Getting an error when downloading quicktime

It gets to the end and says " Network error when trying to download Quicktime" or something along the lines of that.
I'd really like to hook up my new ipod but thats standing in my way. Help?

the -3 indicates an unspecified problem with the QT component of the itunes installer bundle. to get some more information about what might be causing the -3 in your particular case we need to try a standalone QT 7.1 install. (this might possibly get us past the -3 all on its lonesome, too.)
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.

To look in the ~/Library/iTunes/Mobile\ Backups folder to find the Manifest.plist folder, and delete entries for apps that might be causing the problem.
I remembered that a little while ago, I had started getting an error message while syncing and updated app (Sleepmaker or something- couldn't remember which, precisely, but knew that it was a white noise app). So, I went to the Manifest.plist folder, and removed the entries for the couple different flavors of the Sleepmaker app that I had installed.
Then, reconnected the iPhone, and clicked "Continue Restore" once again when it reported that there had been an interrupted restore. This time, it went through fully! Took quite a while (~1 hr) to copy all my media onto the phone, but now it's all there! Hopefully this will help others who might in the same situation...

Even when i connect to itunes i keep getting an error when downloading the new os. I have made 11 attempts.

download is corrupt. I finally solved it. I had changed my password on my appleid and had not updated it in my phone. After i got the same error on 3 different desktops i decided the error was in my phone and updated all my settings and the update worked the first time.

I keep getting an error message when downloading an app..free or otherwise. States there is an issue with PayPal account...which I have closed to try and get around this error to no avail.

First, try contacting the developer of the app here > http://support.aspyr.com/home
If you do not get a reply within three to five business days, report the issue to Apple here > Apple - Support - Mac App Store - Contact Support
Apple's policy states, "all sales are final" > TUNES STORE - MAC APP STORE -TERMS AND CONDITIONS but if you explain the error and you haven't received areply from the developer, it can't hurt to request a refund.
You're sure there's enough free space on the startup disk?

Tryin to download Itunes on my laptop and the error message pops up. It tells me to to unistall and reinstall and its not fixing the problem??

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

The setup program runs and quicktime downloads and creates an icon and when installing the itunes portion, when the status bar is nearing the end, an error message will come up saying
" Could not open key: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\.cdda\OpenWithProgIds.
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your suppost personnel. "
What does this mean and how can this be fixed?

even though you're not getting a 1406 or 1402 error message number with this, first try working through the suggestions from this troubleshooting document:

PLEASE HELP...I get an error when downloading certain videos to iPod.

I have and ipod video(obviously) and also have ipod movie/video converter. I have successfully converted and loaded 2 movies onto it. However when I try to down load a certain "adult content" video files I recieve an error message. It converts fine but when I go to iTunes and sync it says (file name) was not copied to (ipod name) because it cannot be played on this ipod. I have read a lot of other post about people having this type of video on their ipods so why not mine? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sorry I made a change to this post and posted the wrong one by mistake. It is not just 1 video that is not working it is only on adult movies if you get my drift. Its like my ipod wont upload ***********. Everything else converts and copies to the ipod fine.

Quit all background apps before the download. You may be running out of storage space or memory that your phone needs for the install process. Check available space. Perform the 7.0.6 update via Wi-Fi, not cellular data. If wireless does not work, connect your iPhone to iTunes via USB and select your phone device name on the left iTunes panel and update via the Summary iTunes window.

I keep getting an error when downloading CS5.5 because of the 7Z Compressed File.

I'm downloading both files in the same folder. I have windows 7. I downloaded a program to extract the 7z file called bitser which hasn't helped.

you need to dl both the exe and the 7z files (ie, files 1 of 2 and 2 of 2).

Please help if anyone knows how to fix or bypass this problem.

These ones are tricky. But the following instructions are worth a try.
First do a complete uninstall of iTunes and related components (but don't reinstall just yet), as per the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
a. Launch regedit (Start >> Search Programs and Files >> type Regedit and open the regedit that comes up.)
b. Access the following Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components
c. Perform the following actions
i. Right Click on Components Folder
ii. Select Permissions
iii. Select Full Control and Read Permissions options
iv. Select Advanced Button
v. Select Owner Tab
vi. Select to Change Owner to the Administrators
vii. Check the option “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects”
viii. Select OK when prompted that it may not change all.
ix. Select Apply
x. Select Apply again
xi. Exit the Registry Editor
Now try reinstalling iTunes again. Does it go in properly this time?

Bizzarely, if I shutdown and open QuickTime many times I can occasionally export a clip as another format (maybe one in 10 times). I have seen that other users have had a similar problem after clipping files in QuickTime but this seems to be a slightly different bug in that all I do is open the file and then try and export the file as is - either way, this is a very annoying bug

@Z_B-B, thank you for taking the time to respond to my cry for help. However, the link you supplied does not address the problem: I am not trying to export from Final Cut Pro to QuickTime, I am trying to export from QuickTime to the rest of the world (like people's iPhones and Ipads) in .m4v format (so I am not emailing my freinds such huge files).
If I were to spend hundreds of Dollars on a copy of Final Pro I could export directly from there and not have to bother with QuickTime, but I do not take enough video clips to justify the cost. I must say that I never had any of these problems before I decided to switch from Snow Leopard to Mountai Lion.
