It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. You seem to have tried everything, and you say it's syncing fine on your Dad's iMac, so I assume, you have also done a Disk Diagnostic from an earlier post by tt2 and conclude that your iPod Hardisk is good.
You don't have to use it as a heavy paperweight, the problem is only using your Windows 7 machine for syncing.
In your troubleshooting steps, did you try to use another High-Speed USB 2.0 port, USB controller resource are very scarce, so if you use other USB devices, while syncing your iPod, it may just freeze.
Windows have a bad reputation for device conflict, so better don't connect other USB devices, while syncing, better sync it while disconnected from Internet, stop antivirus just before you go to bed.

A number of users who have chosen to set up iCloud mail manually in the Mail application seem to encounter problems with continually being asked to sign in. This may well be a result of incorrect settings such as not setting 'Apple Token' for authentication under the accounts advanced settings.
A more general approach to remedying such problems would be to turn off Mail in System Preferences/Settings > iCloud, checking the account has been removed from Mail (and deleting it if it hasn't), restarting and then enabling iCloud Mail again from System Preferences/Settings > iCloud. This will ensure the correct settings are used.

Norton is probably the issue. It can really screw things up, that is one reason I never use it. See if you can temporarily disable it and then try the sync and see if that works.

I am trying to update the iPhone 3GS to IOS5. At download i get an error - network timed out. Repeated tried several times. Is there an issue with the Apple Update Server or too much rush ? How do i update my phone using iTunes?

Have Elements 8. We now keep getting Programme error messages. Have tried to reinstall original disc but there's nothing on the disc?

Have old version of Elements 8. Keep getting programme error messages and various functions no longer work. Have tried reloading the disc but for some reason there's no longer anything on the original disc? Really don't want to have to fork out and start again.

I also have Jolly's problem. I found the iMovie 9.0.9 folder and tried to launch the older version of iMove. It would not launch. I removed all of the iMovie preferences from the Preferences folder, removed iMove 10 from the applications folder, and restarted my Mac. iMove 9.0.9 still won't launch and I can't access my videos created with the older version of iMovie. Is there a way to uninstall iMovie 10 and reinstall iMovie 9.0.9?

Well, when you click on "update" and it goes partway through and then says it can't continue that does look somewhat error-like to me. :-). I did do a synch when I first plugged the iPad into my desktop, but had to upgrade iTunes and reboot before upgrading the iPad OS, so everything should be backed up. I hope! I don't know how to check on whether things like my appointments or files that I have created get saved in a synch. Selecting each of my pictures and emailing them to myself is an option, I guess.
I am new to the apple world and the thought of losing six month's worth of stuff is intimidating. If only I knew which things would get lost, I'd be able to work with it.
