01) Debut", "(02) Second Album", etc.. so they're in chronological order.
Anyway, after upgrading to the latest iTunes (I think I had 8.0.1 or something), it no longer gets album art for them, unless I change the album title to "Debut" and "Second Album"
It worked in the last version I had, why did you change it when it worked fine? This always happens with iTunes, each version gets more and more bloated...
Another thing, why does it go A-Z and then 0-9? What on Earth is up with that?
Can you fix it plz? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply Chris.
If I did sort album by year, it wouldn't work on my iPod. As for previously getting artwork with the correct title and then changing it. When adding music to my library, I tag it all first, and then click get album artwork, which always worked fine before. Also, I've done a fresh install of Windows before, reinstalled iTunes and added all my music (tagged with (XX) at the beginning) iTunes would automatically get the artwork. Now it's missing the artwork for 197 albums, so I don't really feel like changing them all manually...I guess I could use an older version of iTunes, but is this likely to be fixed in the future, as I'd rather have an up-to-date version of the programs on my computer.
And I know it's done A-Z, 0-9 for a while now, but I thought while I was posting about this I might aswell ask.
    Thanks again.

  • Getting album art from iTunes Store...

I have an extensive music library on an external HD, but most songs are/were in 'wma' format. On loading iTunes, it spent 36 hours converting these to AAC (m4a) format, but it didn't bring the album art over. Now I have a perfect music collection, doubled in size, which I can view in Windows Media Player (with all the album art) or in iTunes (without any album art).
Unfortunately, we who live in South Africa are not allowed to download album art from the iTunes Store, so I cannot restore the artwork...and every time I try to access the Store from inside iTunes, it bombs out - but I can access the iTunes site on any normal web browser (usually Mozilla).
    So what now???

Sorry, but as you've discovered, you cannot get album art from the iTunes Store without an account, and being a South African resident, there's no way for you to open an account. There are, however, many other ways of getting album art. Just search the web for something like "iTunes album art" and you should find a number of utilities, suggestions for sources and instructions on how to proceed.
    Regards.

  • Cant Get Album Art..

So I go out and get a 15 iTunes card for my account so that I can get Album Art. And this is what I do:
Select all songs, right click and get info, check artwork, press ok. When thats done and goes through, select them all again and go to Advanced > Get Album Artwork then I click Yes or OK. Then it doesnt do anything? What am I doing wrong? Thank you

Ok so I didnt know that you had to add the music to your LIBRARY in order for it to get artwork. Well I did that its all gravy, but when it says getting album artwork x out of 368, does that mean it found 368 albums of artwork or just found it for 368 songs? Thanks
Also one more thing, since I have to have any song go through my library in order to get album artwork, is there anyway to disable iTunes automatically adding songs to my library once their downloaded to my PC?

  • Getting album art for imported music

I imported my wma music when I switched to iTunes. However, only one or two of the imported albums have album art. I enable the automatic album art retrieval tool in store/preferences, but I am still not getting album art on the imported music. I also imported some cd's, which, as I understand it, should get album art automatically; it hasn't happened. It it me? Hope someone can help. Thanks.

Are these items sold in the itunes store? It only fetches artwork on things it sells, so no AC/DC or Beatles artwork will be fetched.
Second, your tags have to exactly match whatever is in the iTS database. For example - a while back iTS had Led Zeppelin's Mothership listed under "Lead Zeppelin", so nobody was getting any artwork for it. They have fixed that one....

  • How do I automatically get album art?

How do I automatically get album art?

If the album is available in the iTunes store you can download it from there. • When I try to "Get Track Names" or "Get Album Art," the wrong info or no info is retrieved

I'm using the latest iTunes and Lion OS.
I have many songs from long ago (not downloaded from iTunes) which have incorrect album names, etc., and I want to clean them up, but when I enter the correct info and select "Get Album Art" or "Get Track Names," either nothing is found or the incorrect information is returned, respectively.
For example, I have a song:
    Artist: James Taylor
    Album: Greatest Hits
    Name: Mexico
It does not have the associated Album Art, nor does it have the rest of the information like Track, Year, etc.  It just has the Track Name, Album Name and Artist Name.  I want to update this to show that it is from the original Album, "Gorilla," so I right-click and select Info, and I fill in the Album Name as "Gorilla." When I right-click and select "Get Album Art," it tells me: "Artwork for "James Taylor - Gorilla" could not be found - though it exists in iTunes. When I right-click and select "Get Track Names," the item is updatd, and now it reads:
    Artist: America
Album: Mellow Rock Hits Of The 70s: Summer Breeze
Name: A Horse With No Name
When I rename everything to "James Taylor," "Mexico," and "Gorilla," and select either "Get Album Art" or "Get Track Names," I get the exact same thing: no album artwork found, and it renames it to America.
What is happening?  What am I doing wrong?  Do I have the wrong expectations of the two right-click options?

I don't think CDDB and iTunes Store is the same.  The CDDB gets information for CDs only (not collections of tracks made from a CD) and uses CD features such as track lengths (exact, which could be modified by a fraction of a second when you make a MP3) track count, etc. It doesn't use any information such as artist, track name. From what Mike Johnson12 was saying it seems that ITMS uses the base tag information to identify the track fully.
I have never used iTunes Store to label a track so I can't provide information there. I have no idea what criteria it uses, but for other id3 tag application and iTunes, by "exact" we mean exact.  Letter case is important, and I have even found that sometimes font can make a difference.
For album artwork I do a Google search, then restrict the finds to images and select the best quality I can find. This is also the biggest in terms of file size so I only attach the image to one file in a track. When playing iTunes on the computer it displays that image for all tracks in that album.

  • Best way to get album art

what is the best program to use for getting album art?

Oooorrrr, if you're referring to getting an album cover into your iTunes (and eventually into your iPod when adding songs)..Amazon or google as was suggested (you can also click on Images when Googling) click on the album cover, drag and drop into the "Drag Album Artwork Here" space of iTunes. You can probably use the same procedure if you have your own images you'd like to add to each album/song...
