Releasing the laptop from the docking station is a mechanical process. Although there are some OS-dependant steps which are recommended to prevent corruption of data or damaging the electronics, it should be possible to just pop it out of there whatever the software is doing. The safest thing to do is shut the laptop down.
All the docking stations/bases I've worked with require a little extra tug or push to pop the laptop out.
I hope your docking station isn't locked by a key lock...

  • HT4528 I pulled my iPhone out of the docking station/speakers and now the ring tones don't work.  Anyone know a fix for this?

Does anyone know if there is a fix for iPhone 4S when you pull it out of the docking station and now the ring tones don't work -- it only vibrates.

Basic troubleshooting of the device is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?
    Do other sounds work?
Have you checked to see if the dock connector or headphone jack have debris in them?

  • I have just got a iPod 5 gen 32gb and lightning adapter but can't get it to work with my docking station it will charge but not play audio please help??

I have bought a 5th gen iPod and lightning adapter but it won't wrk on my docking station it charges but doesn't play audio? Please help

Does the dock manufacture say it is compatible with the 5G iPod with iOS 6.0.1?
Have you went to the manufacturer's support site? Contacted them?
Try resetting the dock. How you do that depends upon the dock
    Sometimes this works
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - First go to the dock manufacturer's support site and see if there is an firmware update available for the dock

Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility and yo have to wait for a firmware update for the dock or iPod.

  • T400 DVI Out through Mini Dock

The T400 has no DVI output plug. However with my old A31p which likewise has no DVI-out, I can get DVI from it through its docking station. Is it the same for the T400? When docked to the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock, will I be able to get DVI from it?

Unfortunately, according to the Specifications posted at
    http://shop.lenovo.com/ISS_Static/merchandising/US/PDFs/t400_and_t500_datasheet.pdf
the T500 has DisplayPort but the T400 does not. So no digital video output from the T400 unless through docking station.
I would strongly prefer the brighter WXGA+ LED-backlit screen which is only available on the T400 (T500 only has WXGA), AND the DisplayPort that is only available on the T500.
It seems you can't get both the higer resolution LED and the digital output on the same Txxx series notebook.

  • X230 docking station

I have a x230 with Windows 7. When I use the docking station I can't get any sound out of the docking stations 3,5 mm speaker plug. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi, peha
Have you made sure that all your drivers are up to date, particularly BIOS and audio? I would recommend making sure those are up to date and see if that helps your issue. You can find all the drivers for your system here.
    Hope it helps,

  • Taking iPhone out of docking station disconnects PC from WLAN?

    That's it in a nutshell.
Details: iPhone is connected to PC (Vista) via docking station and USB. Taking the iPhone out of the docking station intermittently causes a disconnect of the PC from the WLAN both were using. iPhone remains connected to WLAN router. Cannot re-connect PC to WLAN using software. PC needs to be re-booted. WLAN connector on PC is a Netgear USB stick.
Might the cause be a conflict between the two USB connections (dock vs. WLAN stick)?

Apple can't do anything about it. They are not a law enforcement agency.

  • Is Docking Station ruining the battery?

    Hi,
My old laptop was a Lenovo something which was duplicated 1 for me and the same version for my parents..
I use to keep my AC out when 100% or my battery out when I'm at home.|
While they were plugged in - overcharging 24/7..
After 2 years mine was still great while theirs is now barely 10 minutes battery life.. You just unplug the AC and the PC screams low power..
Well now I have a new laptop: HP EliteBook 2570p, with a proper docking station for it..
I was half ear told that the docking station should smartly protect my battery life and I can count on it to not keep feeding my PC when 100% is reached..
As it sounds believable for the size of the dock, and the fact that its almost impossible to plug out the battery without shutdown the PC first and it would be kinda silly if it wouldn't keep it.. BUT.. I don't wanna take the chance..
A Google search wouldn't give me a proper answer and the manual doesn't speak about this..
Could any expert please vote for a true answer if this might hurt or not
An explanation in addition is recommended
    Thanks ahead !

    Hi McJordan,
HP Notebooks won't keep charging the battery once it has reached 100%.  Gennerally speaking, if the notebook battery is at or above 95% charged when plugged in, the notebook won't charge the battery further.  Charging will only occur after the battery has dropped below 95%, and only then will it charge up to 100% and then stop.  This is true with or without the docking station.
My own Probook, is currently sitting at 97% available (Plugged in, Not Charging) as I write this.
There are two things to keep in mind when using a docking station with a notebook, one is that heat is the enemy of batteries and many other components in a notebook, so make sure that the notebook is not overheating by ensuring that vents are clear and clean and there is adequate air flow around the notebook.  Also if you are using the Notebook primarily in the Docking Station so it is always connected to AC Power, at least once a month, take the notebook out of the docking station and allow it to use the battery down to where you get the warning that you need to plug it in, then put it back in the docking station and allow the battery to recharge to 100%.
I would also recommend reviewing the following two documents for additional tips on maintaining battery performance:

  • No audio when playing YOUTUBE videos on ipod touch via a docking station

Hi there, when my ipod touch is docked on its docking station, it will not play audio on youtube videos, it will play the video but not the audio through the docking station speaker. It used to play audio without problems before, but recently it has stopped. When i take the ipod touch off the docking station the audio on the youtube video returns. any ideas why this has happened? it plays the youtube audio through the head phones too, i can play all other audio through the docking station speakers with out a problem.

There are no setting to change on the iPod.
Have you updated either the firmware on the car or on the iPod since they last played in the car?

  • T410/Docking station random crashes

I bought a T410 about a year ago and it's worked well. However I just recently bought a docking station and ever since then my thinkpad has crashed more then 10 times. It doesn't happen right away, it seems pretty random but it may be related to heat.
I've got Ubuntu 9.10 running and I've installed lmsensors to monitor the cpu heat. I'm getting an idle temp of about 68 degrees C and under heavy load it averages between 75-82 degrees C but I've seen it get up to 90 degrees C. Is this too hot? It the docking not allowing the heat to escape? What can I do?

The average load temps sound fine.
90 is when it starts getting hot. They will usually shut down around 100.
If you think it's heat realted does it shut off only when doing processor intensive work?  Or can you leave it sit by itself and it will crash?
What about when your out of the docking station? Everything works fine off the dock? What are your temps like then?

  • Ipod not working on Apple docking station

I can turn on the ipod when it is on the docking station but no sound comes out. I am getting a message on the docking station that says AUX. The ipod will say now playing, I've checked the volume but still no sound coming out of the docking station.
Also when I turn on the radio it will come on and play the station that is selected. But then it automatically goes to another station without me touching it.
    Any thoughts?

if it is on AUX, then that means that the aux port is where the music should be coming from. look on the dock for a port labeled AUX. you may need to buy a cable to hook the ipod from the headphone jack to the AUX port.

  • W520 dimensions while in Docking station

Hello everyone,   Can anyone tell me what the dimensions are for the W520 as it sits in its docking station.  Can't find it anywhere.   Appreciate your help.   Cheers!

Just add about 2 inches to the side and back.
Two incheds on the left side for sure. The 9-cell battery sticks out more than the back of the docking station in the rear.

  • Does iPhone 4 work with the Creative X-30 Docking Station?

    Dear Forum Users,
I have been shopping for new computer speakers and a docking station for my iPhone 4. I decided to get Creative GigaWorks T40 Series II speakers, and just found that it includes an "iPod Docking Station" port to connect the Creative X-30 Docking Station.
The X-30 dock is quite unique in that it includes S-Video, Composite Video, Line In, USB ports, as well as speaker connections. See the Creative website for details:
    http://sg.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=13&subcategory=58&product=1 7507&listby=
The X-30 dock was designed for use with iPod and iPod Touch, and supports a large range on them. I'm wondering if the X-30 dock will work with my iPhone 4. The reason why I'd prefer this dock over the Apple one is that it has many more features!
It'd be great if all features worked, but fundamentally it must allow sync with iTunes, and audio output.
Thanks anyone for your comments! This product was not sold in the America's, so I have not been able to find or test it out myself.
    Bryce

It will probably work, but if the product does not include the "made for iPhone" certification, you will get the warning message indicating the docking station is not compatible with the iPhone when connected and do you want to enable Airplane Mode. If so and Airplane mode is not enabled, this may result in "GSM buzz" with the speakers.
The manufacturer should have a contact link to confirm if this product will work with and is recommended for the iPhone. The "made for iPhone" certification is supposed to ensure this.

  • Docking station ipod Nano compatability

I have an old nano which I play on my Panasonic SC-CH30DB and Acoustic solutions Speaker Dock (Model CSPK40Wi). I also have a new Nano (7th Generation) but it wont fit either docking station.  Can I get adapter plates for my existing docking stations or do I need to buy a new docking station for the 7th generation ipod model?
