Getting An AIFF file onto ITunes

Hey everyone,
ok, so i have read and reread all of the other posts and replies but none seem to really give an answer. I have a pretty large AIFF file on CD, its 1 track at 1:19:00 long. now when I intially tried saving it, only 2 mins of the track would save. And then when i clicked the Convert to AAC in ITunes, nothing at all would happen.
So Question.. How do I get the entire track into Itunes and also have it able to play on Ipod?
I am not as computer savvy as many people here so if someone coul give me a step by step that would be so helpful..
Thank you so much.

Thanks, but that didn't work.  I repaired quick time, still not OK; so I repaired itunes and rebooted.  I still get a blank stare from itunes when I try to import a file, and if I try to drag from the desk top, the itunes libraries get "Blued out" with and arrow that says link, and nothing happens.

  • I can't import mp4 files onto itunes

i tried several times to import my mp4 files onto itunes but failed everytime. how to overcome this?

    1) find an MP3 file on your file system (in Windows Explorer)
    2) Right click on it to get contextual menu
    3) Select Properties
    4) on the General Tab the text "opens with" appears - in your case it'll be windows Media Player
    5) Click Change
    6) Select ITunes
    7) Select Always for this type checkbox
    8) Now try double clicking on an MP3 file
    9) Does it start playing in ITunes?
    10) Check Itunes settings: Edit>Preferences>Advanced
    11) Are the checkboxes Keep Itunes folder organized and Copy to Itunes foler when adding selected? If not - read the manual to understand what those two settings do

You might consider itunes match for moving CDs you've copied into your itunes library if you dont have a way to use home sharing.
iTunes match is an optional service offered by apple that costs about $25 a year.  It scans your music library and if it finds music that is already in apple's itunes catalog it'll automatically "unlock"/"store" these in the cloud for you.  Items that it does not find in the catalog it'll upload and store these in the cloud for you and you can download them on your devices.  See http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/

  • Is it possible to convert to an AIFF file in itunes 10 and beyond, and if so what is the procedure?

Hello.  Is it possible to convert to an AIFF file in itunes 10 and beyond, and if so what is the procedure?
I use FCP7 and often have a sound loop or the like that I need in AIFF format, I normally use itunes to do the conversion, but have heard that version 10 no longer performs this task...?
    Thx for the help!

It still works the same as in past releases.  Go to Edit > Preferences > Import Settings, and set "Import Using" to "AIFF Encoder," and then the option will be available.  Consult this document for details:

  • 24 bit/96kHz AIFF files an iTunes

Hello - can I import 24 bit 96kHz AIFF files into iTunes (with the AUTOMATIC settings in iTunes Import) and have the files played back as 24 bit 96kHz ... or does iTunes do some internal conversion to some other format?

Thank you cconnaker for your helpful reply!
Patrick, I understood (from reading the Benckmark Media wiki) that there was an issue of iTunes truncating 24 bit wordlength to 16 on playback of 96/24. I have no way of measuring this on my system and wanted to ensure that the effort I am going to to rip vinyl will be rewarded by the highest quality of playback in iTunes instead of the recording/playback software I use.
    Helpfully, cconnaker has confirmed this.

  • How do I get my PDF files onto my ipad

I spoke to apple in February and they helped me put ove a hundred PDF files onto my ipad.  When I open acrobat under the heading of documents is where all the files reside. I even made subfolders. Well, I forgot how to do it and called apple again today and they told me with the new ibook update, all pdf files get placed under ibooks. not only that, I cannot make subfolders.  Their only suggestion was to get an account with acrobat and transfer them that way.  I uploaded the files here, but now I cannot figure out how to get them onto my ipad.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Jim

You can either select GoodReader at the bottom of the iPad's apps tab when connected to you computer's iTunes - it should appear as one apps that support file sharing (there is info on file sharing in the manual which can be downloaded from here http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad). Or the app itself supports wifi transfer via you wifi network - just touch the wifi symbol (next to the camera) at the bottom of the app on your iPad, and you should be given an address to use on your computer's browser so as to transfer files to/from the app.

  • Getting a cd book onto itunes from flash drive...

I am having trouble with my cd drive so I used a friend's computer to put a book on cd onto a flash drive.  iTunes will not recognize it.  How can I get the book into my iTunes?

I see.  It just seems that one should be able to get the original (complete) files off of the disc either way.  That way they could be converted at one's leisure.
It doesn't make sense to just get the .cda alone.  That is useless.
Is there a way to get the complete file without converting it?
Either way, thank you for your help.  I appreciate the information.

  • Reloading Files Onto iTunes...

What is the best procedure for reloading all song files and folders onto iTunes? I have attempted doing so using the upload library function and I have also attempted dropping and dragging. Both processes have shown problems in that the songs eventually seem to drop off of the iTunes database. The songs are listed but the connection between the listed song and the file folder where the wave file is stored seems to be lost. I get a prompt that says; iTunes cannot play this song - the original file cannot be found.
What is the best way to upload my entire catalouge to iTunes on my computer?

On your old disk, it should be in the Hard Drive/Users/<<username>>/Music/iTunes folder path. You should be able to just copy those files into your new iTunes folder and have everything as it used to be. But if you've added music since then, you'll have to manually move files and folder contents from the backup to the new. For example, you can probably copy the entire contents of the iTunes Music folder (within the iTunes folder) to the new iTunes Music folder. Just make sure not to overwrite anything until you're sure it's what you want to do. Also, if you Option-drag the files and folders, you will copy them into the new iTunes folder, and that way leave the backup folder intact instead of moving them.

  • I can't import aiff files into itunes as mp3s

I am trying to add some aiff files from an external hard drive to my itunes library. My import settings have mp3 checked under the advanced preferences and I am using the File>add to library command. When the files show up in my itunes library, they are still aiff files. I can then convert them to mp3 under the advanced tab, but I shouldn't have to go through this extra step. Is there a way to change this?

No. If you add MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, AIFF or WAV, iTunes will simply add them to the library.
In order to convert them, you have to do it after you add them to the library.

  • Aiff files into itunes - please help

  • I can't get my movie files onto iMovie

I have my movie on my hard drive, but i have a problem. When i put the disk in my camera, then connnect it to my iMac G5 via USB cable, it asks me if i want to play the video. When i pick yes, it plays perfectly. But then when i try to play it later, or move the files onto iMovie, it says "The file could not be imported: The file “File Name Here” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048" i don't know what is going on. could i have some help.
    Max

Hi Max - just to support what the others have told you:
the Apple chat people are wrong, and should know better! Unfortunately you have the wrong sort of camera if you want to be able to edit your footage and make movies in iMovie. If possible you should sell it and get a miniDV camcorder. Your camera records in MPEG2 format, which is designed more for viewing than for down-stream editing. The sales-pitch surrounding DVD camcorders is over-hyped and misleading.
You may need both of these:
    MPEG StreamClip:

    Apple MPEG2 PlayBack:

  • Computer crashed, how to get music off ipod onto itunes

My computer crashed, I lost everything. Is there a way to get the music I have on my ipod into my itunes? Other than just the purchased music? Thanks for the help!!
    Sunny

    Hello sunnydae,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
There are several ways you can pull the music off your iPod and onto iTunes. The first link below provides step-by-step instructions for the direct method if you have a PC as well as a few third party applications (for both the Mac and PC) if you choose to go that route instead. You can also do a simple Google search for "copy music from iPod to computer" and you should receive a number of sites that can help you out.
Just make sure that when you have your iPod plugged into your computer, that you don't hit "Erase and Sync" before completing the task of copying your music over.
Also, if you have any purchased music, you will probably have to re-authorize your computer by heading to the Store drop down menu and choosing "Authorize computer."

  • How do I get a DVD movie onto iTunes ??

I have been trying to get the DVD on to iTunes but it doesn't work correctly. Any ideas?

If it's a commercial DVD, you have to first break the CSS encryption, which is illegal in many countries so against the forum rules for anyone to tell you how to do here.
If it's a non-commercial DVD, Handbrake is a graet program to convert dvd's to MP4's that will play on the ipad

  • I need to get some video files onto my iphone from a computer that does not have my itunes library on it

Currently I am away from home, and using a computer that does not have my main itunes library on it. I do, however, have some video files on this computer that I would like to place onto my phone for the drive home tomorrow. Unfortunately,  It seems there is no way to do this without completely wiping my iPhone and replacing it with this computers empty library, as the "manage content manually" feature apparently requires me to do this. Is there any way to just add some mp4s to my iphone without erasing all of its data?.

    What kind of computer?
On a Windows PC plugging in your phone will invoke the Autoplay dialog which also gives some options
But only if iTunes is installed on the computer and is paired as a trusted device. Which the OP does not want to do.
