Getting an error message when opening a PDF being displayed in FF 24 in Adobe Acrobat XI

I have the very latest versions of FF and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and FF Adobe Acorbat Plugin. When I open a PDF (regardless of size) and view it in FF then click the download button then select the option to open in Adobe Acrobat I get the error stating "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. " If I download the file locally THEN open it usually works fine. This happens to me on both Mac and PC. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Have you reinstalled that plugin (Acrobat), or tried to use Firefox's bulit in PDF reader (PDF.js).

    Hi Simon,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble logging in to ExportPDF via Reader. I've checked your account, and all is well there.
For starters, please make sure that you have the most current version of Reader installed by choosing Help > Check for Updates.
If you're still having trouble logging in via Reader, please try logging in to the web interface at https://cloud.acrobat.com.

  • Error Messages when opening downloaded PDFs

Whenever I try to download a .pdf file I get the following messages when I try to open them:
"There was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading this document (14)". Or I also get......
"There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired"
I have downloaded the latest Adobe reader and I use a Macbook Pro with Lion operating system.
Has anyone else had this problem?
    Thanks
I am now getting a new error message: "There was an error opening this document. The root object is missing or invalid."

It sounds like you might be running into an error related to third-party plug-ins:

  • I get an error message when opening a secure website from a managed account

I get an error message that says that safari can't open a specific website, because it can't establish a secure connection. This is happening on a managed account with parental controls. It seems to only happen for secure sites. How can I fix this?

    Hey daaveed,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. If this is happening to one or all websites you visit, check out the following article that will go over some steps to fix it.
Mac OS: "Unable to establish a secure connection" or "can't verify identity" messages in Web browsers

Be sure that your Date & Time control panel settings are correct.
    Try a different Web browser.
Download the latest versions of your Web browsers.
If you still cannot make a secure connection, notify the contact listed on the affected Web site.

  • I get this error message when opening Firefox "onload error TypeError: TcFfUpdates.getTcPluginsInstance().getNewExtensionsList is not a function"

Each time I open Firefox I get the error message. I have unistalled the product, re-downloaded it and installed it with the same results. Otherwise the browser seems to work well.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • Getting error message when opening a PDF thats in a curriculum

I have a pdf that is in a curriculum, and the window is able to open and the pdf opens for a split second, then the message error=0, error_text=none appears in the window.  See the attached image.
Some background information:  I just revised this content (converted from a word document) and published it into the curriculum.  I am able to successfully open updated link in my Content folder and also from the curriculum (when I am signed in as a admin).
Can anyone help me diagnose the reason I am getting this message and why I cannot open this pdf?  Thanks in advance!

Have you reinstalled that plugin (Acrobat), or tried to use Firefox's bulit in PDF reader (PDF.js).

  • Error message when open a pdf

I am not able to open any pdf.   I have unstalled the reader but the error message still the same and not allowing me to install again.   Please advise how to fix this error.   I am using Windows 7.
install_reader11_en_gtbd_chrd_dn_aaa_aih.exe  contained a virus and was deleted.

When do you get that message, during the download, or during the installation?
Can you post a screenshot of that message?  I am not sure if this is caused by MSE; I have no problems downloading any of these files (running MSE).
It could also possibly be a malware infection of your system that is preventing you from installing software.

  • Firefox crashes when I try to attach a file. Seems related to second problem, receive error messages when opening a pdf in adobe (which I've reinstalled twice)

    Crash report:
    bp-74bcae4f-7091-4121-a809-5d0a12140616 is the crash report.
    I have a Toshiba.
When I open my email (gmail, school email) and try to attach a file, firefox immediately crashes and gives me two error messages. first one is a WerFault, i think. I don't know if that's relevant.
Apart from these crashes in Firefox, I am also having the same problem when trying to view or open a pdf in adobe reader, or even open adobe reader itself. It won't try to open, I just receive the error messages. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it two times now. I did this thing suggested online where you go into the control panel and look at all your plugins. Then, "repair" adobe reader - pretty sure it's just a button that says repair. that didn't do anything, of course I also could have done something wrong.
I realize this could be a problem unrelated to Firefox, but I'm doing what I can before I take my laptop in.
    Please save me.

Ok two things based on the crash report and the steps you took right before the crash:
    # Try to disable scrolling acceleration and restart Firefox. Does it continue to crash?
    # Try Safe Mode and do the same task as above with email and the pdf [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
    # Also pdf.js may be helpful to read pdfs in the meantime. You can change the default reader in the Preferences/Options > Application menu of Firefox.
    # Try to clear out the downloads folder and update flash to version 14 (that should do it)
IF it crashes again please also provide the new crash signatures and we can take a look :-) Sorry for the crashing :-(

  • Why do I get an error message when opening Itunes on both my computers?

Error message reads "the program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from computer. Try reinstalling thr program...
The "program" is not given. I assume Itunes, and reinstalled but same message appears. The same issue happens with my laptop as well as desktop.
    fyi, labeled "Windows error 126"

    Hello there, gordyl.
The following Knowledge Base article addresses the issue you're describing:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Apparently you started this question here in another thread around June 29, 2013 and never followed up on direct questions that would have helped us help you at this time.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1244744
I would encourage Hunt to close this thread (I do not have the authority to do that), and have you continue in the thread that you started already. Steve Grisetti, Hunt, and I had all posted in that thread and were waiting for the requested information, Steve Grisetti first or all of the requested information at one time.
    Thanks.

Add On...A good look at the original thread seems to indicate that both Steve Grisetti and Hunt suggested the AutoSave try at that time. Did you ever do that? Apparently Hunt is requesting the same AutoSave look again in this thread.

  • I get an error message when opening the Imessage app.  referring to "activation error".  My e-maill address is correct for Apple I.D.,  but cannot authenticate for Imessage.

I cannot send text message from the message icon.  When I click on the app, it asks me to sign up for Imessages.  When I do that, it tells me that my existing e-mail address is already associated as an Apple I.D.  Can anyone offer any suggestions on what to do next?  Thanks !!

    Hello Mags54321,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with iMessage on your iPad.  It sounds you are getting the message "Unable to verify email because it is already in use" when trying to sign into iMessage.  I recommend the following step:

    Hi supplies123,
Are you trying to convert from within Reader? If so, please make sure that you have the most current version of Reader by choosing Help > Check for Updates. Install any available updates--the most current version, 11.0.07, alleviates some of these sign-in errors.
Please let us know how it goes.
